Every single person I have seen calls the 'I am that guy' line a few seconds before it happens and it doesn't matter at all because its still so incredibly satisfying. On the flip side no one calls the 'best friend in the whole world' line and the reaction from Amos is simultaneously uplifting and heartbreaking.
There are so many incredible scenes in this episode. Mao kneeling in front of Avasarala wearing his daughter's fight suit. Cotyar going out like a boss.
Strap in for the rest of this season!
ikr! Satisfying as the "I am that guy" line is, the "my best friend in the whole world" and Amos' reaction to it moves me to tears, and the way he nervously takes Mei's hand
It's not that it doesn't matter that everyone calls the "I am that guy"
It's exactly what makes the line amazing, and the character and the scene so well built, that everyone just understands that's what is supposed and is going to happen there.
Plenty of reactors adore the "best friend" line, even as a high point in an episode full of high points, especially if they've really connected to Amos. I will say that I've watched very few lone male reactors to this show, so my sample base is probably different.
The second line works because of the first line. Amos saves Prax from taking an action that is against his nature because they are close friends. And when Amos says "I am that guy" he is both the enforcer of justice and the protector of his friend.
absolutely. If you show that clip to 1000 people that have watched to that point, they're all going to know what line is coming up and it couldn't matter less. I can't really think of another line like that.
When Katoa was overtop of Bobby and looked at the sky, he was looking towards Venus, recognizing the work has been completed. It’s covered in the book.
Indeed, but also in awe at the stars. Remember, he's never been outside without a vac suit before (most humans haven't lived to tell about it), and never been to Io either.
They made it so well that for someone who hasn't read the book, even I understood it that way.
@@Brendissimo1 wow I never saw that. Good stuff.
I was just watching another reaction where someone in the comments was like [paraphrasing] "Katoa was such a good kid that he was intentionally turning his neck so that Bobbie could shoot it".
Umm... What?! 😅😂🤣😭💀
I didn't even respond to it because I thought it wasn't worth it, but that definitely needs to be corrected. I'm probably gonna go back and correct it now 😏
"I am that guy" both the most telegraphed line in cinematic history and still the most WORTH IT!
Best scene for me is Prax calling Amos his best friend. The emotions of relief and joy and fear receding came through in that.
Big same, telling Mae that Amos his best friend in the whole world.. that really got to me.. literally every time I watch it 😂
You see what it means by the way Amos looks at Prax.
“You’re not that guy”
Amos knows his soul is already lost. He cares so much for Prax that he wants to save his. That scene gives me so many chills, not just that Strickland got entirely what he deserved, but Amos saved both Mei and his new best friend in the world.
One detail I love about it is that till now, Strickland has carried himself like a smug prick this whole time. And then he looks into Amos's eyes for a split second and for the first time his nerve cracks. To paraphrase Doc Holliday in Tombtone "Why Strickland, you look like someone just walked over yo grave".
@@quiett6191 Love the parallel to Doc! The two characters share a lot in common.
"I'm your huckleberry." / "I am that guy."
I'd say it's more he believes he is beyond redemption - but his actions throughout the series shows otherwise.
@@banksnld He's a man in search of a moral compass, and I think that's the foundation of his loyalty to Holden. His taking the shot was less the act of a man beyond redemption, and more the act of someone who's hardened enough to live with the carnage. Prax's conscience would tear him apart, even though the shot was deserved. For Amos, it's Tuesday, and there's a prick that needs a hole put through him.
This is my favorite episode in the whole series, and I have been waiting for you to get to it. From the moment Prax says " This is Amos, he's my best friend in the whole world" to the moment Amos says "I am that guy" I am always bawling like a baby. Every time I watch it.
There is just so much happening in that scene, from finding Mei, to Amos protecting Prax's soul, all of it.
100% my favorite episode so far
Mentioned it in my own comment but Amos knew his soul was lost. He wanted to save Prax’s… and that was truly beautiful.
@@XeonAlpha Perfect analogy, well said Jordan 👏
Fun story from the Ty & That Guy podcast: Ty wrote the "I am that guy" scene with Amos as he usually handles most of Amos's important dialogue. But there was more dialogue on the page when Amos talks Prax down and Wes convinced Ty he could convey everything they needed just by repeating "You're not that guy" and sure enough, it works great.
