- This surf session Mason Ho drives north from Ericeira in Search of another fun wave. We end up eating lunch watching this wave that looks so fun but very crowded and regulated. After a while Mason realizes this is a special surf spot so he has to give it a try. The locals hold it down but show aloha and share some rides. A very cool experience! Thanks to the boys out there!

Mace taking this wedgy beach break apart like it was his home break he surfs so fluidly and powerfully a pleasure to watch
On a great day there in 1978 I was resting on the beach at low tide and suddenly realised there was no one out (even back then it got crowded). Paddled out, turned and took a brilliant flight over the falls only just tucking my head in before being slammed into the sand. Came straight in having learnt an important lesson.
What was the lesson learned?

I remember Italo Ferreira has done one of the sickest floaters I've ever seen before in surfing competition in that same spot. Italo was not even a world title contender, but that precise wave he caught, was an eye opener for me.

There's no competitions in that spot. Now 1 or 2 kilometers to the East of it you have Super Tubos a WCT stop.
@@Eventual-Visitor a few years ago (2015 0r 2016)... the CT move to Molhe Leste because that year during the event the wind was W/S and the swell was to big for Supertubos (closeouts) and WSL moved the contest to Molhe Leste... It's a rare backup for Supertubos if need it and they don't wanna move to north of Peniche.

As you can probably tell from the footage, it's a super shallow break. It's known to be a board-breaker (if not a back-breaker). I've been slammed hard hard a couple of times.
