I'm a Hindustani Zoroastrian from India. Both my parents were Zoroastrian, so I was born into the faith & chose the faith because it is Good & Sound. It makes perfect sense to me, & I feel proud to be a Zoroastrian. That said, I don't believe in conversion!! When you convert some1, you do so because yours is better than theirs - And that in it self is wrong!! I prefer my faith to Christianity & Islam, but I know many Christians & Muslims who would disagree & argue that theirs is better - because they are the prominent & largest of all religious faiths. To them I say Zoroastrians focus on quality over quantity so although only a few, we are pure & going strong. Zoroastrian Parsis have also been respectful of allll religious faiths, and have even adopted some Hindu customs into our prayer rituals, because they comfort and suit us, and converting or coursing others is NOT something we practice as a rule. We don't preach our religion to be better, we simply believe it to be good - If practiced properly, because Good Thoughts, Good Words & Good Deeds is a part of EVERY religious teaching, but PROMINANT in Zoroastrianism. I guarantee you, that the only reason we have survived without combat & conflict allll the years, after we escaped Mughal invasion in Iran, and why Iranians are able to practice Zoroastrianism today is because we don't push conversion or compete with other faiths. It saddens me when people do, because that will in fact create problems & conflicts, as we see amongst Christians, Muslims Jews for centuries. Other faiths who use this "better than" or invite/convert others at random, create problems and bitterness, & might want to consider this. PeacePlease!!

They blended in the Dharmic civilization as their priest pointed it to the Gujarat king who gave them asylum as ‘sugar in a full cup of milk’ and they never betrayed us. They are the most loyal, progressive citizens of India as a minority, unlike the virulent and pestilent ones who invaded us later to establish hegemony and corroding the society through conversion! I acquired translations of The Avesta along with other texts and learned about The Religion of Light many years ago. It changed my life. Zoroastrians have earned their good reputations for honesty and many other good qualities. It is a character building faith ithat stands in contrast to our era of social disintegration.

Not as much as conversions as reversion. People of Iranic origin donot convert to the Din-e-Mazdayasni as much as they revert back to it. Because that was their faith of their forefathers. However people of non Iranic origins also do join the religion and in that respect you can say that is conversion. But IMO it is more important to have reversions. But conversions are allowed.

The scriptures say formal conversion is part of the religion in Denkard 4, 5 and there was a process detailed in Denkard 4 involving making converts study materials. Whereas in the Herbedestan there is a passage mentioning restrictions formal converts are made to follow.
Infact Zoroastrians are thought to have invented formal conversion.
The remnants of Persian royalty continued it in China after they ran there but it was seen as a hostile act later on and they were persecuted out of existence.

According to an article on the World History website*, the Persian prophet Zoroaster lived sometime 1,500 and 1,000 B.C. At that time, the prominent religion of Persia was known as Mazdayasna or Mazdaism (devotion to Mazda) regarded Ahura Mazda as the greatest of a pantheon of gods and taught that life is a struggle between the forces of light and goodness and those of darkness and evil.
Zoroaster claimed to have received a revelation that Ahura Mazda was the creator and sustainer of all things and should, therefore, be worshiped exclusively.
If I understand the dates correctly, the doctrines of Zoroaster were opposed by the Persian polytheists until Zoroastrianism became the official religion of the Persian Empire sometime after the Babylonian captivity of the southern kingdom of Judah in 597 B.C.
In 539 B.C. the Persians conquered Babylon, thus ending the Babylonian Empire. About 537, The Persian king, Cyrus, gave the Hebrews permission to return to Judea. (See Ezra 1:1-4.) About 518 B.C. the Persian king, Darius, again issued a decree giving Hebrews permission to return to Judea. (See Ezra 6:1-12.)
It seems that it wasn’t until 457, B.C. (some say 458) when the Persian king, Artaxerxes, not only decreed that the Hebrews could return to Judea but provided the financial wherewithal to rebuild the temple and reinstitute its services. (See Ezra 7:11-28.)
This raises an interesting question: To what extent did the religion of the Hebrews influence the religion of the Persons and/or to what extent did the religion of the Persians influence the religion of the Hebrews?
Zoroastrianism continued to be the official state religion of Persia until the Muslim/Arab invasion of 651 A.D.
Zoroastrianism rests of five basic principles:
The supreme god is Ahura Mazda.
    Ahura Mazda is all good.
His eternal opponent, Angra Mainyu, is all evil.
Goodness is apparent through good thoughts, good words and good deeds.
Each individual has free will to choose between good and evil.
“The central value of the faith was human free will. If one followed the precepts of Ahura Mazda, one lived a fulfilling life; if not, one became tangled in deceit and experienced strife and confusion. Starting with the Five Principles as the basis for one's decision, one was then to express one's faith through the fourth one - goodness is apparent through good thoughts, good words, and good deeds - and one practiced this through:
Telling the truth at all times - especially keeping promises
Practicing charity to all - especially those less fortunate
Showing love for others - even if they did not return the sentiment
Moderation in all things - especially in diet.”
If your religion is personal, how do your personal beliefs compare with those listed above?
If your religion is institutional, how do the doctrines of your religion compare with those listed above?

