First of all, good catch! The error there was my own. I meant to say something like what Jimmy pointed out to you back in 2000: that “there are nowhere near one hundred canons [in the Council of Trent] devoted to the subject of salvation.” Of the 131 (actually 132) anathemas in Trent, many of them aren’t condemnations of Protestant soteriology, or about soteriology at all, or directed against Protestantism at all. For instance, there are anathemas against those who deny original sin, or who believe “that man may be justified before God by his own works” apart from grace; etc. So it’s still false that the Council of Trent condemns Protestants over 100 times (or even that it intends to do so), but I should have worded that more carefully, and so I apologize. Second, I’d love to hear your thoughts about the rest of the video, particularly things like your claim about belief in the Assumption of Mary being invented in the 20th century. Third, if you’d ever be interested in debating me on one of these bigger questions, I’d be as accommodating as I can to make it happen.
@@JosephHeschmeyer I hope he takes the debate challenge. But i am sure he wont. Anti Catholics always like to say what they want without being accountable and a debate would make him answer to his blatant falsehoods. He wont touch it with a ten foot poll.
Sadly I've met this man. It was last year about a week after I was confirmed. My parents are both Protestant and we're hoping Mike would “help me see through the Catholic lies”. Honestly, it was one of the worst two hours of my life. He made me want to puke. The lies he told were such nonsense. The environment of this lecture was the most bizarre thing I have ever encountered. It felt like I was in some kind of cult. I wanted to run out of there as fast as I could. To make this story even sadder, my father is still in contact with him and now both of them are trying to tear my engagement apart. I am engaged to a wonderful Catholic man and could not be happier. If anyone reads this could you please pray for us? It's been an excruciating time in my life.
The 27 books of the New Testament was compiled at the end of the 4th century by the Catholic Church. The list of Bishop Athanasius of Alexandria was adopted by the Church. So, one may ask what books of the New Testament does Mike use? If there is a parallel Church from the beginning, one may like to ask which books are used as scripture by the likes of Mike? The fact that he quoted from the books of the Catholic Church proved that he is a false teacher. His church has no history, no scripture dating back from the 1st century
I’ve listened to Mike Gendron extensively and I’ve come to one of two conclusions: Either Mike (1) slept through Mass or (2) he was never Catholic in the first place.
Thats very generous of you to imply honest mistake. It think he is just evil and of the devil. Just look at his face, he looks like a repulsive evil is contorting his face
I think many ex-Catholics like him were not properly Cathetized and became Protestants and the Protestants put them up on a pedestal and made them out to be experts and made them feel important and that made them even more brazen to be anti-Catholic.
It's quite incredible for him to profess that the Church had been Bible-only for 1.600 years... But he is probably asserting that some kind of Bible-only born-again remnant church existed during that time. No idea how that church could have been founded by Christ since the New Testament was not even written when Christ founded the Church.
You mean the fact that he called out the Roman Catholic Church as corrupt and not as a Christian denomination has upset you by the truth and now you're seeking confirmation bias?
Talk about shameless, this guy says forbidding to marry has nothing to do with the Catholic Church. The CC is famous for forbidding it's priestcraft to marry. This guy is a liar and Catholics lap it up.
Ever since the satanic cult of sola scriptura a man made tradition invented by a devil possessed man was introduced five hundred years ago many such idiots were doing all sorts of nonsense in order to justify their satanic theology and to undermine the Church that Jesus established under the stewardship of Peter long before the compilation and cannonisation of the holy Bible

