ABOUT ME:
Californian exploring the world. Here to share adventures and give you tips about travel, culture, language, and life.
One of the reasons I enjoy your videos is that they are so natural. You don't complain but we realise that thru hiking isn't all sunshine and roses by the eye rolls, shrugs and slightly ironical one-liners indicating that every day on trail isn't stunningly magnificent or that you're tired and could totally do without the next 10 miles. Great vlogs, Mari, and I'll be sorry when they come to an end.
😊
I'm like Silly Moose, I'm more into hiking alone with some social contact. But I need the time for myself, my thoughts. I hear you brother :D
I loved the view at 7:30, not that much to see but so storytelling. Also loved the music in this one.
I'm not watching any of the post-hike videos until after I finish the actual hike videos. Thanks for working on them and getting them out!
Mari I so enjoy watching you and Nick. 20+ miles seems like a walk in the park!! Watching your videos is so inspiring. Thank you for taking the time to film and edit the story of your lives on the PCT. Happy International Womens Day.
Cheers Tracy! 😊
Always a pleasure to watch your videos before starting work. Hike On.
I have been excited all day for this! :)
😊
Silly Moose doesn't blink that often
Seeing footage of walking through old lava fields. Reminds me of when I use to walk through old lava fields fields. When I use to go to Tongariro a fair bit when I use to live in Auckland.
YAY ASHLAND! I’m so glad you were able to hang out in our little town. I love this series so much. 💕
It was one of my favorite towns for sure!
Had such a lovely time with you folks!
Woah, last video I saw you and nick were in still in nz, that was a while ago. Your present hiking journey looks absolutely spectacular and just being able to 'reconnect with nature is so good for the mind and spirit. Safe travels, and looking forward to tuning into the next one. :)
Cheers Tommy!
I have really enjoyed watching your PCT videos. I wish there was a playlist so that I could watch all the PCT thru hike continuously. Thanks - Jerry
There is a playlist! ruclips.net/p/PLU_lUDBq5HMxNG3LKX22eYu5fG7Vhjym5 😊
Some long mile days, so great.
You guys are so fun to follow.
I’m so excited for another video! 👏🏻👏🏻
i anxiously wait for ur vids. keep em comin Mari. Lub you 😍
You're in one of the most beautiful sections of the pct, the Sky lakes wilderness and seven lakes basin are my backyard it's awesome. Great videos keep it up
Great video Mari...enjoyed the music as well...great views...neat to meet up with fellow hikers and have a good meal....!!!
10 by 10 good job.
Your right, in your real life if someone told you that you needed to walk 22 miles you would laugh. I know the experience!!
Excellent miles. Blessings
Oh Crater lake! Bucket list for sure. Thanks for filming even though your iPad conked out.
Such great videos Mari, so positive. Question for Nick. How were the Aarn balance pockets? I have them and wondered if you were happy to have them on the PCT. I'm going 2021. Looking forward to seeing the rest of OR and WA.
KUSKUS AND CHEES..KEEPS THE MYSTERY ALIVE...LOL
Just another day in the life😎
Wow you did really well hiking thru the southern Oregon lava fields. 34 was a lot of miles when you walk thru lava rock. If you lose tent stakes and you have a decent knife you can use little twigs. But glad you found rocks that work. Such a bummer to be setting up in the dark after a long day and realize you lost part of your tent set up when all you want to do is sleep. Looking forward to your video with f crater lake. One of my favorite parts of the world
Do we have to wait till next week to find out if you got your tent poles back?
Ya, that's what I am waiting for too! :)
Nice effort love from India Meri 👍
Curious you eat separately. Is it food choices or bring what you eat, eat what you bring.
Kayaked Malborough sounds with a club, we all put in for food as a group. Was weird.
Now my partner would get annoyed if I ate separately.
So what is your spin?
Did you take in a play at the Ashland Shakespeare Festival? If not, you missed out on something that makes Ashland Ashland.
Unfortunately no! But it's a good excuse to go back one day :)
Hi Mari, how are you nick and baby doing? Hope all is well.
We're all doing well! I just posted a new update video if you're interested! 😊
Not being able to flip in 2020 is certainly going to make for interesting hiking, not that it put you and Nick off. Ploughing thru the miles now.
Yeah it will be interesting to see how it changes for people!
OK Mari, WHAT IS THE DEAL WITH NICK!!!??? Whenever I see video of him hiking, he always is carrying his poles, not using them. Are they just counterweights? Is ha a masochist? Is it a test to see if we are paying attention? Inquiring minds want to know!!!!
Haha you might be overthinking this
Ah Mari, these vlogs need to be at least 2 hours long!! Love Sundays.
I realized my foot was sore because of my shoes lacking cushion walking on the LAVA rocks in that area for the first time. I really wanted to switch to boots. I think Nick felt the same thing there. Nevertheless, I hope you enjoyed great view without MOSQUITO ARMY!!! ^^
I missed all the trail angels, and you missed all the ARMY all the way thru Washington. haha
I am learning here that when one takes a needed zero and really enjoys it, it is very hard to get back in the grind again. Well you two are real troopers to carry on and get the job done. Nice low beat and fluent music. Steady as you go, you have your pace. You're like a well oiled machine. Theres no stopping you now! 🥰👍
I really like your style of music that you put with your videos. What where some playlists that you listened to while on trail?
Nick looks better w/ a GROOMED beard, 1cm long
💚💚
Mari you looked very down/angry in this video... hope you were ok..... you're vibe didn't look right...
The trail is challenging and brings up many emotions/vibes. I don't think there is a "right" and it would be a disservice to all of the viewers to only show happy/excited times
Mari Johnson totally agree!!! Anyways, just showing some love! Love all you do and your vids!!! Keep up the great work!!!
Nick, you can do it! PCT
I love following yours and Nick's journey through the PCT. Awesome VLOGs. The most poignant video was just before you left Christchurch. It was rather somber because of the shooting at the Mosques. Today is the anniversary of that very dark event here. I'm actually ready to take a trip back to California but the COVID-19 issue has that on hold. Anywho, wishing the best for both of you!
Cheers Tony! Wish you well
It was great to binge watch your video collection. My wife and I were married in San Francisco and we did our honeymoon backpacking thru nz for 10 days. Absolutely gorgeous! You guys are very lucky yo be surrounded by such beauty! We did 2 days in the whirinaki rain forest, 3 days in mt tongairairo National park and 2 days in mt taranaki national park. Saw a private cave with the glow worms and did a hangi one night on the beach! Delicious! Beautiful! You guys are great together and I hope you guys are still goin strong! Best of luck! - Hammocker on the cheap.
Sounds like a fantastic honeymoon! Glad you enjoyed NZ. All the best to you and your wife!
Mari Johnson thank you. 22 years! Raised 2 very strong and independent young women and just livin’. Sometimes with raising kids or marriage, you gotta put the pickup in 4wheel low and get up and over the big rocks! Take it slow and plan out your path you get past! Again, great vids!
