- I took a trip on the bullet train in Shanghai, recorded some sounds and turned them into a tech house banger in 15 minutes using Ableton Live 12!

I've got a little something I recorded from my Sonata starting up chime. Pretty dope. This was cool. When I went to school for audio in 2000, we had a teacher who recommended recording anything and just sampling and tweaking the sounds and adding them into your work for experimental sounds.

Ha interesting you’re doing this, I’ve recently done an EP for my BA hons which implements this same bricolage approach to music production, only difference being is that I used nothing but no context sounds for every instrument and had to get creative when it came to making kicks, percussion, bass and lead sounds, had so much fun doing it though.

As a Chinese, to me, that vocal loop throughout the entire drop really sounds like “Liverpool's at war” in Mandarin. I’m not sure if any Mandarin native speaker thinks the same.😂 The reason that a short sample from the bullet train announcement sounds like it’s saying “at a war”is because of a homophone, lol.

If you do it right, you can take bathroom sounds and make it into a tech house, house, techno, etc banger easily.