Thank you!! I was just told I was “too scared to watch that anti-catholic video because it would prove to me how wrong the R.C.C. is, and I couldn’t stand to be proven wrong.”🙄 I was 20 minutes into the video and kicking myself for not taking notes on all the blatant lies and half lines of scripture which was being taken out of context.
A lot of Protestants have brought up Mike Gendron to me of late, dropping his video and leaving me to explain why he failed basic catechesis. Thanks for saving me a lot of work with your amazing apologetics!
Right. He failed basic catechesis after more than 30 years in the Catholic church. But you haven't. The creator of this video hasn't. But, everyone who has left the Catholic church, they unanimously have. This is such an Islamic mindset where only those in the religion understand the language of the doctrine and theology and all those that leave are always weak in the faith. It's the same mindset to those that leave the group. And, it's exactly what defines a cult mentality. I have never been linked or bound to a church or denomination, but if I was, the last one on earth has pedophilic priests, exalts Mary above her station and of course places sacraments which are unbiblical between man and God. Not even Christ, who is our sole mediator and intercessor. Catholicism my friend, cannot be defended, and it is not worth your soul to remain there. Repent, and come back to Christ. 1 Corinthians 15:1-4, John 3:16, Romans 10:9-10, 2 Cor 5:21, Acts 2:38, 1 John 5:13, Romans 8:1-4, Ephesians 2:8-9, John 6:40.
@@markmeyer4532 Joe Heschmeyer and I aren't saying what Muslims and OSAS Protestants say when they claim "if they understood, they'd be one of us" or "they left because they were never saved to begin with." We're saying, very literally, Mike Gendron doesn't know what the Catholic Church even teaches, which takes the wind out of his claims that he knows enough about Catholicism to decide against it. On your points: 1. Recent reports have shown Protestant denominations with a bigger sex abuse problem than Catholics, but that point is irrelevant; the apostles didn't leave Jesus for Judas, so neither should we leave His Church because sinners are in it. 2. All generations will call Mary blessed. That's not exalting her above her station, but respecting that no human being ever has or ever will been closer to Christ or cared for him more deeply. 3. Jesus instituted the sacraments, so it's a bit bizarre to use them as an argument against Christians who follow them. 4. Jesus is our sole mediator and intercessor before the Father, but not our sole mediator or intercessor. If He were, then nobody could pray for each other, have pastors, or teach each other anything. But the Bible commands otherwise. 5. Those Bible verses are all believed and followed by Catholics. I'm not sure what standard you want me or us to repent by, as Protestants all disagree on those. Personally, I'm sticking to the Church that Jesus founded, and would never leave it for traditions of men. I just don't any reason why it would make sense to embrace the Christianity of the last few centuries over the Christianity of the first two. A great book on this is The Early Church Was the Catholic Church by Joe Heschmeyer, the man in the above video, which is so replete with the writings of the Church Fathers and other quotations you'll find virtually nothing in it that could be construed as opinion.
@@markmeyer4532 The problem is not about to someone failing basic catechesis and another one not failing. This is a subjective apraisal. The problem with Mike Gedron is not he failed basic catechesis more than 30 years rather he's a accomplished liar about the Catholic Church with independence of his knowledge of catholic doctrine. That's worse than ignorance.
Dream on, Mark. I used to think like you, and was in open rebellion against the Church Christ founded. It's been a long time coming, but I humbled myself, gave up being my own authority, and decided to finally return (hopefully for the final time) to His Church as of yesterday.
I was a Baptist for over 50 years. I read the Church Fathers on topics such as the Trinity, Church, Papacy, Eucharist, Canon, Mary, Communion of Saints or Relics and... I became a Catholic! There I stood, I could do no other.
Most Church Fathers were not so early. Polycarp was the closest to John the divinel and he wrote, I am a student of scripture. ( no mention of added revelation) Example:Jerome wrote late in the three hundred A.D. Some of these early writers would let their imagination go into different directions without what the scripture reveals.( some were at odds with each other, “confusing) Jerome writes Mary is ever virgin so Joseph would also be ever virgin. ( anti biblical) Not one church Father ever wrote they had a revelation of Jesus Christ, similar to what the “inspired writers”wrote in the scriptures” through the Holy Ghost” “The revelation of Jesus Christ.” Conclusion: Some church Fathers wrote great stuff ,others wrote heresy. (You went from Gods miraculous inspired words alone through the scriptures to man’s traditions) Colossians 2:8
@@johnp.6043 they defend their tradition on the church fathers, repeat the same narrative and many will believe its true, very devious psychological practices in many cults, the Roman papacy is the mother of all cults, the jesuits the most devious of them all.

