Wow! The Smoky Mountains! I found the visits to the planets a bit distracting, but the story really gets moving along. I kept cringing at Theo’s decisions. I did love how layered the theme of care is in the novel. The ending, ugh!
Thanks for making this review, I could feel myself enjoying the book but also had mixed feelings. I couldn't help be disappointed as I was comparing it to The Overstory (which I loved so much) and also it was bringing up a lot of climate anxiety, but your thoughts helped me appreciate the more positive layers!
I'm glad this review helped, but yes I completely agree that The Overstory was way better. I'm planning on reading Orfeo by him at some point this year, and I've heard that one is supposed to be really good, so fingers crossed!
Enjoyed this review! You got way more out of this than I did, I am a neuroscientist and found it reaaally hard to turn off my work brain/suspend disbelief with it. Your comments made me appreciate it a little more , so thanks! And I eagerly anticipate where Kieran goes to one up you in the on-location book review play offs 😆

haha yeah, that seems like it would make this less enjoyable! I definitely liked this one, but still far prefer The Overstory