I feel like Wes knows Amos better than anyone. It was perfect.
@@funnylilgalreacts When Wes heard they were making a show out of The Expanse he went straight to the auditions for the role of Amos.
The Prax/Amos scene works so well because they invested the screen time developing their relationship over many episodes.
I love the look on Amos's face when Prax calls him his best friend. Like he never expected someone to use those words to describe him. Wes Chatham plays him so well.
This is, in my very humble opinion, the single greatest episode of television that ever aired.
It only gets better from here on
Well said.
Next episode is no slouch either. People always say to watch episodes 5 and 6 together but I think that you should watch 6 and 7 together. They are my two favorites.
It's hard to compete with the Season 3 finale. Season 3 is definitely the best science fiction ever put to screen
Such a perfect episode. Errinwright is a POS but I love his farewell speech slamming the Secretary General; we know that Errinwright is right about Sorrento-Gillis and then the bobble-head immediately proves it.
The mop comment floored me, not only perfectly true of mr bobblehead, but it also totally underscored the problem I've had with several people in real life...
I love that until the very end, he never even addresses S-G at all, directing all his unhidden thoughts to Anna, the only person in the room he respects.
@@lukemcniven4131 Yeah say what you will about Errinwright but he had a conviction and he fought hard for what he thought was right. Gotta respect that.
The tragedy of Katoa is that part of him was still there, despite becoming a hybrid. This was confirmed by one of the writers on their podcast. He moves different from the other hybrids, different body language too. When Bobbie is waiting on the ladder, the Katoa hybrid peered around the corner like a little kid. When the Katoa hybrid finally has her, he doesn't kill her. Instead his attention is drawn to the horizon and then the sky. Its pretty heartrending when you realise its because Katoa, whose a Belter, has never been outside in his life. There's almost a look of wonder on the hybrid's face as it looks up at Io's sky.
So in a way Strickland was right, the genetic disease that the kids have did stifle the proto-molecule somewhat, if only to allow them to keep some of their minds, even as their bodies transformed. Its pretty cruel when you think about it.
also
Chrisjen is wearing Julie's racing uniform. As he's being forced to his knees, you can see Mao looking at the uniform, then back up at Chrisjen's face.
And this is where Amos cemented the nickname for himself of Murdersnuggles. And where Wes Chatham and Ty Frank got the name of their podcast from: Ty and That Guy.
I love that Bobbie had 2 callbacks in one scene: 2x6, where she sees the hybrid not wearing a vac suit over her, and 2x1, where she arm wrestles her own Goliath armor. I think it's possible, since the protomolecule talks to itself in real time, the Katoa became aware of the structure coming off of Venus. Which, by the way, the SCALE of that thing (for scale, Venus is just a tiny bit smaller than Earth).
Great work on hooking those people on the show. I get the same vibe from watching it again with you.
Favorite moments. If course the "Best friend in the world"/"I am that guy" scene. But also, Bobbie's revenge for her team, the final montage - music, editing, content, narrative, ending with the "what the fuck is that?" moment - but also, and this gets me in the feels every single time, Cotyar's farewell. What a G.
You are now safe to watch all of the #SaveTheExpanse videos, by the way. Fans Ed A. and Zurick23 both did stellar work (and, I believe, got work behind it!). Knock yourself out.
I cannot wait to see your reaction to episode 7.
Hey I just noticed that under the #savetheexpanse hashtag there *are* in fact some spoilers, so STAY AWAY!!! See you next episode. 🙂
i allways tought it was what remained of Katoa "admiring" the volcano view in the background cause he seems like in Awe. could be related to Venus.. tought its supose to happen like several hours or a day after this.. i asumed the venus event coincided with the pods being destroyed by Fred wich can take place days after this (since the pods only acelerte when launch and coast the rest to remain stealth so they cant go as fast as a ship or a missile)
I love how Amos wants to make sure that the people less broken than him stay that way.
On the Ty and that Guy podcast Wes Chatham said something to the effect of there was a little speech after Amos says the first you 're not that guy, but he said he told the director he could do it with just a second you're not that guy, and he crushed it.
