I have had hand-off bedside experiences here and there, and these are the best! I came to notice that (when facilities did not use these) over all it took more time, you repeat information no less than 3 times to different members of the team, rather than 1 time with Q/A and information hand off and safety. Though it takes 3x more time than hand-off alone, the benefit is you just nailed at least 3 reports, safety concerns, a turn/walk/potty break, patient and staff updates, dietary info, plus an assessment/hx confirmation, care plan and goals, family/support contact (meet n greet) plus education...ALL these in one step! If you can get say 1/2 of your pt load to go this way you cut your time significantly and other care team members. You can get that extra time needed to properly address that more fragile pt in 5E who may need extra care or a more thorough assessment/education (Deaf pt take more time or if there's a different physical /language/capacity bariers) not all bariers can be seen and not all assistance needed is strictly medical. **** bedside report. gold standard
bedside report is nice in an ideal world but people don't do it bc it takes much longer. if patient ratios were lower then people would be more willing to do it bc they could actually go into all their patients' rooms in a reasonable amount of time instead of adding on an extra hour to the day

Really good video. Unfortunately when you have 6-7 patients we dont have time to take so long on a bedside report. Just not the reality.
Just had heart surgery in December never once in 7 days Did this happen.