@@markrowe9864 buddy man Sacred Tradition is the process God used to gift us the Sacred Scriptures. These same people who declared infallibly what is and isn’t the Bible were the ones who put forward (some much earlier) the Catholic faith you attack.
@markrowe9864, your crass ignorance is overwhelming!!!! The bible is only a written portion of Sacred Tradition!!!! The experience of the early church that the catholic church keeps under custody, pure, unaltered and protected!!!
Mike Gendron should start by reading a decent book on world history. The Church did not "hide scripture" from anyone. Books were *_expensive_* because they took a lot of physical resources and a lot of processing before you could even start the labor of *copying the Bible* *_by hand._* The whole process would be measurable in "man years." It was not _the Reformers_ who made the Bible available to the common (but still wealthy) man, *_it was Gutenberg_* _and whoever made his_ *_paper._*
Then why did they threaten people with burning at the stake for possession of a Bible? Admittedly, what you say about the rarity and expense of a Bible back then is true, but everything I've read about those times in the church shows that the clergy and particularly the higher clergy of the bishops and popes forbade possession of the scriptures, and even after Gutenberg came on the scene, they tried to keep the scriptures out of the hands of anyone outside the clergy. And you know that is not protestant propaganda -- it's true. So it wasn't just that Bibles were hard to come by, or expensive, but rather that the church didn't want the layperson to read it, and from what I can discover, they still don't encourage it. What is the Pope trying to hide?
Yeah, Protestants keep circulating this weird conspiracy theory that the Catholic Church suppressed access to the Bible over the centuries. They completely deny the fact that Sacred Scripture was painstakingly hand-copied by monks at great expense-therefore making it available only to the clergy and the wealthy-and that most of the world was illiterate, anyway.
Then why is it that most Catholics don't even own a Bible? They are encouraged to go to Mass, but not to read the word of God for themselves. My Catholic friend asked me once, before she left the Catholic church, "Is it true that I don't have to go to the priest for confession?" I told her, "Yes, that is true." Jesus Christ is our High Priest, and there is no other mediator between us and God the Father, only Jesus. He Himself said, "I Am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." Why is it that the RCC encourages it's people to run to dead saints for help, when we have our Faithful Lord Jesus sitting at the right hand of the Father making intercession for us? Why do they teach that a fallible priest or pope can grant absolution? They cannot. Why is it that when Pope John Paul II died, the vatican had 8 cardinals flown to Rome to offer Mass to pray "the holy father" out of purgatory? That is not the salvation of the Jesus Christ of the Bible! You all need to read your Bible! I pray that you stop stoning this man in the name of the dead religion of popery and listen to what he is saying from God's own Word. The RCC has had a history of killing people who speak truth.
@@DD-sz8nwWhy is it that Christians always ask their friends to pray for them? We have our Lord Jesus Christ. Ya run to the priest to show ye care about being forgiven, like if ya went to a friend's house to be ask for forgiveness for something instead of doing it over email. Really respectfull. Also the priest usually assigns a pokuta, (dont know the english name), like praying every day for a week, again to show that ye care. At least thats my interpretation, and I aint knowin shit on theology.
that's their clickbait, coz there is nothing there that they could justify their denomination unless they are radicalized into being "nones"; what is sad is that those who became Catholics only have kind words from their former denominations, the same could not be said the other way around. most if not all protestants were never charitable towards Catholics, and Catholics just show apathy. sad
I left the holy Church out of ignorance such as he is in, but came running home out of the Protest as all of the objections have good answers. I kept searching even in the Protest but at his age, stance & arrogance on basic Church doctrine, I just don't know plus he went as far as Calvinism😦
I'm always amused at how it turns out that every ex Catholic is a master scholar of the new testament who simultaneously had never read the Bible when he went to Mass 😂
My cousin told me very confidently that Constantine started the Catholic Church in the 4th century. I said have you ever read St Ignatius of Antioch, he said wherever Christ is so is the Catholic Church. She ran out screaming at me. Ignatius said this in 107 AD. Protestantism is built on fear and why they don’t read the Church Fathers.
Protestants protested against the RCC because luther found the truth n realised that truth was falsified by RCC God used luther to protest as he was a monk of RCC but RCC killed him as well as other Christians too who believed in Christ n reject RCC were killed by rome at first Rome killed Christ n the apostles n then who opposed them
@@aggienodari453 that’s a very good point or argument to make. The problem is most Protestants will just say no there were not 3 Popes. For example they will say Peter himself never said he’s catholic. This is why many Catholic apologists say Saint Ignatius of Antioch scares anti Catholics the most is because he actually said the Catholic Church was everywhere Christ was.
@@snappyjo4642 Tell them to look up the successions of popes in the Britanica encyclopedia. 😆. A good book is Fathers Know Best - Jimmy Akin. It's a Patristic reference guide.
What’s really interesting is that initially Reformers claimed that St Ignatius’s letters were forgeries rather than argue against them. After a couple hundred years of scholarship, some letters were judged to be forgeries, but nearly all of them were deemed legitimate by both Catholic and Protestant scholars, including the really important ones (Eucharist, Catholic, etc.). The passage of time let the Reformers off the hook! There is one RUclips video on St Ignatius I saw (by Protestants) that said he “coined” the term “Catholic Church.” The video skipped over his mention of the Eucharist. I think it’s reasonable to believe the second successor to St. Peter as Bishop of Antioch and a student of St. John when he wrote his Gospel, and who faced the lions rather than accept a rescue knew the Faith better than some random who picked up a Bible and interpreted it for himself 2,000 years later. St Ignatius, pray for us!
My girlfriend gave me one of his books, "Preparing for Eternity", if im not mistaken, and within the first couple of pages I was disgusted at the amount of times he misrepresented the Catholic Faith! I started writing in the pages where he was, and frankly, I had to stop correcting the errors because at the rate of error, It would have taken me a year just to finish reading the book. Thanks, Joe, for tackling this much better than I ever could! May God bless you in all that you do!
So true! I felt the same trying to watch his (this person Mike) video. It is so riddled with countless factual lies on each page of his slides I can't wrap my head around it!
There is no way I could listen to this Mike dude without this reaction. I would just get boiling mad. Stoping the video to point out why this man is wrong is the only thing that calms me back down. I know I know I need to work on being slow to anger. It just hurts so much when people do this to God and to people and making them lose faith and turn from God. 😢.
@@ladybird169that is exactly what I’m going through right now. It took me 6 hours to watch that video. I should’ve started out writing notes, but 20 minutes in I had realized it too late. I can only believe that Mike Gendron is making considerable money off of his anti-catholic remarks (both books and speaking engagements) because he's been corrected by many Catholic apologist (which isn't hard to do), but he keeps stating the same thing over and over again. It's very disturbing... Pray for that man!
