    Social Security admin needs to step it up. Most of the WEP payments shouldn't be that hard since a comp program should be able to easily identify and remove the penalty.
    These people would then fall under standard benefits.

      Their admin costs have been slashed year after year, 1000+ people retire each day, and there's still a hiring freeze. But the 3% are demanding priority. A sad day for common sense

    When I learned the temp head of SSA is 82 years old, my heart sank. She doesn't have a clue how to implement this. Trump needs to fire her now because a one year delay is not acceptable. Lord knows, he fires everybody else. Put his business efficiency expert he has chosen into office immediately. Maybe he can light a fire under them. I thought Ways and Means asked her how much money and manpower she'd need to implement it. So shouldn't be an excuse.

    To all affected by WEP/GPO please write to the SSA website to voice your displeasure with the update stating that it will take 1 year or more to update and send out the monthly SS checks and up to 2 years to send out the retroactive payment. This is simply the SSA Commissioner playing politics for more funding and manpower at the expense of public employee retirees. I also ask that you contact your House Representative and Senators to hold the SSA Commissioner's feet to the fire in sending out our adjusted monthly SS checks and retroactive check in a timely manner.

    Shouldn't the SSA be required to add interest to the paymemts because of the protracted delays for those that qualify for Social Security Fairness Act payments?

    • @moneyinstructor
      @moneyinstructor  9 дней назад +3

      That's a really valid point! Unfortunately, the SSA isn’t required to add interest to delayed payments, even when those delays are significant. It can definitely feel unfair, especially when people are relying on that money. Hopefully, more pressure on the system could bring changes like that in the future, but for now, it’s not something they’re offering. We will try and update you here on the channel if anything changes.

    Hi, Will this delay affect our regular basic monthly payments at all? In other words, will our regular (previous amount) monthly payments still be issued on time or are ALL SS checks being delayed?? GULP.....

    • @moneyinstructor
      @moneyinstructor  9 дней назад +2

      Great question, and I get why this could feel stressful. From what we know, the delays mostly affect adjustments and retroactive payments related to the Fairness Act, not regular monthly Social Security payments. Your usual monthly checks should still arrive on time, so no need for a "gulp" just yet. If anything changes, we will try and update you here on the channel.
