If you haven't watched Moutet's timely and sincere speech at the end of the match, I recommend you check it out. He was right on the money & managed to win over the crowd in the end. It made me think about all of the vitriol Shelton receives online from haters who neither know nor care about how beloved he is on tour, how much people respect his talent, and the work Bryan has done to raise such a grounded young man. I'm all for having fun with wordplay & shading the players sometimes, but at the end of the day, tennis is a game meant to entertain and unite. Let's have fun & enjoy their work. No need to call for player's heads and disregard their efforts just because they're playing against your faves. Everyone loses on tour. No one can win all the time.

I think Fils definitely could have won this match. He is obviously the more talented player. All Martinez did was just play great defense. I think Fils needs to work on strategy and having a better game plan. Maybe hit more drop shots and bring Martinez into the net more or something. Obviously he needed to hydrate more. Shouldn’t be cramping after 2 sets. Great effort though by both guys.

Is it me, or does the ball bounce look weird on this clay court?

it has been the topic of conversation all week, pretty bad shape the court, and it was worse earlier in the week

Really?.. isn t it just tha the courts are faster due to altitude?, its well know tha Santiago courts are fast, similar height oever the sea as Madrid.

The South American clay courts are notorious for bad bounces. All of them have had issues during the swing: Cordoba, BA, Rio, & Santiago. That's one of the reasons the top players just wait for the better constructed European clay courts. Plus, the equatorial conditions in Central & Latin American are more arduous to play in unless you're from there.