"I am that guy" is one of the most anticipated lines in the entire series. For it to still have the impact it does is a tribute to the acting and direction.
Watch for the subtle shift in Wes's posture as the airlock door closes - the shift between "best friend in the whole world" to avenger is so small yet so clear.
Notice Errinwright never even LOOKS at the Secretary General in the beginning of the arrest scene. He only acknowledges Anna. It shows his total disregard for SG (deserved or not). Brilliantly written and portrayed by all actors.
This is Dominique Tipper's first acting gig, she was previously a dancer, and she's KILLING it
She had had a handful of minuscule roles earlier, but The Expanse was her first role with real teeth. A lesser innate talent would have fumbled it, and she improved quickly through her run in The Expanse.
Dominique Tipper is a fabulous actor and dancer. See if you spot her.

@@kirkdarling4120 There was some growing pains in S1, where her acting was a bit of a hit or miss but how boy, by season 6's end, no one can argue that woman can't act. The two last seasons, she is so damn good at it ! Showing a big range !
"Friends don't let friends slip into darkness and despair" - Praxideke Meng's best friend
THIS EPISODE IS WHY AMOS BURTON IS MURDERSNUGGLES !
I was never sure if Errinwright was self-serving or a hawk. His words were zealous while his demeanor was slick and self-serving. But the way he went out, head literally held high, cemented it as conviction. No groveling or last-minute attempted spin. Not a reason to respect him, of course. But it seems, from his earlier letter and chat with his son, that he really only cared what his legacy would be to his loved ones. But the show really made him hard to pin down, which is pretty cool.
He wasn’t really wrong either. Maybe the perfect representation of “jumping the gun” by trying to take out Mars, but he’s right. Mars will become much more powerful and will be much harder to beat.
All credit to Shawn Doyle for an amazing performance. The guy's an amazing actor and I've seen him in movies and TV as the victim, hero, villain, romantic lead and all feel genuine.
@@funnylilgalreacts True, that’s where things between Earth and Mars have been leading them. At the same time, it assumes that there has to be a winner and a loser, instead of just… not. You’d think there’d be another solution. I mean, it’s probably how it would play out were it real life, sadly. Very human, and very frustrating. The thing about preemptive attacks is that you’ll never know if they were truly justifiable, because your reason for launching them literally hasn’t happened. A philosophical point in some cases but nevertheless.
Mars lost some first-strike capability, which, in this case, was only used defensively, as Earth struck first, and 2 million people died on Earth. Win? Loss?
At the same time, the world did make it through our actual cold war without lobbing thousands of nukes at each other. A lot of people still died in proxy wars and economic skullduggery, and, yes, there was a winner and a loser, but the world got off easier than many thought it would. The old, huge power in the end lost to the younger power built on pioneer spirit and military strength (yes, Earth is the USSR and Mars is the US), but without directly duking it out to everyone's detriment.
Chrisjen is very much the cold warrior type; aggressive and no doubt fine with proxy wars but intent on keeping the main conflict a cold war, not a hot one. Errinwright is more a MacArthur type; MacArthur wanted to drop dozens of nukes on China and invade during the Korean War because he saw that sooner or later, China would be too powerful, so better destroy them preemptively. He’d even gone behind Truman’s back to make it happen, which Truman learned of through incepted communications. Very similar story. MacArthur was fired instead, and you can argue that China has become too powerful - but at least nobody’s (yet) started WW3, so… better?
@@ferchrissakes Similarly Patton wanted to push through Germany and attack the Russians at the end of WW2.
@@cobbycaputo3332 True, also a good parallel. Patton was more warrior-warrior than warrior-statesman like MacArthur, so even less subtle about things. Perhaps slightly more Nguyen than Errinwright, to bring it back from the history lesson :)
I have to say that I I've watched this reaction multiple times and each time I tear up and get emotional along with you. It might be my favourite reaction across all of RUclips. From "best friend in the whole world" to "I am that guy." It is so satisfying.
So many powerful and touching scenes in this episode. This is what great television can be. Awesome!
"If he spoke to a janitor, he'd be passionately declaiming about a fucking mop." Summed up the Secretary General so perfectly.