I’ve definitely seen this in a lot of people like him. Even if you correct them with proper historical evidences they still promulgate the same lies. It’s really sad. Kudos to Mike Gendron that he viewed this podcast. It's clear that Gendron is presenting falsehoods that Heschmeyer easily refutes. God knows the hearts of men. Gendron, you are elderly and will meet your Maker soon. As an ex Catholic, you have received the Sacraments so your rejection of the Church is more egregious. Get your spiritual house in order before it's too late. You seem to have malicious self-interest in your discourses. Repent, pray, study and stop leading others astray. The most merciful God holds teachers to a higher standard.
Would this be considered a sin against the Holy Ghost? Not sure there is much mercy for him to find. May the Lord Jesus give to Mike whatever the Blessed Virgin Mary is asking for him.
Just saw another interview by a couple of young Protestant Apologists with Mike G. For years I've heard him use the same canned talk, not changing a word, hardly ever taking a breath, because it's so rehearsed. But this one was different. He told a story about how he went to San Giovanni Rotunda, where his uncle, (the one he claims was a priest) Con-celebrated the Mass with Padre Pio, and Mike served it. Very interesting, as Padre Pio who died in 1968 before the New Rite was promulgated. Padre Pio was granted a dispensation, as were many older priests not to have to use the Interim (1964) reforms and used the Old Rite and rubrics until his death. Con-celebration was not officially resumed by those priests celebrating the Roman Rite until 1969, a year after Padre Pio died, it had fallen into disuse in the 12th Century. The old rubrics only allowed Con-celebration on one occasion, that was at the ordination of a priest, where the priest(s) ordained at their ordination Mass, knelt at the foot of the altar and con-celebrated with the Bishop who had just ordained him/them. (it also occurred when a bishop was consecrated, but this would not apply to Padre Pio) So I wonder how Mike and his uncle could have time jumped and done something that was not commonly permitted until after 1970
I use to have a CATHOLIC table at Venice beach Ca years ago. Every time someone would come up to my table and say “I use to be Catholic and now I’m saved.” I would ask them a few basic Catholic questions. Not one could answer one question.
"now I’m saved.” " You were saved scripturally when you were baptized. "I use to be Catholic" When you were Catholic, you received the Resurrected Christ in the Eucharist, a means for receiving his Grace. Catholic's TRUST Jesus: THIS IS MY BODY. As a non Catholic, whenever you have the Lord's Supper, you receive bread and grape juice (most commonly). That's it. Nothing more. I'd rather receive Christ as he instructed, as ALL Christians did for some 1500 years. Heretics aside.
Love you Joe. Left the Catholic Church right after my Confirmation, didn’t join any others and have pondered for years on what the truth is. Thank you so much for your works. 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
I strongly dislike Mike. He comes off as strongly disingenuous or just REALLY incompetent. I remember when he claimed to quote the catechism but was really just quoting a quotation the catechism made to make an argument.
Perhaps the most charitable thing we can say is that Mr Gendron seems to be clinically delusional and really has no idea of the state he is in. Pray for his soul, God bless, A
Notice how comments are disabled on most his videos. Usually says something about the person, like, I don't want any actual catholics to call me out on my lies.
I came across his sermon recently. I am an evangelical looking into Catholicism and I wanted to watch something anti Catholic for fairness purposes, to look at both sides. He didn't really seem to back up any of his points with evidence and when he accused the pope of trying to ally with Muslims and bring them under papal authority, a quick google helped reassure me this was not the case and far from the truth. It was at best a geuine mistake, and at worst a deceptive lie meant to discredit the pope and Catholic church. Pretty disturbing.
The pope kissed the feet of arabs in the gulf so that they'll join the RCC bandwagon n it's trying its best for universalist agenda n leading the way for Armageddon u see these nations are gathering against the Lord n will culminate in this war against Israel (the lord's people) please read the Bible to know history
Lumen gentium says that Catholics and Muslims worship the same God. This is not Biblical. The Catholic church is also promoting a one world religion. The Vatican supports " The Abrahamic Family House in Abu Dhabi ". Pope Francis signed the " Document on Human Fraternity".
Perhaps Mike Gendron has lost his mind. He’s way off in his arguments against the Catholic Church. On his own videos, he turned off comments. Why? Because the millions of Catholics will bombard him with replies disagreeing with what he says. The gospel is inspired by the Holy Spirit, not by Gendron.
Mike is not alone as a protestant. There are some, but not all, like Mike who put their hands over their ears in not wanting to know what the earliest Christians believed (Fathers included). They simply go "Na na na na, na na na na, hey hey, " ... and remain vincibly ignorant.
Well put, I came upon this after being saddened by listening to Mike Gendron in an interview. The fellow slandered his own family and presented the sort of arguments a rebellious teenage would to their parents after a fit a rage.
I don’t think he was ever Catholic, maybe he was raised Catholic but never learn the faith, and then he studied Catholicism from a Protestant perspective, I don’t see other way to explain how he talk about Catholic Church.
In a different video, he admitted his family was not practicing the Catholic faith. He said they had a family Bible on the coffee table, but nobody took the time to read it. As far as I can tell, he was completely unprepared the first time he encountered Protestantism. He had no basis for refuting error, so he accepted what he was told hook, line, and sinker. Now, he is entrenched in his thinking and cannot reverse course because his "reputation" within the Protestant world would be ruined.
Luther was a catholic priest. I'm sure he learn everything that the catholic teaches him . The questions why did he started the protest. He is a priest and is in depth and well verse with Catholics . Isn't he???
Luther was an Augustinian Monk. He was overly scrupulous and was anxious about his salvation. He reinterpreted certain Bible passages to ease his anxiety. In effect, he separated sanctification from salvation, which had never been the Christian understanding. He said people were not actually righteous. They were just declared righteous. He also observed certain abuses occurring within the church. All of this culminated in the 95 Theses that he posted on the door of the Wittenberg Cathedral. Many of the things he called out were legitimate, but he got overly extreme in his views and got sideways with the pope and bishops. I doubt that he originally intended to break away from the church, but he had gone too far with his rejection of authority and various doctrinal novelties.
@@rishanborrymbai1104 You should know that Martin Luther successfully threw out 7 books from the Bible and even wanted to remove Hebrews, Jude, James and the Book of Revelation - all because they underpinned Catholic teaching. Was this the act of a good priest? does any man have the right to remove sacred scripture? (which is why a Protestant Bible has 66 Books but a Catholic Bible has all 73 Books).
Please someone explain to me why all this smear campaign against Catolic Christians? Why are they so obsessed with Catolicism? Why is it so important to them, why they are so full of rage? What is their problem? Live and let live.
Thank you for putting this out. I pray for Mike that he may come to realise and repent of the false witness he’s been bearing for all these years. Whilst I myself am not a Catholic I do find it incredibly disingenuous a lot of what he’s been saying, and on watching many of his videos I’ve learnt ALWAYS check what people are saying because unfortunately most of what he quotes is misused and twisted to support his argument and majority of the time is just factually incorrect and it’s scary because most people lap it up without thinking to double check his sources.

