This song is where my stumbling around in FFXI all started in, Gustaberg's desert swatting at bees and worms, bitch slapping goblins. A few years later I was part of one of the most exclusive LS(OrionsDoor) on one of the most active and popular servers (Odin) in the whole game with invitations to other groups on other servers, with a reputation on my own server as a RDM who could solo just about any Sky NM you were camping, some of the Sea NMs and even a god or two. I had obtained most every single piece of gear and equipment in high quality versions you could want for nearly 5-6 classes including one relic in stage 3 nearly 4 and a maxed out sets of merits to boot, all while neglecting my high school homework and life obligations. Words cannot describe the fond memories I have of this song but all the music from FFXI together then the people I met and time I spent playing this game for nearly 6 years. Its been over 11 or more years since I quit and I know ill never play again, but im glad im able to remember. If life had to be done all over again, Id play XI just as much as I did in this life time or more. Great work covering this masterpiece.

I have similar memories of this OST, I too started in the Gustaberg region, I was in high school at the time , than went to collage and continued to play while eventually neglecting life responsibilities to become involved in the end game scene. Some of the greatest memories I had were thanks to ff11. I still go back from time to time to support the game and go down memory lane. If I had a time machine I would go back to day 1 and not change a thing!

Hearing this tune again brought tears to my eyes. FF11 was my life from 2002 until I finally quit playing in 2009. I've tried to go back a few times, but it just isn't the same as it was then. Still, I'll never forget the time I spent in Vana'diel. Despite being a Mithra, I started as a Bastoker and never changed allegiance (aside from brief swaps to do the national Missions of the other nations.) Sometimes I would go stand in Gustaberg just to heal and rez new players. Have to support the growth of my nation, after all!

Gustaberg BGM is filled with likeness of Koto こそう, Sanmisen, and Japanese Flute. Bastok is also home to Ninja, Samurai and Monk AF quests. Little easter egg I've only caught onto after 20 years.
This where my first adventure began a whole other lifetime ago... Running from Goblins, Quadavs and getting surprised by Leaping Lizzy...

This was effin pro. Also, the drum part where you hit and then smoosh down the stick to kill that transient and create that hollow effect; just blew me away.

I think the pitched drum is supposed to be an Udu,
A pot drum, but it kinda sounds like a timpani in this.
And the cup is suppose to be a type of chime.
This kinda sounds like Chrono Trigger/Chrono Cross now.
Also, the guitar is my favorite part of the song.
I miss FF11, was so fun.
And the floor Tom trick is cool, I do that with my elbow alot when playing drums.

I been listening to Mizuta for years and he is my favorite composer. This is incredible to watch and gives me a better understanding of the instruments used. Should do Rolanberry Fields someday.
Actually this is a Kumi Tanioka track. She composes for the Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles games. I knew instantly it was her when I heard it cuz her music was my first exposure to ff as a kid. She has a specific tenderness with how she composes her harmonies and percussive parts (like her love for pitched instruments) that's undeniably her.
