Another -ve would be you have to constantly move it to follow the wind. Some sort of yaw ability so you can leave it charging all night and have a fully battery by morning. In the UK the wind rarely stays put long in one direction.
You would have to make a footplate to do that, which the battery could stand on one part that has free rotation over a second which fixes to the ground.
Have purchased one of these and to honest it's not worth it. The wind needed to charge a modern phone is pretty high and needs to be constant. Day to day use is not an option as wind is either too low or inconsistent and multi directional. I have tried to charge different types of power bank and other devices, but the fact that the power is on and off with general use plays havoc with most of these devices. Better results can be achieved by using a small solar panel.
This is a situational but VERY well made item. It is about WHERE YOU USE it. Now if you were in a high wind area constantly, Mountain, or seaside, this is perfect. It is about keeping charge without sun. Getting much bigger than this is ridiculous because its not meant to be a Main power source, its meant to keep up and be sturdy. It is a perfect answer to some situations. Its a sealed unit, again, extreme quality when dealing with those situations because of lack of deterioration. If you seriously expect this to fail your needs you dont need it. All night, all day, its just a steady supply in likely solar lacking situations. If you think solar alone is going to do it youre foolish. And even Heat based TEG's are not always as useful in those high windy or shoreline instances. So get perspective. A good storage unit you syphon off of, and leave it be, Not simply this and a bunch of gadgets alone, that's idiotic.
Interest in this product as backup to solar, would be curious to see actually how long to charge Phone, GoPro in real conditions. Also to recharge a device like a power bank or Goal Zero Sherpa...)
you haven't exactly done a review of this. people would like to know how good it actually works etc.. all you doing here is showing what you get and how to set it up.
Well yes, we could have done a 30 minute in-depth review showing outputs / wind speeds and also done a lot more, however, time didn’t permit this, it is what it is.
With the sun and the wind I will travel forever. . . since I consume electricity to travel, why not recover some of it using a mini or micro wind generator, with vertical axis, placed externally somewhere in the car and a system of solar panels? These systems will deliver energy. . forever. (I mean: a moving object, like a car, will create a vortex in the air, the wind. When it hits the wind turbine, it will generate electricity that will recharge the batteries).
i have used this one a lot on my hikes and it does work, not as fast as a wall socket power charger but still works, if you need energy and you are in the middle of nowhere this (or photo cells) is the way to go
Hmm. Curious as to where you use cell phones. In the USA,rural Cell towers have immense battery backup. On par with that of a full house storage system. They last several DAYS, without the grid.

yeah, that would be a cool feature!

How efficient is it at charging .... 😭 the only thing that matters in the review besides price. Neither are mentioned..
Yes: bottom line is what kind of current it can deliver to a USB device & at what wind speeds.

I have a thesis project similar to this, can you explain the internal circuit for this
errr, no, i still have it but not going to take it appart as it can be useful
Where can i buyone

Can I install this onto my scooter and drive 32 miles per hour and have this generator not explode?
Ack - first rule of reviewing - a link to purchase the product.

:)
I have one of these and trust me it's not worth the money save your cash and buy a small solar panel that has USB.
It says 7.5to 10W output. But how much did it really do?
Didn't have the time to measure it. But the phone did charge so it was well within that range. Obviously when the wind was substantial.
How much price?
HI There. What is the price shipped to UK?
Cost
Really cool but whats the purchase price ?

LOL! wonder who stupid enough to fall for this junk. A tiny motor like that is not going to generator enough energy to power or charge anything.