Thank you Joseph, very well done. Rather than a debate, Mike Gendron may use this opportunity to write a definitive history. I'm eager to learn the missing 1500 years.
His way of not thinking and his energy attract cult followers. I was attacked by one of them in a crowd of evangelicals. The attacker's energy was savage and she was joined by others. This was my intro to Gundrun. It was terrifying. Irrational.
That has been my experience with most evangelicals, sadly. The anger and savage attacks they hurl is quite astonishing. Especially if it is from your own family.
Thank you Mr. Heschmeyer. I just want you to know how much I appreciate your incredibly professional and obviously accurate clarification. I happened to watch Mike Gendron’s video the other day by chance and it made me question a great deal of my Catholic beliefs. Then I happened to come across your video, again by chance. I’m not one to throw around God’s name very often, but I think He exposed me to Mr. Gendron’s and then your video to make me a better Catholic. As you know, for the average Catholic who is not a scholar, refuting Mr. Gendron is an impossible task. I knew he had to be wrong on much of his content but those Bible quoter’s are hard to refute. I can not thank you enough. Please know that God is working through you. You had a profoundly positive impact on my life. I am one of those people who doesn’t want to be told what I want to hear, I want to be told what I need to know. Then I will validate with my God given reason and logic, incorporate it into my belief system and transfer it to my daily actions hoping to become more in accordance with God’s word. Do your best, demonstrate your love for God in the way you live and trust He will judge you fairly. Mr. Gendron seems to think we only need to love Jesus and we are saved. That makes absolutely no sense and now I understand his misleading words in the context of his agenda. Thank you again. Please keep an eye on John MacArthur. He appears to be another quoter.
Thank you for this video! "When they declare that baptism regenerates the soul." So does he also consider Lutherans, Anglicans and a host of other Protestant communities to be apostate as well?
Sorry, I am super late to this but Allie Beth Stuckey just did an interview with him on her YT channel. I get he is Ex catholic but why is he SO against the Church that he is out here attacking it everyday? I didn't know who he was until her show with him.
“In accordance with the scriptures” mean that it follows what the Old Testament said would happen when the messiah appeared. And I feel like Protestants take it was the New Testament writings. Which didn’t exist yet
Willfully ignoring the church fathers is one of the most pitiful things you can do, just so you can try to stand on your own interpretation. I'll pray for that guy, because his arrogance is going to follow him to his judgement.
"Willfully ignoring the church fathers is one of the most pitiful things you can do," Yep, protestants either thrown them out or selectively quote them mostly out of context (ie, St Augustine often). The 21st century Church of Self becomes the authority, not scripture, and not the faith passed down by the apostles, even with the ECF's hold a common belief that many protestants do not hold 2000 years later. Baptism is a great example. 21st century protestantism - it is a symbolic only act of faith ECF's - it is sanctifying, regenerative, how one is BORN AGAIN scripturally, and salvific (1 Pet 3 21) St Justin Martyr below For Christ also said, ‘Except ye be born again, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.’ Now, that it is impossible for those who have once been born to enter into their mothers’ wombs, is manifest to all. And how those who have sinned and repent shall escape their sins, is declared by Esaias the prophet, as I wrote above; he thus speaks: ‘Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from your souls; learn to do well…And though your sins be as scarlet, I will make them white like wool; and though they be as crimson, I will make them white as snow…And for this [rite] we have learned from the apostles this reason. Since at our birth we were born without our own knowledge or choice, by our parents coming together, and were brought up in bad habits and wicked training; in order that we may not remain the children of necessity and of ignorance, but may become the children of choice and knowledge, and may obtain in the water the remission of sins formerly committed, there is pronounced over him who chooses to be born again, and has repented of his sins, the name of God the Father and Lord of the universe; he who leads to the layer the person that is to be washed calling him by this name alone…And this washing is called illumination, because they who learn these things are illuminated in their understandings. And in the name of Jesus Christ, who was crucified under Pontius Pilate, and in the name of the Holy Ghost, who through the prophets foretold all things about Jesus, he who is illuminated is washed.” First Apology, 61 (A.D. 110-165). Origen “The Church received from the Apostles the tradition of giving Baptism even to infants. For the Apostles, to whom were committed the secrets of divine mysteries, knew that there is in everyone the innate stains of sins, which must be washed away through water and the Spirit.” Origen, Commentary on Romans, 5:9 (A.D. 244). St Augustine “Now, seeing that they [Pelagians] admit the necessity of baptizing infants,-finding themselves unable to contravene that authority of the universal Church, which has been unquestionably handed down by the Lord and His apostles,-they cannot avoid the further concession, that infants require the same benefits of the Mediator, in order that, being washed by the sacrament and charity of the faithful, and thereby incorporated into the body of Christ, which is the Church, they may be reconciled to God, and so live in Him, and be saved, and delivered, and redeemed, and enlightened. But from what, if not from death, and the vices, and guilt, and thraldom, and darkness of sin? And, inasmuch as they do not commit any sin in the tender age of infancy by their actual transgression, original sin only is left.” Augustine, On forgiveness of sin and baptism, 39[26] (A.D. 412).
I find it fascinating the Gendron states he refuses to read the Early Church Fathers because he can't "know that their not those who Paul warns about" but feels it's perfectly acceptable to teach about the history of the Church and even revise Scripture. The guy is a charlatan, I'm convinced.
Thanks for sharing your perspective. I'm afraid NO response will EVER be good enough for the likes of Mike and his fellow accusers. What they see is an institution and not the hearts of its people. No matter if most of us Catholics are guided by The Holy Spirit and by scripture. Frankly, we need to start focussing on what matters to our eternal salvation and pray for people like Mike to overcome his personal issues within himself.
After reading the Church fathers I had to decide to follow the truth wherever it leads or find reasons to remain „protesting“. I turned Catholic and so has my whole family (ex-Pentecostals). I thank however my Protestants friends for giving me Jesus and some milk 🥛 to start the journey ✋
Mike said the first time he opened the Bible was at 35 years old. He hardly cared to learn as a Catholic. He is just trying to emphasize the ignorance he imagines is widespread in Catholicism.
If he did not read the Bible does not mean others have not read it like him. He could have peeped into his uncle's Bible from time to time. Children are usually curious to know more. May be he had no curiosity at all. May be he was deaf such that he did not hear miraculous stories were read during the Mass. There are many interesting historical stories in the Bible even if he didn't want to read Paul's letters. In this age of Internet, lies cannot be hidden for long. And so, once his lies are made evident to his audience, they will come to the Catholic Church. Mike will be left alone when he dies if he doesn't repent. His lies are gifts Catholic apologists should make use of it like in this video.
Well, I can believe that, considering it was around, or just after the time of Vatican 2. Having lived through that, I am grateful to God for hearing my mother's prayers, to bring me home. I think He's moving a LOT during these times! So many folks coming into or back to The Church!

