Buying too much food is probably your 'Sierra training'. I love all those views from up high that you show. The river valleys are beautiful too, but you can't beat seeing for miles. Getting to the beginning of Oregon must seem such a milestone after so many months in California. That's the first vlog I've seen of a ceremony. Great fun to celebrate an awesome achievement and a good feeling when you wrote in the trail book I imagine.

Forgive me while I live vicariously through all your most amazing PCT adventures😎~Giant pancakes and tequila shots included🥞🥂!! Grew-up backpacking all over the Sierra Nevada Mountains (from Rancho Cuca in S. Cali) yet now have HBP from Lupus so Doc says not a great idea at those climbing altitudes😭...Oh well, thinking will start participating in supplying some of that delicious "Trail Magic" starting this Summertime😋:) I am enjoying every second of these beautifully shot videos, along with your calming narrative and SO appreciate taking all of us along for the loooooong hike🌠!!

Etna was my favorite PCT town. I stayed at the park and I ate a whole loaf of bread from that bakery.

Another nice video. I'm glad that you discovered wild blackberries. Another case of the trail provides. My backyard garden got overrun with thornless blackberries. I had to give a bunch of plants away. The food challenges often make people reject them for a day or more. You were smart not to try. Congrats on making it to Oregon. Happy Trails. Good Luck, Rick

Hi Mari, interesting scenery there. I like the pancake challenge. I am feeling hungry just thinking about it. We had blackberry bushes across the road from us in a vacant piece of land when we were living at our former house in Sydney. I remember as a teenager along with friends wanting to look tough by eating the blackberries, while they were still red and even green. The taste was ghastly, but we always made out that we enjoyed it!!! LOL. Anyway, take care. Robert.

I don't know how valid this observation is, or if it just pertained to this specific group of individuals, but there was a kind of competition between people from Ashland and people from Mt. Shasta. It was fueled entirely by the Ashland people. The Mt. Shasta people weren't at all interested in it. It included what area was better, and maybe who was more advanced esoterically(that's the wrong word, but the only one I could think of.). The Ashland people definitely had some really good food, though. I'm not from either place, but seriously doubt there is a better place than the Mt. Shasta area. Sedona isn't.
Aww - its nice to see someone I started with this far up trail. Did Christopher Robin still have his pooh bear on his pack? Great video and yay for escaping CA! lol

Do you stay in Ashland at all?? I can’t wait to find out. We have PCT hikers come through all the time. We’ve let people stay at our house before and take a shower/ get a hot meal.

Hey don’t worry. I grew up in OR and WA and we had thimbleberries everywhere and I still called them raspberries until I picked raspberries for Smuckers as a summer job when I was a teen. They are so yummy. Oregon blackberries are amazing. Some are technically Marion berries which only means they are a specific breed of blackberries. It must have been such a wonderful milestone to hit a new state. Hopefully you missed the horrid mosquito season. This was a tough year and many people didnt make it even that far this year because of the record snow. You are a hiking beast. 😉
