Rudy, enjoy your humor. Do you have a video on the corner crimping and inking you were talking about? Second, it appears you trade or invest in stocks. How about a stock (non magic) video on thoughts and prognostications?
To answer your questions, though yes he's done videos where he mentions them but it can be a lot more concise: Inking: kids used to ink cards for a couple of reasons - this refers to using sharpie on the border to some extent. Either to sharpie a white border card to look like a black border card, to "fix" spots of wear where the black ink has worn off to reveal the white/tan cardboard underneath, or to cover the white card edges so your unsleeved deck will be black all around when looking at the side of the stack (looked pretty sweet in like, 1995 - this is why he turned the card to look straight along the edge). It always devalues the card, but still holds some value as it can still be used in play. At a distance (assuming it was decently done and doesn't cover the art) it might be hard to tell, but up close it can be easy to spot depending on the lighting (the sharpie ink has a sort of oily glaze). Of course if it's on the edges it's just obvious. Corner crimping: the corner cutting machine used in Alpha (and iirc some beta?) wasn't particularly good, or was too dull, or something along those lines, so instead of a perfectly clean cut the rounded corners are bent slightly down as the cutting die pressed down on the cards. This is a useful indicator for fakes, as perfectly flat corners probably weren't using the same die.
Rudy grabs a Beta Island and says it's light played (when its near mint), shoves it back in the sleeve nicking it then slaps it on the edge of a stack of toploaders. Now it's light played..
This is somewhat unrelated, but hypothetically speaking, what would happen with the prices of magiccards once the couterfeits get so good even the the graders can't tell a real aplha card and a fake one apart. I would love to see a video on that.
Hey, I have some of this cards in my collection too. I had played Magic in the middle of the 90 and this days for 4 weeks. So I am asking you, have they any value? They are not in english but in german. So long Freddy (from Germany :D)
There are a few sets that honestly are always going to appreciate nicely over any given 5 or 10 year period. Alpha, Beta, Arabian Nights and Unlimited IMO... are pretty safe. ESPECIALLY the Alpha, Beta and Arbian sets... just such small print runs. I'd be mortgaging my house before I dumped any sizable positions in the original magic cards. You can buy another house, in 10 years how often do you thing decent condition Alpha / Beta product will hit the open market?
The unfortunate reality is collectibles like Magic are ultimately only really worth what people are willing to pay for them. Sad to see these cards going for such a low price, but it's hardly surprising with so much economic uncertainty.
Obviously not at the moment that Rudy bought it. The package deal wasn't worth the risk to anyone else... And since Rudy purchased it it is now only worth a hypothetical value because that particular card will never come onto the market again.
I've been noticing a lot of sellers putting the sleeves into toploaders facing the same way lately, is there a reason for that? I'd think it would be better to act like you were double-sleeving and put them in opening side first.
I thought this too until I tried it - it makes it possible for the card to slip out into the hard case where it can easily scratch on the way out. Best would be to put it in a perfect fit sleeve, then in the penny sleeve, then in the hard case.
Thought I saw some inking too on some of the blue cards, but on 2nd watch, maybe it was just just camera tricks. Rudy is handling them, so I hope he would notice.
Michael Edwards - you DON’T have to pay for it. Most non-Timmy’s on eBay are NOT buying these over-priced MTG product, judging by how long they sit unsold. Unfortunately, many people do overpay for CV19 related items, driven to do so out of fear and/or panic.

Alpha and beta will have black borders, and the unlimited will have white. Also the alpha cards will have much rounder corners than any other printing.

Yes well is there anything on earth that's worth more than people are willing to pay? That's kind of how the market works.

All kinds of things, including a $15 Lightning Bolt.
Path of diablo!! Rudy give it a try! It’s amazing !! Also what do you think about d4 so far?!
Be sure to catch the falling sword as high up as you possibly can -Rudy Fina
Does anyone have good tips to avoid MTG scams on ebay?
beautiful.
Use painter's tape on toploaders people!
Alpha Twiddle is now worth $100
Buy the dip.
How can I bid on anything when your are???? ;)
4 min card corner looks like it's inked.
I saw it too. The 2nd and 3rd Island have marked corners.
Thought I saw some inking too on some of the blue cards, but on 2nd watch, maybe it was just just camera tricks. Rudy is handling them, so I hope he would notice.
I thought so too but I believe it's a very slight angle catching the light on the corner caused by the cutting machine.
Blue painters tape people come on
yo rudy, nice sinkhole.. or was it stinkhole?
Wait... old school lands are worth something? Since when?
Alpha Islands are about 17 a piece. Check TCG
10:13 "Take my money, send me some old cardboard with ink on it" Wait, Rudy actually WANTS to buy inked cards?
They're cheaper and playable, probably makes them easier to move.
@@KingBobXVI yeah, but that's not really what Rudy tends to go for... as far as he's made public anyways.
yep, unlimited BGS 9.5 Demonic Tutor dropped $200. Glad I didn't buy it a month ago lol
Most MTG BGS cards aren’t selling because sellers are asking ridiculously high prices!!! Get real, sellers!
but lysol spray is selling for 70 a can.. i can't believe i have to pay that
Michael Edwards - you DON’T have to pay for it. Most non-Timmy’s on eBay are NOT buying these over-priced MTG product, judging by how long they sit unsold. Unfortunately, many people do overpay for CV19 related items, driven to do so out of fear and/or panic.
@@sylversyrfer6894 those hoarders with the lysol are lucky they don't live by me.. because in hard times only the strong survive and i would crush there ass and just take the cans..if something like this went on for a year crime would be alarming and unstoppable..an those hoarders would have something coming to them
Why would it matter if they give permission to be on your video or not after you own the cards now?!?
Time to build walls 😎
they way you handle cards makes me so nervous in my pants Rudy
I have a bunch of these... i wish I knew how to tell if they’re alpha/ beta or revised 🤦♀️
Alpha and beta will have black borders, and the unlimited will have white.
Also the alpha cards will have much rounder corners than any other printing.
Joseph Dietz Thanks, Joseph! I think mine are mostly unlimited but now I can go through them and find out!
That's an insanely cheap sale for what it is
"We are in a bear market". That aged terribly. 2020 ended up being an insanely good year in the market followed by a pretty good 2021 as well!
Rudy. Stay the course nobody has money and selling. When this over and people are more cautious about large crowds they will stay home and play magic the goothering2.69 with floppy tacos like the old days with no sleeve protection and chetto dusted fingers and drinks without coasters or use a modern card for one. Let the ripping of Chaos Orbs begin again.
Don't rip the cards people it was a joke. Be smart rip proxys. Not the ones people sell. For gods sake I can print my own or even better draw it with new art. Now it's one of a kind.
STAY THE COURSE
