Thank you so much currently working towards my bachelors in psychology and this is extremely helpful! I've been going back and forth in my head on if I should go straight into applying for Clinical PsyD or Ph.D.
Hello, sir. I am from the Philippines. I'm currently doing my master's thesis in clinical psychology. I'm so much interested in pursuing PsyD or PhD in the US. I'd like to ask if you know of any fully funded scholarships? Thank you in advance for your response. 🙂
Hello! great question! PhD programs tend to have more fully funded scholarships, so you might do a simple google search to see which PhD programs are fully funded in the areas that you'd like to go to school. Here is a link to a site that might be helpful www.profellow.com/fellowships/fully-funded-phd-programs-in-clinical-psychology/ Good luck!
Hi, your video is very informative. I have a question, well I am an Indian student recently graduated my Bachelors in psychology and counselling. I want to study abroad for masters or Psy.D. Can u tell the requirements for taking the Psy.D course in foreign universities? (Because in India we need to complete our Masters)
Hi! This is a great question! In the U.S. you do not need a masters to start a PsyD or PhD program. I think other countries like the UK might require a masters though, I'm not fully sure. Hope that helps, good luck!
I’ve been contemplating for the past few weeks, doing plenty of research on what to do! My situation- I live in AK and not able to relocate. Unfortunately there are currently no APA accredited doctoral online programs. As that is such an important factor in choosing a program (I’m looking at PsyD in School and/or Clinical Psych) I will have to wait until I potentially move someday. Any thoughts or recommendations?
Thanks for commenting, this is such a tough situation! Because of the pandemic, I know a number of APA doctoral programs that went virtual, or did a hybrid for their courses during the year. Some are still in a hybrid model, and some are still doing mostly virtual courses. I wonder if it's possible to still be accepted into an APA program and take classes virtually until it's possible for you to relocate and finish in-person? I think many schools are willing to be flexible because of the complexities of the pandemic. My program for example has many international students that still take courses virtually even though the school is fully back in-person. It seems that schools are willing to work with students, and I wonder with your specific situation how they might either allow you to defer for a year or two after acceptance, or allow you to take courses virtually until you can move? Not sure if that's helpful or what could come with that, but those are just my initial thoughts.
Sir I am a student from India I am going to pursue a bachelor's degree in psychology in my country itself but I just wanted to know that we have 3 year bachelor's program, so can I apply for Clinical Psy.D after my bachelor's program and gre or I need master's.
Great question, I would email Clinical Psy.D. programs if I was you and ask the admissions for schools, because they may have their own preferences on if a masters is necessary or not. Typically if you have a bachelors you may apply to schools in the U.S. because they don't require a masters degree. I know that other countries are different and however do require a masters. Hope that helps, good luck!