Your heart was really exposed on this one. I often find myself watching a show with a reactor and it feeling like a good excuse to rewatch a show I like boiled down to its best moments, but with you, and Xander's tremendous edits, I found myself really watching you more than the episode. Huh, just a ton of raw emotion. You managed to amplify what was already an emotionally incredible episode. 👏
Love your reactions. "I am that guy" was the only time I've ever shouted at my TV. Freaked my wife right out!
This is possibly the best episode of the entire series. So many marvelous payoffs. Prax, Errinwright, Strickland, Bobbie v. Hybrid, and more. Even Cotyar's death was made important and believable. Chen's portrayal of Prax in this is too good. As a father of daughters, there are SERIOUS feels for me! His need to compartmentalize and even shut down some emotions is utterly believable. He has to see it through, but he knows a happy ending is far from certain. Katoa looks off when he senses the protomolecule thing taking off from Venus. Also, *I AM THAT GUY!* 🤯 (Which is where the title of Wes's podcast "Ty and that Guy" comes from.) The Venus entity is a HUGE part of the next season.
It was the "He's my best friend in the whole world" part for me 🥲
Dominique Tipper really is extraordinary throughout this series. And I think it was her first major role. By now you have finished the series so I’m sure you already know her performance in the season 5 finale is one of the great screen performances in modern television.
And neither she nor anyone else involved in this show got the slightest Emmy mention. Robbery.
@@kirkdarling4120 The Emmy’s are a joke. Such bullshit.
100% In agreement. Season 5 serves as an epic showcase for Naomi. And Dominique absolutely hits it outta the park. If Emmy voters didn't have a stick up their asses toward sci-fi shows, then Dominique would've garnered a nomination AT LEAST.
Ive been waiting for ages for this episode :) Ever since you first said you love Amos. I knew this one would be one you enjoy! You made me cry by the way! thankyou :) Also I'm pretty sure there's a video out there of Wes Catham doing a watch party of this episode.
Xander sent it to me! I think it’s awesome that Wes was excited for that moment too!
I agree! Wes Chatham is phenomenal as Amos! He’s definitely my favourite!
There are so many great moments in this show I am excited for you to see them my favourite fight is still coming can wait until you see it
That look of "Oh fuck" on Strickland's face, when Amos turns to face him, *_never_* gets old.
One of my absolute favourite Amos moments. ‘This is Amos, he’s my best friend in the whole world.’ It chokes me up every single time. ❤
I love watching people get into the Expanse by word of mouth. I introduced it to my wife and she binged watched the entire show during her spring break. Been trying to get more of my friends into it but they're more into "science fantasy" like Star Wars.
When Prax introduces Amos to Mai as "my best friend in the whole world" I always get real misty. That whole scene from Mai running up and hugging Prax to Amos delivering the "I am that guy" line may just be one of my favourite sequences in the whole show.
While I loved that Strickland was dealt with and I love that Amos was the one that did it instead of Prax, the best moment was Prax saying that Amos was his best friend in the WHOLE world and the shocked look on Amos's face in that statement. Also the amount of trust Prax showed in Amos to tell Mei to go with him...And the very soft "Hi" Amos says to Mei. Simply the best.
I have seen The Expanse many many times and I never thought to look at Chrisjen wearing Julie Mao's racing suit. Thanks for pointing that out! Also, Amos saying there are 3 types of people in this world "bad ones, ones you follow and ones you protect" I am guessing Amos sees himself as a bad one.
ty frank has sorta suggested that on hid podcast
This is such an Amos Moment. He sees himself as being a Monster. And he is not completely wrong. He would probably be diagnosed as a psychopath if someone would bother to do so. He does not think he has the capability of actually "be good". But he made the choice to do the next best think and act in service for someone who is. Putting the demon in service of the Angels. And he sees Prax as perhaps the best person he met yet. And he protects him from moral compromise.
I remember when Bobbie first appeared really biting my tongue about how awesome she is (because that would have been very spoilery. ;)
I adore her!