We should have a Catholic Christian podcaster here too that answers and explains all of these negative claim about the Catholic Church so we the laity can be educated from you. A lot of these non-Catholic bloggers are all over Facebook doing their own thing and sometimes if not most of the time they have tendency to bash the church or slip off regarding our teaching that is so untrue.

The absolute worse part of the Church of Mike is that he errors, and errors repeatedly, stating what the Catholic Church actually teaches. In Mike's eternal security world, it doesn't matter whether he lies or stays vincibly ingnorant or not.
When i first returned to the Catholic Church i wanted every apologist to say something about gendron. Then, realizing just how antiquated his material is, i thought it was useless as his ministry will die out anyways. Honestly, despite how easy it is, I'm glad people are doing something about him. It forces protestants to be a little more serious and it's a good laugh for the rest of us 😂
Transubstantiation changes during The Mass when the Priest offers to God the Bread & Wine, Christ changes the Bread & wine into His Body & Blood..... Christ does that through the Priesthood, the Priest, this is the ONLY way this can be done, this is how Christ set it up.... that is through the Priesthood, because Jesus Christ is the HIGH PRIEST, He died on the Cross for us so that this MIRACLE may be given freely to Humanity.... " Eat my Flesh and Drink my Blood: Christ gave everything of HIMSELF to us: CHRIST expects the same of us, to give everything of ourselves to Him AND if we do, He will give us all the help we need daily : THIS IS LOVE RECIPROCATED, it's not one-sided!
This was an excellent video. I watched Mike Gendron’s video. If I’m a Protestant or Evangelical, I would not consider Mike to be the best we had to argue our point of view. I’m not a theologian, but I would have no problem debating him. At least someone like James White comes across as being very knowledgeable and well read. He still comes up short when facing a Catholic apologist of equal learning, but at least his arguments “seem” to be good.

@@georgedemers8423 well said, and welcome to the Catholic Church. It is often said that converts are the best Catholics, because they made an adult decision, and had to put some time and thought into it, and some study. Most Catholics today suffer from a lack of catechesis.
The Protestants must say that the Catholic Church is wrong or else why are they Protestants? Yet they must also admit that not one of their denominations has any right to declare itself to be the one True Church. And that, for the simple reason that Christ did not establish any institution which could be known by men to be His Church.
Mike Gendron needs to come to Jesus, apologize to Him, and then apologize to His mother for slandering their family on earth with lazy misinformation and the arrogant assumption that Gendron’s claims are beyond any correction.
48:00 John 3 does not necessarily contradict Act 10 , when the Spirit was poured onto the gentiles while Peter was at Cornelius'. Then Peter asked the gentiles to be baptized after they got the Spirit. Just as the Paul was baptized a few days after the Damascus road revelation.
I got engaged in a comment battle on this video pointing out just a few of the blatant falsehoods in this video. During my back and forths, comments on the video were suspended, unfortunately.
I had my post disappear. Then was banned from making any more comments. And I was being very respectful in all I had said. There was no reason for that since all I was doing was defending the Catholic faith.
I ran across a 10 year old article of Joes online yesterday, it was about Luthers book "On Jews and Their Lies " in which Luther proudly and arrogantly condemned all Jews in shocking proclamations of burning down of homes, schools and synagogues. I hope that Joe does a fresh video on the same subject.
There are 131 anathemas from the Council of Trent.
And thats all you could answer against? 😂😂😂 Well, that says enough.

Praying for you Kendra. Go to Joseph he’s the patron saint of the family. God bless you.
Keep your heart and faith in Jesus and his church. Matthew 16:18
I'm so sorry, Kendra. Praying for you right now!

