As a young student during my college days i had admired the guts of CEC Seshan who single handedly would stand up to his responsibilities as CEC. I have yet to come across a person like him whom no one dared to question or go against since he worked as per the constitution.

All those officers who have failed to act according to the spirit of constitution must be prosecuted and jailed,if law required, to set the clock in the rule of law direction.
EC became defunct in the wake of Bjp rejime.
EC must apply its mind & act proactively & not merely to wait to react on the basis of a complaint.It must act upfront.

No discussion speaks about intimidation of top officials by Modi and Shah. They have forgotten Gujarat, Haren Pandya, judge Loya etc. etc.? Lavasa himself was intimidated and resigned from his job. The ED and CBI are acting as a private agency or the Gestapo of the government. When a beaurucrat and his family are brought under pressure he will succumb. This is hitting at the core of our democracy. Even the SBI chairman was prepared to face contempt of court and face prosecution. Why? Because he may have been worried about his job and personal safety.
Suggest,Hon'ble SC of India need to watch this discussion in all seriousness before hearing out patition on EVM's going by very very valuable suggestions by the two past EC's, ADR chair person and Mr Sibal

Though I personally feel that EC in India is very neutral but coming to the ground realities the EC on the whole is some thing is very different and where the EC shows some sort of favour to the ruling dispensation of the day .

The answer to every question that Kapil sir asked was that it depends on if the CEC has a spine or not to use the powers given to them in the constitution to conduct a free and fair election ....and in my opinion the current CEC does not have a spine

Manipulation of electoral roles is serious areas that need attention....
In Manipur, recruitment processes for various government departments are going on without any disturbance from the ECI. Almost all state government departments issued recruitment notification of various posts and process is going on till this date i.e. 17/04/2024. That of election is on 19/04/2024.
Conclusion of this debate is EC does a shoddy job, but it's been shoddy forever! So suddenly there's a debate about newfound shoddiness! Selective dementia

During his tenure as the Chief Election Commissioner N Gopalaswami on 31 January 2009 sent his recommendation for removal of Election Commissioner Navin Chawla to the President of India.[3] He alleged that Chawla had discharged his duties as Election Commissioner in a partisan manner, seeking to further the interests of "one party." The CEC report contended that Chawla would take breaks during crucial meetings and secretly talk to functionaries of the Congress party and leak confidential details of the Election Commission.[4] Chawla is also reported to have opposed the Election Commission's notice to Sonia Gandhi for her accepting foreign honours from Belgium.[
SC should not allow elections unless and until election practices are fair and unbiased

2. Give notice to the govt that the basic principles and requirements are not met as per democracy and hence if elections are conducted then it will be null and void.
For this the prominent lawyers and professionals form a valid committee to safeguard democracy and give legal notices. If this is manipulated we need to slecify that we will not hesitate to seek international court of justice like Africa did on isreal hamas war.

Names are allowed to add on site at the polling booth with two pieces of IDs, one of which a picture ID, in Canada!
That point about systems being in place - what appeal does a citizen have post facto? How many complaints will the EC take if the voting and counting and declaration has taken place and people’s complaint is only reviewed after? I don’t have a lot of hope from the incumbent EC.

Truly T S Seshan was the only CEC person who had stood as a strong pillar for fair conduct of elections. Why are the bureaucrats of various departments/ministries intimidated by the politicians.

Present EC has to take conscious truthful and fair decision
Election commission should not shouldered its responsibilities to political parties to confirm the names in electrol rolls. Instead they should establish a full proof system to addition/deletion of the name, in addition to fixation of responsibility.

If ballot boxes destroyed then same can be applicable to EVM also with same logic. Use ballot paper with party symbol along with barcode to help count similar to currency notes. Only manual count need to be done if there is any doubt.
A spacial for ce should be formed to conduct fare election and help people to give their verdict which is essential for preservation of democracy in our কান্ট্রি.

Why can't there be no rallies or press conferences by any political parties ( including government programs) on all the poll days till 6 pm , irrespective of the phases , including a media blockade ????. What harm does it cause to any political party ???. If Sikkim & Arunachal would go under the president's rule then it is quite clear that the elections are held for Mr. Modi and not for the people of this country .

What Congress did to give ECI more power and autonomy? In fact, Congress neglected ECI by not giving teceth sufficient to enjoy autonomy comparable to Judiciary. In fact, CEC should be manned by Retired Judges of Supreme Court at Apex level and Judges of High Court of High Court at State level. No bureacrate should hold the office of Election Commission at Apex or State level. Howrver, Secretary of the Commission should be IAS officers.
Judges are no straight people! Congressis cry hoarse irrespective of anyone! Even if the EC was selected by President theyd say rubber stamp, by CJI they'd say CJI is bought, hy LOP theyd say not represented by RS.. point it their homework is shoddy and finding shortcuts to win