Easily the best episode of the entire show imo - sooo many deliciously satisfactory moments 😁
Also, is it weird that the one thing I would have liked to have gotten is a short moment right at the end between Chrisjen and Cotyar where she says "goodbye my boy" or something to that effect? The way it was portrayed in the show, it just feels like she loves him (almost) like a son. And once again, soooooo good to see that actor get to be a good guy - something he does quite well as it turns out 😄
He acknowledged that he knew she was watching by saying that he and her son Charnapal were now even and that his debt to him (and Chrisjen)was paid in full
"I am that Guy" was Amos stopping judging himself. That is the moment Amol truly understood his purpose in this universe. Prax trusting him with his child cemented it in. Amos did seem more comfortable in his skin after this.
Immolation is an unforgettable piece of entertainment. And "I am that guy" is probably my favorite line in television ever. Amos coming in clutch to save Prax is so so emotional and meaningful for both characters. Absolute top tier televis...not. Top tier writing.
Just imagine cancelling this show at that moment...
It's pretty close to Avasarala's "Wherever the fuck I want" response when asked where she was taking her questioning of Bobbie.
When I hear my 3-year-old say, "Hi daddy," it melts me every time.
Epic episode, epic reaction. Just what I wanted in every way. Love that you're infecting new Firehawks like it's the protomolecule. And Xander, you are Also That Guy. Rock on yall
And with this ends The Expanse Prologue. Welcome to the real thing 😁
So happy I met Wes Chatham a couple years ago. And Steven Strait.
Avasarala had him figured out down to one word, bobblehead.
"I need to find some FUCKING PEASE!" yeah, this show makes you feel all the feels.
omg, I have hanging out for this reaction! Unfortunately this guy has to cook dinner right now :( You'd think family could suck it up for one night.
I actually subscribed on Patreon start of S3 just because I couldn't wait any longer for this.
"What The F*ck is That" sums up The Expanse. They keep taking me places I never expected. I've felt like that loads of times watching this series.
I love your reactions. You really invest in story it so refreshing to see this. Amos is my favorite character from start. I don't know if it because I can empathize with him as a solider coming from military myself. But the fact of Amos character growth and compassion / humanity for others. I love the bond between him and Prax. Prax saying, "He is my best friend in the whole world." Hits hard because Amos while having friends, but I don't think anyone ever said that to him and Wes (the actor is amazing) at portraying his reactions. The fact that as solider he knew the cost of taking a life and what it would do Prax and him not allowing him to endure that says as much about Amos as it does Prax.
The first time I watched this episode, I was so focused on Prax and Mei that I missed Amos's subtle reaction to Prax calling him his best friend. But man, if you missed it make sure you go back and watch. Incredible non-verbal acting from Wes Chatham.
Wes is such a phenomenal actor.
Love it! “I am that guy”. This was a great episode love this reaction.
Damn good episode. I believe I laughed out loud the first time I watched it when Amos was overpouring the kids' "milk" asking "What the fuck is that?"
"Spikes, heads, walls." I think, were the words you were looking for, dear Lady.
I've been waiting for this episode for ages.
Katoa felt what happened on Venus.
Never connected that Avasarala was wearing Julie's racing suit. It's wild how characters echo on this show. In the book that scene happens on Luna. Guards bring Mao and Avasarala has invited Holden. Avasarala makes small talk with Holden keeping Mao waiting until he complains. Then Avasarala launches into a variation of the speech she gives Errinwright in the show - the pariah one. It read pretty good. But now that you noted Julie's jumpsuit I must admit the show one is better.
Never has a line of dialogue you saw coming a light year away been so satisfying.
It's awesome that you called it, and your reaction was awesome. @25:29
"I need to find my zen, I need to calm down. I need to find some fucking peace!" You are awesome, love watching your reactions 🤣😂😆🙃
"Why not Holdens butt?" girl, I feel you.
Prax is the best. And his arc and reunion with Mei, as well as Amos essentially 'sin eating' so Prax doesn't murder the doc is some peak writing. And Amos's arc through the whole series is **chef's kiss**.
And I loved your reaction to the "That Guy" scene!
When I think back on my favorite Amos moments from the series, the moment with Prax in this episode is definitely top 3.
I know in the beginning of the show you don't have a lot to go on, but can you believe there was ever a time when you didn't like Amos? The character has so much hidden depth, and Wes Chatham plays him perfect
Wish I found these reactions when they came out. ❤ you're reactions and theories. Seen the entire series about 3 times now but it's refreshing watching it through your eyes and emotions.
