    So how can this be used as a compact kit as 6 of the 9 pads are being used and leaves only 3 pads for toms, kick, cymbals etc?

    Just bought one. Can you recommend a kick pedal and a snare?
    I am a synth guy but I'd like to use this as a small drum kit.

    1.3 has been out for a while now and still there is not software to edit the kits and sounds in the module. I had to add 40 kits for a band I am joining. Each song a new kit.. Took ages to enter all the bloody names of the songs with the dial. I want to be able to edit or create a kit, navigate and finds sounds for it and name it from a PC.

    Hi @CARV.R you're wrong. You need to use a TS cable and not a TRS cable. It doesn't work with a TRS cable but it does (more or less, it's really hard to get to the pads in the middle) with a TS. You can probably adjust a bit from the menu the open/close position but it doesn't seem to do much...

    Thanks for the tutorial, it’s What was looking for, I think the next upgrade should be to use wave A and Wave B in orden to use less pads for this same hi hat feature, so instead of using 3 or 6 pads we could reduce it to 2 or 3, I don’t know, sounds Like a Great update, quick question, why you used pads 1,2 and 3 and then jump to 7,8 and 9??

    Any chance you could use the external pad outputs (even if no pads are connected) for building out this grouping? Does the multipad allow you to select the external pad through the UI if nothing is connected?
    Would be super nice to keep the main pads open and map this hi-hat grouping to an external hi-hat pad.

    • @CARV.R
      @CARV.R  4 года назад +2

      At this time, you can only access the external pads when there is something connected to those ports. This feature request has already been submitted to the Alesis team. 😌

      @@CARV.R Thanks for the response. This would be a very nice feature for variable trigger groups; I'll keep an eye out for any firmware updates. Hi, can you incorporate a chic sound in addition to the 6 grouped pads for the hi hat? And can you trigger a chic sound from a semi open position? I have mine working but i can only trigger the chic from a fully open position. Reason i’m asking is i want to choke the semi open HH sounds using the chic. Right now, I can only choke the fully open HH.

    • @CARV.R

      They are not compatible, the pad may work on its own but not with a Hi Hat stand.

      @@CARV.R Thanks. Do you happen to know if compatibility with the multipad together with the Alesis DM10 hi-hat pad (and hi-hat footpedal) could be an option for a future update?

    • @CARV.R
      @CARV.R  3 года назад +1

      @@TheReal_Animale Not 100% sure, companies implement new features depending on how much demand there is for them, so if there's only a handful of people asking, then most likely not. You can check Alesis online forums and see if it's popular but I haven't heard of it. it's not even compatible with the Hi-Hats on the new Alesis flagship kits so 🤷‍♀️

    • @TheReal_Animale

      @@CARV.R Thx. Your last remark answers the last question I had. It's weird they didn't make a pretty useful DMpad compatible with this Multipad, but did with the RealHat pedal.
      I think they don't want to cannibalize on this feature regarding their Strike e-drum sets because so many people still possess older DM parts, but still a pity. I'm curious to see what the next update brings.

    • @CARV.R

      FD8 and FD9 Roland pedals are not recommended. Yamaha hardware is typically proprietary to their modules. Kat Percussion is another company that could work besides the Alesis Real Hat Pedal.

  • @Knardsh
    @Knardsh 10 месяцев назад

    wait hows it basically " a drum kit" as you say at the end if all the pads are now dedicated to the HH?? ?

    • @CARV.R
      @CARV.R  10 месяцев назад

      You don't need to use all of the pads, that's only if you really want a lot of definition out of your hi-hat, you can also connect five external triggers to the back of the multipad, so yes it's essentially a full drum kit if you use the back ports aswell

    • @Knardsh
      @Knardsh 10 месяцев назад

      @@CARV.R ok yeah. Assuming one wants natural, expressive HHs, then it takes up the all the pads. That’s a bummer but I guess maybe that’s what this price point can offer.

    • @Knardsh
      @Knardsh 10 месяцев назад

      @@CARV.R do you happen to know of another option, perhaps in combination with this that would allow for expressive HHs and keep a some pads available? Without being too much more expensive.. can the same concept work here but on a different sample pad with multiple zones or whatever? Does one of those 5 external inputs only allow for basically one instrument (while the expressive HH is being treated like a dif one for each type of expression..)? New to percussion/ sample pads, so idk abt that all. Thnx

  • @Gruuvin1

    By the time you were finished stacking nine hat samples, it looked like the pedal was only selecting three of them: one closed and two mostly open. Regardless, can you then dedicate that stack to a single pad and use the other eight pads for other drums and cymbals?

    • @CARV.R
      @CARV.R  2 года назад

      That's because I was releasing the hi-hat pedal too fast and it ran through the sounds all the way up to the open sounds really quickly. You cannot, if you want multiple hi-hat sounds you have to use multiple pads. I would recommend just making a simple three sound stack with the bottom three pads, then you have full usage of the other six pads and external triggers.

      I ended up buying the Alesis Hi-Hat pedal and Roland KT-10 Kick Pedal. The KT-10 is expensive but AMAZING! Incredibly smooth and quiet. Of course, all works great with the Multipad. I also have two of the Roland BT-1 triggers which adds two additional pads to the Multipad’s 9. I configured an acoustic kit with snare, snare rim, hi-hat open/close, 3 toms, a ride edge, a tambourine, a cowbell and of course a kick drum. Very nice and compact kit.

      I have the older Roland FD-8 Hi-Hat Pedal. It works with the Alesis Multipad, but I added 4 hi-hat sounds and was only able to get 3 sounds out of it. I moved and changed the groups, etc.. and still only got 3 sounds not 4, but it works great. Maybe the newer FD-9 or later will get you more sounds. I also have the Roland KT-10 kick pedal and it works great and I hooked up my Roland pd-120 and pd-125 as a snare and it works great, but not a lot of variation in sound velocity. When I hit the Roland snare, maybe 3 levels of sound difference. I also hooked up a Boss dual foot switch FS-5 - works.

But it just switches between the first and the last pad. If your really lucky, it sometimes reaches one of the pads in the middle. But this does not happen while regular playing. In fact it doesn't work at all as shown in the video. So please don't say "Now you can have like an acoustic drummer", if it really doesn't work!
