Thank you for sharing my husband recently was baptized orthodox and I just became a catechumen These have helped me greatly and offered a lot of clarity
Striving to become like God in the sense that we strive to become rightful, merciful and without sin, in other aspects we can´t become like God other than we are hold immortal spirits by God Himself. That´s what find to be true.
These lectures bless me. My kids think Deacon Ezra looks like Colonel Sanders. I'm not sure I know who Colonel Sanders is, but I gather it is somebody cool. With Love from South Africa❤❤❤
Brother Ezra, I am really enjoying your seminars. This is the second time I'm listening to them. I have learned so much. I don't agree with everything you said in this one. I believe that certain varieties of angels are made in the image of God not just humans. That is why they are called 'bene Elohim' or Sons of God. Adam was a bene Elohim, Son of God. Angels as well as humans have free will. That is why there is an angelic rebellion going on. Satan is the original rebel angel who convinced one third of the angels to rebel with him. This doesn't really have a bearing on the meat of your subject, but just saying.
We are the Image of God each one person is three separate persons and those three are one of us we are the Father type as in the mental us, we are the Son type as in the physical us, then there is a different spiritual us as in our souls or spiritual self each is a different part of the whole us. Hope this helps another way we can see it is The Father created all things through the Word by the Holy Spirit or breath of God. The Father is the owner The son The Architect the Holy Spirit is the Construction crew
Give the snickers bar metaphor the benefit of the doubt. All illustrations break down at some point. We deal with mystery. Who really knows the nature of a peanut? or chocolate? It's as good a metaphor as an egg with the shell, the white and the yolk. I would not press any metaphor too hard or far. Yet the snickers may be a starting point for postmodern millennials. Of course, God is not a candy bar any more than He is an egg, or water-vapor-ice, or a shamrock. Yet these enable us to see how the many can be one. Other than this, these lectures are excellent and I am greatly blessed. If it were not for the ethnic lines being drawn within Orthodoxy, I would convert. Blessings and please keep these up! Thank you.