America will fail when simple kindness is no longer valued as a virtue that binds the fabric of society. History is full of stories of whole civilizations that came into power thru rapacious force, violence, conquest, war. But then, eventually they all fail for the same reasons. Lack of kindness leads to lack of safety. Lack of trust leads to lack of security. Lack of cohesion leads to chaos. Lack of stability. . .and they all fall down. Wash, rinse, repeat.

well... Zoroastrinism actually worships God (Ahura Mazda). Same as Christianity. The three wise men who visited Child Jesus were Persian Zoroastrians who came to see the Messiah and to Spread the good news of Messiah coming to Iranians. However, after Islam's invasion, they were killed or forced to convert.

@@Morkorio its nothing like christianity, there is no messiah in Zoroastrianism, its concept of good and evil is based on vedic religion and ahura mazda is similar to vishnu/varuna. Though later hindu religion moved away from the concept of good and evil and considered them as superficial with idea of brahman who is neutral, the plus point of zoroastrianism is that its not intolerant of other religion like abrahamic ones who condemn others to hell.

Christianity and Islam are not abrahamic .
They do not believe in the god of the jews .
Only christianity and islam are intolerent and need to convert you .
Judaism is not intolerant of other relegions .
Unless those relegions practise child sacrifice .
Judaism is not against conversian .
They just want the best people to convert .
Islam and Christianity are like a daycare where if you want to work their all you need to do is say i love children .
If a daycare excepts employees like this you will end up with pedophiles and serial killers .
Islam and Christianity are based on taking knowledge from judaism and twisting that knowledge to control a man his mind to the core .
It is not a suprise that to this day the jewish people fight for their ancestral homeland that is 20.000 km2 in area vs the christians and muslims that control millions of square kilometers and have not only killed the jews in their lands for 2000 years , but went on to kill millions of others wherever they went .
Relegions based on theft and dishonesty (Christianity and islam ) are always going to lead to evil , since they where corrupted from the start by their evil actions .

    Young Iranians?
I would be happier to see a growing interest in structuring our understanding of physical nature through physical evidence, reason and the practices of science.
We don't need more ways to practice superstition and evidence-free thinking.
1:00 Can we only feel special and proud of ourselves by separating ourselves off into a special group, bound by a set of irrational beliefs? Can't we simply be happy to be human beings, like all the other human beings on Earth? By separating ourselves off and differentiating ourselves from other groups we create the groundwork for seeing ourselves not only as special, but superior. We don't need to be part of an in group to cultivate the universal love that so many religions profess to preach but so often fail to practice. In fact, by walling ourselves off with our special group, we create barriers to universal love.

I'm very very very interested in Zoroastrianism - I've studied some of this history and culture and just noticed that very well read, intelligent European men like the German philosopher Frederick Nietzsche referenced this religion "Thus Spoke Zarathustra", but he didn't seem to really embrace it, he went back to just exposing and bashing Judeo Christianity as an alien, slave religion. Nietzsche was a hero worshipper to the German composer Richard Wagner especially is Pagan Ring Cycle. Then when Wagner went back to composing Judeo Christian operas, Nietzsche despaired and went crazy.
IMO Zoroastrianism got a bad rap in the West - Greece, Roman, later the Christian Middle Ages because of Classical Greece's conflicts with Persia - that whole (the 300 Spartan myth). The Greeks depicted Persians as all ugly, dark, hairy, short barbarians from the East always looking to overwhelm, conquer enslave the fair Greeks and other Europeans. This has been translated to Persia/Iran under Islam where Persians are depicted as those Ayathola Khomeni crazed Imans who don't bathe, shave and want to stone everybody to death. Another really gross exaggeration.
I've noticed that a lot of Persian/Iranian women now are very tall and very attractive - one was flirting with me when I was attending an anti Sharia Law protest here in Chicago.
One other point (sorry I'm rambling), why doesn't the Zoroastrian religion allow for converts - particularly healthy, intelligent (not bad looking American /Europeans)?
That was is a secret to the spread of Christianity and Islam - both will take pretty much anyone.
    Keep the faith,
    Jaye

Canonically it does in the Denkard and Vendidad. The Denkard mentions that a convert must undergo a process called the study of the Ganj-i-Shaspigan before conversion. A person who does not know the sins of the religion is given a second chance to not do them again once they learn of the religion and convert. The Herbedestan body of literature even states that once a man converts he may keep any existing wives or children, but he is not allowed to procreate or marry outside of the religion anymore unless his spouse also converts. Same for if a single person converts.
Zoroastrians in China continued to proselytize after the fall of the Sasanian Empire and apparently numbered more than the Indian diaspora once before the events of the Lushan Rebellion led to the Tang Dynasty cracking down on it, and banning Han people converting to it. They claimed Zoroastrians were tampering with 'han culture' and are alleged to have killed 5000 proselytizing priests or so the story goes.
