    That 000 just stands right out there and sings and the OM sounds great for strong rhythm and accompaniment!
    Oh yea, the new equidistant placement of the bridge pins from the saddle since 2017 is a wonderful improvement!

    I just sold a 28 for an 18. I couldn't be happier. It just adds magic, uplifting tone vs the dark sound I had in my 28.

    After decades of all kinds of Martins, I think the D-18 and 000-18 modern deluxe are the best new martins at any price. I don't like Indian Rosewood. Above the Om is "warmer", if you like that, and the 000 is brighter as expected. .I think a player needs a dread and a smaller body ( I like the 000's more then 00's and Oms.), so you gotta turn your pockets inside out again. They are two totally differnt instruments nd both have their place. If I had to take one I take the D-18 because it can do anything the other sizes can do, but as a stand alone, a good one sounds better then any other new guitar Martin makes......

    Greats guitars! i have an OM28V too and it's the best guitar i ever had. Sometimes, i miss mahogany (before i had a 000 BOUCHER Adi/mahogany), but i prefer Sitka/Rsw tone. Your comparison video is really interesting. Please, can you tell me the name of the song at 04'14 ? Thanks for the sharing and happy new year.

    The 18 has more clarity, the 28 more complexity. I used to think of the 18 as a bit lesser, but the more I listen, the more I want one as a compliment to my HD28. I also actually prefer the more symplistic look in some ways, though I do want an OM42 someday.

    • @ansgarness
      @ansgarness  3 года назад +1

      Yes, definitely two different beasts 18 and 28, yet complimentary. I couldn't part with any of them, now. I love my 9 years old OM28v, it surprises me how good it is, yet every time I pick up the 00018 I just can't put it down.

  • @Skrelnick222

    Are the bracing patterns the same? I know the 18s have scalloped bracing now and I assume the 28v does as well. I have one of the newer 00018s and it’s my favorite guitar. The high middle and trebles sustain for days.

    I have a Om28 . Now I prefer the slightly less heavy sound of mahogany. I wanted a 00018, but could only afford a 00017. I don't regret it. I love the 17, but a 000 18 is the grail for me.

    • @ansgarness
      @ansgarness  4 года назад

      Yes, different scale lenght, different strings spacing and neck profile. I can't really say: I play a lot the 00018, on a daily basis, it has a really great woody tone and it's a fun guitar. The OM is a completely different animal, very complex sound, more articulated bass and trebles. I love them both.

    I was really into 000 -18's these days but your video is slowly redefining my thoughts :D
    I definitely find the OM "precise" and complex which is very nice ! Do you find the OM harder to play with it's scale lenght ? It's the thing that could keep me away from the OM's. :)

    • @ansgarness
      @ansgarness  3 года назад +2

      No, long scale it's not so much harder, if you (or a repair guy) do a proper setup to the guitar. I remember struggling with the OM at first because it had very high action at nut from the factory.

      @jimbergson 3 года назад

      @@ansgarness i see ! I had a similar issue with my dreadnought (which as a standard scale too after all)😊.
      I thought the 18 could be a tad easier to play with a bit less tension, bit it’s a bit subtle I guess !

      In the beginning the V neck of the OM28V was giving me problems with my tendons .I am happy that this seems to be gone since a good while.I was about to sell it but it just sounded too good..The MD neck profile never gave me anything to worry about.The OOO-18 is noticeably lighter then the OM.I find it perfect for long practice sessions and to play standing.the OM is more tiring.Mahogany seems to record better ,especially if you use any reverb