12 words with real impact: “You’re not that guy. You’re not that guy. I am that guy”
Another 11: “This is Amos. He’s my best friend in the whole world “
I love the relief that Steickland has as Amos stops Prax. Followed by a look a of terror and surrender, as he knows there is no begging with this man. He is done.
Sooooo damn much goes on!! It's amazing.
The ending to this episode is fucking amazing, and it's also the same episode with "I am that guy". Might be my favourite one
Obligatory - And now the show really ramps up! :)
nb. Not actually joking.
yeah, the Amos-Prax dynamic is one of the best in the show. I didn't really like Amos at firs but I have massive respect for the man after S3. You see in these episodes he's starting to figure out who he really is. Him stopping to follow Naomi and having someone to basically tutor brings out the best in him, and you can really see him grow. And his growth is even that more powerful when you hear his occasional side comments.
An yeah, the "you're not that guy" moment was one of the best in the series.
This also concludes book 2 "Caliban War" ... just like book 1 ended mid season book 2 does as well but thats the last of them.. from here onwards each book ends in the season finale
"Did I just get pregnant?"
Lmao! Thanks for that😆
And there you go. That's the central focus of this series. Aliens come and say "Look at our massive alien balls!"
Watching you watch this is terrifying and I love it. This is a perfect episode.
Seeing the look in her eyes when the episode ends fires up all the mirror neurons in my brain. It's almost impossible not to binge this series.. there are always stories you just have to know more about.
One of the best episodes of television ever.
Hahaha! I’ve been dying for you to see this episode! Your reaction was allI had hoped it would be. Thank you for such a thoroughly satisfying post. Rock on, Angela!!!
2 minutes and 30 minutes in, and I clicked Subscribe.
After two brutal weeks of watching people jump on the bandwagon of "this guy is not like US, is he not *insert any negative characteristic known*, hahaha", I broke down in tears during closing arguments and resigned myself to a life as mathematically improbable (all kinds of outlier scores for all kinds of measurable traits, very few of which are connected) when the group I had started to love thinking of as "my people" had no concept of compassion for those who test above average, especially if they previously scored even higher. Had I just been projecting empathy onto them?
Then I clicked on this video by a person I have never seen before, just because I love The Expanse so much, and the That Guy moment is one of the best EVER, and ran straight into a mensch!
You have single-handedly restored my faith in humanity, please accept my gratitude!
yeah.. loved this (and the episode!)
This is why Prax is one of my favourite characters. He's "just a side character", but damn does he have a huge effect on the main cast.He also saves his daughter which is total dad-goals for me :) (I'd hope to be like him in that situation). That scene of him putting Mei to bed, and getting a goodnight hug just gets me into tears when I remember all the crap they have been through.
I love this series for the characters - and how it is willing to just "sit" with the characters and lets us build rapport... I hope you are watching (or will watch) Andor because it is managing to do the same trick! Make the characters worthy of empathy.
The payoff here, with everyone safe, Pax reunited with his daughter, and the war over, is the kind of payoff GOT really lacked.
"I want heads to roll..."
Me: "Will you settle for heads splattering?"
SATISFIED
I'm glad I can continue the line I said last week.
....I AM that guy!
Savage.
Beautiful and touching reaction....regards from Sweden.
The books are structured basically as three trilogies with books 1 to 3 being a story arch along with 4-6 and 7-9. Each trilogy is focused on a particular theme with the first one that you just completed being the story of the protomolecule. Obviously, I don't want to spoil anything for you so will not provide any info about the themes of the other two trilogies.
I actually had an opportunity in the military to say to an Army captain, "Sir, please shut the fuck up." Actually I already had our Marine colonel boss' permission to say that to him just like that, but it was still pretty satisfying.
Erringwright did get a slo-mo exit, though.
They gave us an unparalleled one-two punch of dramatic writing in this episode. First it was "My best friend in the whole world" that they'd been building toward for the entire season. Then it was "I am that guy," which proved how deeply Amos understood that friendship. Usually it's a sign of bad writing when the audience can anticipate the dialog, but in this case the writers injected us with such anticipation for that line that we would have been disappointed not to hear it spoken. "Say it! Say it! Say it!...Aaaaaahhhh."
