Hey J! You're the best! You've done design, food and fashion; but I can't help but notice your perfect skin and hair. FLAWLESS...could you make a video about your grooming and skincare regimen?
El Matador for sure 😊 ... offers a better flow from kitchen to dining room and compliments well. Feel the lighter paints appear dated & "dull" against the bold & rich color in the kitchen.
Out of the paint samples that you put on the dining room wall, I think you should go with the top color. It has more movement than creates a warmer color on the wall. I think it goes amazingly well with the overall esthetic of the design that you're creating in your home. I love watching your videos, you have such a unique design perspective that most people don't have. ( Don't pay attention to the negative comments, your videos are absolutely amazing) Can't wait to see what you do next!
Cabinet to floor: check. Metal grille: check. Myself, I would unite the cabinet and credenza and make the unit wall to wall, perhaps a floating shelf instead of a cabinet across the wall, then buy a snazzy brass bar cart you can take with you. Just thinking out loud …. If the outlets will be visible, I’d swap in beige ones to fade into the paint treatment. Looking forward to the next vid!
My God Bro, paint that table the color you love. Lighten it and it’ll just pop against that kitchen Matador right off. Conchita is pink. The other is yellow. Matador is natural to the green. A round rug could keep you from kicking up and edge as you trek through
In the background of your clip there is a watering pot on top of the fridge. It shines with a colour you are considering using on the walls of your dining area. That colour. If you look at your clip youll see how perfect it is. A mix of matador and conchita.
I love the top 1. It is earthy & warm. It will complement all your wood tones. I love the idea of metal grill in front of the a/c unit. Bringing the cabinet down to the ground is excellent idea. -Houston❤
That cabinet where the AC is would look more cohesive if it was a floor to ceiling corner cabinet and if it fits, make the same corner cabinet on the other side. As if they were built ins
Go big or go home. Top color for sure. My AC wall unit is anxiously awaiting a makeover ala what you come up with. Thank you for sharing your creativity. Peace from Michigan
I think you should have an individual door for the AC unit. The grill should still be in the door and will allow airflow, but if you need maximum airflow, you could open just that one door.
I like the middle lime wash swatch. For the AC doors, consider maybe trying a rattan material. It’s easier to work with in a DIY project. If you’ve seen Alexandra Gater’s videos, she uses rattan to cover heaters and ACs. IKEA is so good for DIY projects. Plus there is nothing wrong with getting some inspiration there as they do have some really good designs, it’s just much more accessible to those of us who are broke 😂.
El Matador is the best next to your kitchen. A bookcase in the corner would work better than what it is now. The sideboard will have to be really narrow, depth wise. Looking forward to watching this transformation. Are you planning to change the ceiling light? Probably should go along with what you have in the kitchen then? Can you do a gold colored wall and gold ceiling light? I’m asking because I have no idea.
El Matador will be a statement (but the middle one is really nice too). Which color works better with the floor and furniture? Have you considered also limewashing the glass door wall, getting rid of the contact paper on the cabinet and limewashing that too? It might make the cabinet disappear a bit whereas the dark contact paper makes it stand out.
Have you considered a cowhide rug for your dining room? They are flat & are extremely durable & easy to clean. They come in just about every color & give texture plus a statement piece. They tend to be irregular shapes so you don’t need to decide on what shape to do. I have a round breakfast table & my colors for the room are black, white & cream so I chose a black & white cowhide rug. Love your kitchen! 👍
This is his "inspo" video. He does one for each space to walk you through the design process as he's breaking things down and weighing options. This part is important for a lot of us working through the same issues in our own spaces. If you want just the doing part skip these videos and wait for the more DIY side. 😊
La Conchita pairs more nicely with the green as it's contrasting but not competing like the Matador. Also, both have golden tones that match with the bronze in your kitchen and dining room fixtures. However, it looks like the Matador is the same color as your mirror's rim. If you're using that mirror, a lighter color would allow the frame to have more visibility. The light fixture, I fear, could end up looking like floating glass. Also, Conchita is earthy like you want but matches closer to your dining chairs.
Leona (the middle sample) will work well with both your kitchen and your living room. I also like your plan to extend the length of the cabinet and to add a door with a grill or mesh. The fluted credenza would fit right in.
I love #2 it goes with the green and when you built your credenza, it will be a nice contrast. Try to match the wood grain from the credenza to the built-in where the AC sits.
You transformed your skylight into an art piece; you have the talent and patience to do anything you can imagine in your dining area. Rugs under tables ARE a pain, for all the reasons you mentioned. Have you considered painting the floor to look like a rug? Either free form or stencils (lots to choose from) would work; polyurethane seal it to protect wear and tear. I know you may have to replace the flooring when you move, but it’s a small area really, sooo… Also, consider that if you have anything like a sideboard on that back wall, using your current sized table, it might change the line of traffic from another spot in your space. Can’t wait to see what you do!😊
Oh I was praying you were going to keep the light fixture! I was going to say “Send it to me!!!!” if you didn’t, though! 😂😂 It reminds me of decor I saw in Germany in the late 70’s!! I’ve been seeing more of that European design in the US lately and I’m here for it. 💯
I think if you do the profiles on the wall a flat light colour rather than limewash would be better but this is only my opinion/taste. I bumped into yr vlog looking for inspiration and you were working at the kitchen and I loved how you are renovating yr apartment. I definitely subscribed 😊
I feel you have an art deco vibe. A circular rug at least 2-3 feet wider(each side) than your table would head the right direction. You could do floor to ceiling curtain panels between kitchen and dining. And/or you could do a wood panel to the side of the bookshelf to take it to the floor with a bar cart below: A similar boxed column to the left of the patio door, and maybe the left of the entry might tie that wall together, and define the dining and entry. Also, paint the left wall to match the other. 🤞🏼
look at traditional moroccan decor; your colors remind me of the light taupe zellige floors with dark green zellige borders. The top color looks most earthy and will look great with the gold/brassy colors and other darker shades of terracotta.
I prefer the middle lime wash. Feel like el matador is too dark. Would it be possible to mix them tho? Maybe two coats of Matador to get the movement, and a top coat of Conchita to lighten it a bit.
I like the depth and variation of the top color, but my own taste leans to more neutral earthy shading. It does have peach undertones and how are you going to decorate with that? Will you choose a solid color that is in the paint to paint the molding or will you simply paint it all with the lime paint. Might be very busy to have both lime paint and molding.
I'm not sure if you will be keeping the gold mirror, but do you think the top color will be too close to the color of the mirror? There will not be a contrast.
Ok. Do build the cabinet down but don't hide the food bowls cause you'll have the drawer pulled out all the time cause Scout needs water all the time. Ruggable rugs are very thin and don't feel nor look like a real rug.
Not liking the El Matador, maybe it doesn’t read well on camera but it seems too golden, too peachy which in my humble opinion doesn’t marry well with the green of the cabinets, doesn’t have a cohesive look side by side. Anyway, you asked for opinions so that’s my offering. I am looking forward to see the transformation in the dining area.
Love your makeovers, but when you're just talking and telling us about your plans...the music being played behind your voice is a bit distracting/not needed. I like just hearing you explain things. Background music is great when it's just visuals but competes with the audio track.
I hope you ditch the contact paper on the cupboard. It looks like contact paper. Take down that cabinet, even if it comes with the rental and get something nice you can take with you.
Enjoy seeing the work you do and the end result, but man oh man, you talk way too much before getting to any actual work. Out of a 32 minute vid, it took over 27 minutes before seeing the first brushstrokes on your walls. WAY too much talking.
@@MissInco which is exactly why he shouldn’t let his over talking take away from his incredible results and it’s a really simple fix. Maybe he can talk while he’s getting the job done. Multitask
I like the first one and your doing a great job hosting your channel your keeping my attention span you have a positive attitude.
Looking forward to seeing what you do ❤