I’ve listened to Mike Gendron extensively and I’ve come to one of two conclusions: Either Mike (1) slept through Mass or (2) he was never Catholic in the first place.
It'd been a good nap.
It's all of the above..
I believe he's number 2
His shameless twisting of church history needs to be called out. Thanks for this episode!

@@markmeyer4532 Joe Heschmeyer and I aren't saying what Muslims and OSAS Protestants say when they claim "if they understood, they'd be one of us" or "they left because they were never saved to begin with."
We're saying, very literally, Mike Gendron doesn't know what the Catholic Church even teaches, which takes the wind out of his claims that he knows enough about Catholicism to decide against it.
On your points:
Before Mike ever meets a Catholic, he disagrees on doctrine repeatedly with other protestants.
I was a Baptist for over 50 years. I read the Church Fathers on topics such as the Trinity, Church, Papacy, Eucharist, Canon, Mary, Communion of Saints or Relics and... I became a Catholic! There I stood, I could do no other.
Judge not , he without sin cast the first stone.
Most Church Fathers were not so early.
Polycarp was the closest to John the divinel and he wrote, I am a student of scripture. ( no mention of added revelation)
Example:Jerome wrote late in the three hundred A.D. Some of these early writers would let their imagination go into different directions without what the scripture reveals.( some were at odds with each other, “confusing)
Jerome writes Mary is ever virgin so Joseph would also be ever virgin. ( anti biblical)
Not one church Father ever wrote they had a revelation of Jesus Christ, similar to what the “inspired writers”wrote in the scriptures” through the Holy Ghost” “The revelation of Jesus Christ.”
Conclusion: Some church Fathers wrote great stuff ,others wrote heresy. (You went from Gods miraculous inspired words alone through the scriptures to man’s traditions) Colossians 2:8

It was not _the Reformers_ who made the Bible available to the common (but still wealthy) man, *_it was Gutenberg_* _and whoever made his_ *_paper._*
There’s no printing press yet during the time of Jesus. 1440 is when it was invented.
No one comes to the Father except through Me."
Why is it that the RCC encourages it's people to run to dead saints for help, when we have our Faithful Lord Jesus sitting at the right hand of the Father making intercession for us?
Nothing makes me disregard an anti-Catholic more than identifying themselves as an ex-Catholic. Plain falsehoods are sure to follow.
that's their clickbait, coz there is nothing there that they could justify their denomination unless they are radicalized into being "nones"; what is sad is that those who became Catholics only have kind words from their former denominations, the same could not be said the other way around. most if not all protestants were never charitable towards Catholics, and Catholics just show apathy.
@@Qwerty-jy9mj & the Catholic Church did not permit them to read it & never taught it, its laughable & just a lie, I once said it to my shame
Jon-Paul Leigh me too. I was a Protestant for 38 years. I came back to The Holy Apostolic Catholic Church in October of 2022.
THANK YOU! Finally someone big had the patience to do a Mike Gendron response. Thank you!
The blind leading the blind will both fall in the ditch.
Protestants protested against the RCC because luther found the truth n realised that truth was falsified by RCC God used luther to protest as he was a monk of RCC but RCC killed him as well as other Christians too who believed in Christ n reject RCC were killed by rome at first Rome killed Christ n the apostles n then who opposed them
Anytime someone makes an assertion about Constantine, just let them know there were 33 Pope's prior at the time of the Edict of Milan.
@@snappyjo4642
Tell them to look up the successions of popes in the Britanica encyclopedia.
I stumbled across Mike before I started my investigation into Catholicism. I found him very unsettling and dishonest, I couldn’t get through one video
If you can't see the plane truth that he reveals then The Father has not drawn you to it and you remain blind.
Would this be considered a sin against the Holy Ghost? Not sure there is much mercy for him to find.

Try reading the history of "The Gutenberg Martyrs" if you think that OK then you are in the right place. Calling Gendron a lier is to easy.

You were saved scripturally when you were baptized.

When you were Catholic, you received the Resurrected Christ in the Eucharist, a means for receiving his Grace. Catholic's TRUST Jesus: THIS IS MY BODY.
So your thinking about converting to a Church with a homosexual dominated clergy. How is that Biblical?
I have also seen Catholics turning off comments in their YT channels.
Why even assume 😅
You could probably ask him or find something else out.
God bless you, Joe and your family! Thank you, brother.

Yep, protestants either thrown them out or selectively quote them mostly out of context (ie, St Augustine often). The 21st century Church of Self becomes the authority, not scripture, and not the faith passed down by the apostles, even with the ECF's hold a common belief that many protestants do not hold 2000 years later. Baptism is a great example.
21st century protestantism - it is a symbolic only act of faith
ECF's - it is sanctifying, regenerative, how one is BORN AGAIN scripturally, and salvific (1 Pet 3 21)
St Justin Martyr below
For Christ also said, ‘Except ye be born again, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.’ Now, that it is impossible for those who have once been born to enter into their mothers’ wombs, is manifest to all. 110-165).
Origen
“The Church received from the Apostles the tradition of giving Baptism even to infants. For the Apostles, to whom were committed the secrets of divine mysteries, knew that there is in everyone the innate stains of sins, which must be washed away through water and the Spirit.” Origen, Commentary on Romans, 5:9 (A.D. 244).
St Augustine
“Now, seeing that they [Pelagians] admit the necessity of baptizing infants,-finding themselves unable to contravene that authority of the universal Church, which has been unquestionably handed down by the Lord and His apostles,-they cannot avoid the further concession, that infants require the same benefits of the Mediator, in order that, being washed by the sacrament and charity of the faithful, and thereby incorporated into the body of Christ, which is the Church, they may be reconciled to God, and so live in Him, and be saved, and delivered, and redeemed, and enlightened. 412).