And you're right...probably nobody had ever before actually called Amos "my best friend," not even Naomi.
At that vital moment, Proto-Katoa heard the "Up" command from the Protomolecule mother lode. It was still partially Katoa, which maybe why it always behaved rather tentatively. But the brain stem was still human, as shown by the blood that splattered on Bobbie's faceplate.
Fred Johnson has saved both Earth and Mars...you'd think that would, indeed, buy him some good will from them. Naomi gave Johnson the transponder codes for the pods, so he would be able to target all of them.
The Protomolecule vessel looks kind of like a jellyfish. I wonder if that says anything about the Protomolecule builders themselves.
@Angela - I think "The Expanse" channels same "Magic" the show Firefly gave us. (I'm assuming you've watched the Firefly series.)
It is clear the cast, writers, and production staff recognized how special/talented the whole ensemble is, and all were able to team together with a common vision of how the show should be crafted. That is something I remember the cast from Firefly speak about in interviews regarding their show after it was cancelled.
I think the way you convey the raw passion you share in your streams helps bring this series alive even more.
Thank you.
Ahhhh loved sharing this reaction with you.
Can't wait for you to see the remainder of this season.
It wasn't done poorly or incorrectly, but it's more powerful in the book when Bobbie kills the hybrid because her armor is completely dead, she breaks her arm lifting the gun, the narration specifies that she empties 2,000 rounds into it's face at point blank.
It's more satisfying because the hybrids are much smarter than the ones portrayed in the show, (I'm not dissing the show), she figures out it has a pattern, as they circle around each other at a full sprint. It hurls a boulder after every few steps, so she jumps over it accordingly. It knows what she's doing and purposely throws to her left several times on purpose so she gets used to jumping in the same direction every time and then it rips out it's explosive implant and throws it to her right, in front of her, and the blast knocks out her power armor
My day us made better by someone experiencing this episode!
Been so waiting for you to see this episode - such an emotional rollercoaster and a fantastic conclusion to the Earth/Mars war. Even though the earth science ship had no visible weapons, you can bet the Martian ship had guns ;) You are in for a treat next episode to see what happens
Totally agree with you about the look on Amos' face when Prax says he is his best friend
Another fantastic episode, so much death and sacrifice in this one but so well executed it's mind blowing how amazing this show is and how much better it keeps getting!
Can't wait to see you react to the next ones, you're gonna love them!
I think Kotoa was looking up and away from Bobbie because he was reacting to whatever it was on Venus being ready to launch or nearing completion. Probably, that was when it happened, and when we were seeing it on the video feeds, that was after the delay for the images to reach Earth and then get broadcast to the solar system at large.
Julie Mao is the unsung hero so far. Her actions started the chain reaction that brought her Father down. Chrissy 😉wearing Julie's jumpsuit was poetic justice. It was Julie's was of saying I stopped you and made the Belt "safe" from beyond the grave.
I have been waiting for you to get to this episode specifically for the "I am that guy" scene. Knew you'd love it and your reaction did not disappoint! I love how much you love this show, and it only gets better as it goes!
Katoa was more than lightly getting info from the proto-molecule on Venus was completed or in such a state it could be completed so his task was not needed and also why he just let her end him is my guess.
You're about to meet Maneo. The real hero of the series.
😂What a moma bear looks like, in space 👾, 😶🌫,Lol
One of my personal favourite moments of the series: When I saw the protomolecule ball rising from Venus, I said the EXACT line (by myself, out loud) that Amos said a few secs later, in almost the same intonation as well. "What.TheFuck.IsThat". And in english although I'm not a native speaker. Love this show.
That's awesome. It's amazing how in sync we are with these characters!
Absolutely fantastic breakdown of this episode, episodes like this are why I'll probably always consider this the greatest tv show I've seen. The "Show don't tell" style doesn't give you all the information straight away and leads us to discover new things that explain the universe and the characters.
Waiting from S01E01 for this reaction. Arguably the best episode in Expanse. So much lead up to this point.
In the books, both Errinwright and Avarsarela refer to Sorrento-Giles derisively as "the bobble-head."
Every good person needs 'that guy' in their life. The doors close, there's the beat, the boom. You know what's coming and it is so sweet when it happens.