Hi, in my opinion, I love the first color, i love the movements. But, i think i would try to light up with the second color on the last coat.❤
The top color. El Matador. I agree with the movement of it.
You should do wallpaper on that dining room wall
El Matador for sure 😊 ... offers a better flow from kitchen to dining room and compliments well. Feel the lighter paints appear dated & "dull" against the bold & rich color in the kitchen.
Agreed, the top version works well with your green tone.

El Matador is the one to use, It simply looks the best, I love the texture it gives to the room,

I like the top color. You can ask them to make the color a little darker or lighter when you go to Portola paint store.
My God Bro, paint that table the color you love. Lighten it and it’ll just pop against that kitchen

2 coats of El Matador with a coat of La Conchita on top… best of both worlds 😊
I love the middle one

El Matador for the win! Ole!

Love your channel!
Try a 50/50 mix of #1 & #2!

El Matador is my favorite.
Yes, do the metal grill/mesh door to hide that abomination. I look forward to see the final result.
The #1 😊

I vote the middle one
Definitely, The Matador, its beautiful and will go well with the green

I go to all these stores here in LA! Good work!
I think the top one is just right for the mood you want to create.
El matador for sure 100%. Love it!
I like the top one it has the most contrast. But you have to see it at night too
Love it.🥰

What about rug tiles ?
Did you change the gasket on the fridge? Love how you talk thru your design process. Kitchen is fantastic! Inspp
It’s black electrical tape! Brilliant isn’t it?
I like your style 😊
I'm not sure if you will be keeping the gold mirror, but do you think the top color will be too close to the color of the mirror? There will not be a contrast.
I noticed that as well.
Why not mix the 2 colours for even more texture and movement?
Ok. Do build the cabinet down but don't hide the food bowls cause you'll have the drawer pulled out all the time cause Scout needs water all the time.
Ruggable rugs are very thin and don't feel nor look like a real rug.
Do you have to change everything back to what it was?
I'm not sure about those colours. You should try: option 1, for example, SW7660 "Earl Grey" (or more appropriately match this colour: CMYK 1 / 0 / 3 / 41 - HEX #969793 - RGB 150 151 147 - HSL 75, 0.02%, 0.58% - LAB 62.27, -1.13, 1.97), or option 2, for example, SHERWIN WILLIAMS SW9562 "Fortitude" (or more appropriately match this colour: (CMYK 0 / 3 / 3 / 22 - HEX #C7C1C1 - RGB 199 193 193 - HSL 0, 0.05%, 0.77% - LAB 78.54, 2.1, 0.74).