Reading the Church Fathers convinced me that Catholicism was wrong. The overwhelmingly majority of them did not believe Peter was pope.

If a priest can forgive sin, then Jesus died in vain.
Without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness of sins” (Hebrews 9:22)

Thanks @Joe Hechmeyer @shameless Popery thank you so much for what you're doing for the Kingdom of GOD thank you for teaching us how to defend our faith and how to learn our faith. Thanks for sharing your studies with us. Your brother Robert from Puerto Rico 🇵🇷
13:10 that's why protestantism will continue to split until come to nothing and disapear from history just like every other heresies.
Especially when they "ordain" women!
I sometimes wonder if God is shaking his head over all if this bickering amongst His children. Him being God, surely He knew this is what would happen. Surely, He didn't want so many of us to be seeking yet running into confusion and division.
Think you have an amazing gift to be able to listen to this guy. It was so hard hearing him talk about this stuff
Mike Gendron's church history timeline is probably one of the silliest one i have ever seen , its so simplistic and just plain wrong with random dates
Its enough to convince Baptist Bob in South Carolina that them Catholics are evil Maryworshippers
There are 1.4 billion catholics on the Earth United. There are 1.4 billion protestants divided. There is 42000 different denominations now.
True fans know this is a reupload 😎 lol

@@shamelesspoperyyes I noticed when I tried replaying 😂
@@shamelesspoperythank you for responding to what lies that man is spreading. Thanks for teaching us and sharing your studies with us.
Lol😂
Newly married. My wife and family are some of those Protestant who believed a lot of what are half truths or falsehood about catholicism. While I'm not Catholic, as a minister of the gospel I do have an obligation to stand with the truth. They have soften their tone since
The absolute worse part of the Church of Mike is that he errors, and errors repeatedly, stating what the Catholic Church actually teaches. In Mike's eternal security world, it doesn't matter whether he lies or stays vincibly ingnorant or not.
Thank you. It shall not be forgotten.
You know, I was confident Mike Gendron could be refuted, but then he posted “TWISTED” in all caps, and now I’m not so sure.
As a former Protestant becoming Catholic, Protestants love that verse is 1 John 2 and quote at everyone or every denomination they disagree with.
The man who would expose Catholicism succeeded only in demonstrating what a liar he himself is.
When i first returned to the Catholic Church i wanted every apologist to say something about gendron. Then, realizing just how antiquated his material is, i thought it was useless as his ministry will die out anyways.
Honestly, despite how easy it is, I'm glad people are doing something about him. It forces protestants to be a little more serious and it's a good laugh for the rest of us 😂
I love this podcast so much. Long-form suits you, Joe.
" Eat my Flesh and Drink my Blood:
Christ gave everything of HIMSELF to us: CHRIST expects the same of us, to give everything of ourselves to Him
AND
if we do, He will give us all the help we need daily : THIS IS LOVE RECIPROCATED, it's not one-sided!
Thank you for this!!
Thus great video brother
Though I'm not a Catholic, we should not add nonesense to there teaching, Christians should should speak the truth only.
Same tired Prot arguments. Ignorant, narrow, and neglecting the reality of Holy Tradition being solidly based on Scripture.
@@violetsplace524 that is true

Wow lm born catholic and am aproud Catholic, and even hearing from this wonderful man like Joe, lam more proud of being in this Church.
Love the show Joe. Super clear work.
i have a friend who is a Methodist Pastor. He says there aare only four people in his congregation who cause trouble, and they are all ex-Catholics. He said he just tells them they never understood their own religion
This is a great story and gives me peace about the goodwill of our separated brethren in other traditions. Wish more were like that Methodist pastor!
@@georgedemers8423 i have noticed big differences--of motivation, knowledge, and thought-- between Protestants who become Catholic, and Catholics who become Protestant.
@@erikriza7165 I don't want to generalize, but there's definitely something to your statement. I recently converted to Catholicism at this past Easter vigil. I wish more people raised Catholic would appreciate and learn about their inheritance rather than throw it away over fearmongering and blatant lies...
@@georgedemers8423 well said, and welcome to the Catholic Church. It is often said that converts are the best Catholics, because they made an adult decision, and had to put some time and thought into it, and some study. Most Catholics today suffer from a lack of catechesis.
@@erikriza7165 thank you. Poor catechesis is what kills me the most. I hope to teach CCD or RCIA someday!
Lol, that's weird.
Thank you for this Joe!
Rest assured of my prayers for you both. God bless you
Thanks for all your hard work and effort in Christ may God bless you and your family ✝️✝️✝️
Thank you very much Mr. Heschmeyer for performing an indepth breakdown of this man's misrepresentations of Holy Mother Church.
Yes. Other people report that their posts disappear. Happened to me on 1 site. Another site has blocked entirely.
I had my post disappear. Then was banned from making any more comments. And I was being very respectful in all I had said. There was no reason for that since all I was doing was defending the Catholic faith.
UNfortunately Mike Gendrons has turned off commenting on his videos .....lol
I ran across a 10 year old article of Joes online yesterday, it was about Luthers book "On Jews and Their Lies " in which Luther proudly and arrogantly condemned all Jews in shocking proclamations of burning down of homes, schools and synagogues. I hope that Joe does a fresh video on the same subject.
