Roy Castle, a truly epic and motivational character. I shall never forget his shows since they inspired me to so many things. Thank you Roy, and may you rest in peace.
My middle boys are becoming at an age where I played them this song and explained about the late great Roy Castle. I explained what Roy was talking about, and that you have to work hard to succeed. I honestly think it got through to them. Later that evening, upon retiring to bed,I heard the song coming from one of my lads' bedrooms. God Bless you Roy.x
"Welcome to BBC wednesday afternoon childrens entertainment! Now let's sit down for Critical Race Theory and Diversity Hour with Aphare Tickbox. Today's episode, why Britain is sh1t and we should be ashamed of everything we ever achieved, episode 15".
Wow, I was also in this band, in the trumpet section! I still have the green shirt too! Does anyone have the full clip of from the show? Please if you have the full clip you need to upload it! I lost it years ago when the VHS collection was thrown out... I remember that we weren't allowed to blow the spit out of the instruments (although we all did) as the floor was painted and it created a white paste which got trodden into the carpets outside the studio!
Whenever I look at my pills I sing "Medication, ooh, medication. Medication, that's what you need. If ya feeling kinda faint or ya lickin' wall paint, ooh, medication's what you need.
I think i've said something like this already but it's easy to forget how big this show actually was and that's not just because it was in TC1! I'm sure if Roy was still with us, it would have just about kept momentum and still be around today with Blue Peter and Newsround. But they destroyed the format. Shame. Or perhaps times have changed?
@rightfredsdead Good point, I suppose she might! (I would hope that you accidentally used the singular instead of the plural 'Frauen': but perhaps that is just me being an optimist!) So, let's look out for 'Bassoon Frau'!
@rightfredsdead No, the origin of my username is a play on words: the word 'bassoon' has a French origin; the word Meister is German. I have, on purpose, not used the Germanic word for bassoon, but I have used the German 'Meister', which is very close to the English literal translation "master". My apologies - I really thought that the nature of my username was rudimentarily obvious! I will think better when I next come up with a username.
@rightfredsdead It's a good job your sense of humour seems to be on the same lines as mine! I'm not quite sure how you become to be certain of my sexuality (may I assume you are using that sense of the word 'gay'?). Being a 'master of one's instrument' (if I may bring the conversation to your level) should be something to make one proud: however, I don't see where coloured double-reed instruments come into it. This is the internet - who cares about my sexuality (apart from, seemingly, you)?
@rightfredsdead Oh dear, I assumed my user-name might give a clue as to what I play. If I played the piano, my username might well be 'PianoMeister' instead... And as to my ethnic background - this is on the internet: who cares?
Whenever I look at my children I think about patience and dedication ♥️🙏🏼🇬🇧⭐️ thanks Roy xxx
Roy was a staple of my 80s childhood bless him.
yes and mine 28 years arealdy passed long time man

Just a really nice bloke. Him and Tony Hart were proper role models.

I thought the records were boring, but I loved the bit at the end, when Roy would play the trumpet 🎺
He made a Jazz lover out of me
God rest you Roy ☓
The days when they had real decent shows for children.
"Welcome to BBC wednesday afternoon childrens entertainment! Now let's sit down for Critical Race Theory and Diversity Hour with Aphare Tickbox. Today's episode, why Britain is sh1t and we should be ashamed of everything we ever achieved, episode 15".
Very positive show with a positive song at the end
Great show but of course, sadly one of the few where children were safe at the BBC.
😂 yeah like jim'll fixit and the rolf harris show, and gary glitter on top of the pops......
Yeah, was a great time for kiddy fiddlers tv.

Aye Gen Z professional victims who prefer feelings to facts 🤪
there were one or two victims in the eighties as I remember. Kid in my class hanged himself
The end of the 21st series of Record Breakers, from December 1992. A live performance of "Dedication" featuring 459 musicians! THANKS ROY!
Wow, that brings back a few memories - I played in that band!
I still have the tee-shirt, though it's somewhat faded!
I couldn't sleep, its 4:27am in the UK 2023, very random but this song pop into my head 😂😊
Whenever I look at my pills I sing "Medication, ooh, medication. Medication, that's what you need. If ya feeling kinda faint or ya lickin' wall paint, ooh, medication's what you need.

We used to sing something similar when we were kids.
Oh my God....so do my sister and I!!! 😂😂😂👍🏾
Ok.... I came looking for this video because today I sang this while looking for my meds 😂

A great man, taken too soon because of passive smoking!
Just a terrific presenter and human being.

Lovely to see....hope a dvd comes out one day...:)
MORE LIKE SORDID CONFESSIONS .. .
I used to love this show. I’m 47 and I’ve just had this memory triggered. I remember all the words, and the adjudicator was called Norris Mcwhirter 😂
Best flute player in Ditchingham
He was , sort of like, the school teacher you wanted to have and deserved.
A PEDO YOU MEAN ... ?
😊😊😊
tv gold
I miss the 80s
It's from 1992.
The last show with Roy Castle R.I.P
I couldn’t believe it when he died. I remember my dad telling us. Came right out of the blue. 30 years ago. He was smashing.
Every Friday they said be the best :)
Appropriately playing us out on Record Breakers with an up to date rendition of Dedications featuring Roy and Cheryl.
great show.
Is that Ed Milliband at the piano?

If I could take everyone back to 1980 I would 😃
Love Roy
Medications what u need i can meditate with my eyes open
The Pianist at 1:24 appears to be Ed Milliband!
FYI it's Jason Rebello who now works with Jeff Beck
I hate the last 20 years.
@rightfredsdead Good point, I suppose she might! (I would hope that you accidentally used the singular instead of the plural 'Frauen': but perhaps that is just me being an optimist!)
So, let's look out for 'Bassoon Frau'!
Roy died on my 22nd birthday. My surname is Castle!
I heard his Wife was a heavy smoker , anyone know if that's true ?
And Andi Peters was the biggest pudding in the Broom Cupboard at that precise moment.
Bloody Ed Miliband on the piano.
@ Fireman Sam. Thankyou for the info .
@Mootland666 That would be Sirius by the Alan Parsons Project.
Even an appearance from stevie wonder

U see there all not wise
Designation is better
Roy castle was a bit of a show off. He was always blowing his own trumpet.
Dedication is all well and good. But I reckon a cure for cancer what what Roy Castle needed.
Welcome to the RUclips comments section. I'll be your guide...
@ Fireman Sam. Thankyou for the info .
