Screened in canning porch/sitting spot/sleeping spot my childhood saw me in such a place often in the mountains of VA. The stove was iron burning wood, the seats were steel gliders from Sears&Roebuck, the daybed was brass with a feather mattress . . . heaven at Grandmas.
I call it high functioning chaos! It isn’t the perfect white farmhouse décor. It is clean but cluttered-sometimes it’s messy. It’s a working kitchen/household! Love you guys! P.S. Ben, you’re an excellent teacher. Compost, gardening, building something from nothing, livestock, chickens. You are the real deal, sir! Thanks for all the great knowledge!
Buggy puttin that chicken away y'all! She is absolutely adorable and those young men are something to be just as proud of! Thank you for sharing beautiful people🤗
My mom would always say "there's meat on those bones, eat it!" My favorite part of your videos is watching your family sit down and pray before you eat. It makes my heart swell. 😊
Many times while watching Lil Sister help with food preparation, I see her snacking. As a long time preschool teacher, I say she seems to eat well. I don’t think she is a picky eater, just a healthy snacker! 😊🍎🍌🍑🍓🍅🌽😊
I have my canned food in cabinets, stacked in a hallway, dining room, under beds & in 2 different closets. I cover my stacks of food with a decorative piece of material. And yes we eat it. I also give some to my girls and their families at Christmas. 🥰
She is what all young women should aspire to be. She is the definition of wife and mother and the roll looks so good on her. Lovely family that shares some of their lives with us ❤️
I love that you guys are so down to earth. Your kids running barefoot reminds me of myself. I was a member of the Blackfoot tribe. Lol. It's nice to see a family pray and eat together. Kudos to you both. God bless
Buggie likes helping with the chicken. She will learn the rules re not sitting in the middle of the game. For a just over two she is wonderful. She will remember wet days as daddy snuggles days. Meg is a marvellous, very talented cook. 💕💕🌻🌻
Nicole has been dumping rain on us in Baltimore off and on all day. Having a row house and at one time 6 children living in the house, I understand the need for space to store things. A few years ago I was canning enough that I needed some shelves to store stuff on. I asked my husband to buy a sturdily made dresser, removed the drawers, and filled the spaces with pints of food. Then placed one of the empty drawers on top of the dresser and stored more cans in it. It worked for the space I had.
a friend lived in a very tiny house. Her end tables were actually produce boxes covered with cloths to store her sewing supplies in. Her husband cut some thin plywood to fit the tops of the boxes to give a smooth stable top.
I don’t know how you get so many things done in a day Meg. Makes me tired just watching you. Wish I could can like I used too. It’s wonderful to have it all tucked away to feed your family. Hope you have more cooking videos . I really enjoy them all. Thank you.❤
Nicole landed about 20 miles from us. We were blessed this year with only one storm and being flooded only once. The chicken coop flooded this year for the first time. No damage only water. Very thankful and blessed!! Love watching you all from the California move and around the country. I was so happy to see the boys cut up chicken like a pro!! You all are awesome❤
Not sure you will have much chicken to can, that little sweetie pie was so adorable eating it as fast as Ben took it off the bone. Has to make you feel so good that your children eat so healthy. Love your channel!
This was a fun video. Meg preserving applesauce, you & Buggy cleaning the chicken bones, Buggy snuggling with Dad, where's the preserves. My favorite is Strawberry freezer jam on warm homemade bread or biscuits yum. Love Buggy's hair and she looks a lot like Corbin ( hopefully that's the youngest boys name) and Buggy screaming that's family life 😂. Have a wonderful weekend and blessings to all. 😊🇺🇲
Watching Meg cook reminds me of my Grandmother "the perfect wife & mother". I miss her so much☺️ There was always an abundance of food that Grandpa & she grew. Your family is so blessed!
Nothing like it.... living life, with family in real time. comforting Buggie was such a tender moment.. Still heart this precious family. My dad, who was a dirt worker, used to say on the rainy days, "those are sweet drops of rest!"
Yet again you all amaze and amuse us. You would think having so many in the house during the rain would make it cramped, but you appear to get along so well that your home appears more spacious. In this case your familial attitude works to your advantage. Well done!
I appreciate you guys talking about storing food in nooks and crannies while living in a small space because that is the #1 reason I see when people say they want to preserve food but can't. "I live in a small space. I don't have the space." Thanks for showing that small spaces can work.
You go girl, I'm 71 yrs old and I can everything I can get my hands on. I have some things we need to eat before the new year. You know he could wash dishes while you cook 👍
Free-choice, range-fed Family eatin-at the kitchen groaning board whilst processing food. Buggy can put it away! This is such a great way to raise children because learning is Always! 💝💝💝
Buggy grazing all around the work table is hilarious! What .scene stealer! Lol! Meg I wish I had your energy and passion for canning and preserving food! You are so good at feeding your family and being frugal, stretching every bit! GO MEG!!!!
What an wonderful family. Buggy official job as Taster awesome at it. Meg I love it when at the end of a video you say bye, and have this amazing smile. When you don't it doesn't seem finished yet. Thanks for sharing your family with us. God bless you all always.
AMEN!!! Don't let living in a small space stop you! In our last place we had an extra fridge in one of our bathrooms, and a freezer in a bedroom, and yes we stashed stuff all over. Organized but still utilized all of our space. And yes! Use on your canned food all of the time!
I grew up in in home that was about the same size. Family of 6. Always good food, family prayers and meals together. Love what you're doing. Currently, retired and living solo. Again in 864 sq. ft. Made my first pantry a few months ago. I can live with less clothes but a stocked pantry is better. Next year planning on canning from my garden. I get inspired watching you. (I think I can give up another closet for that.)☺️
I’m in the process of doing this very thing to the free turkey I was blessed to receive by buying a ham. Just finished watching your journey video. Gave me a fresh appreciation for you all and where you are now. You are crushing it!
I love all of you. You're a great team. Thanks for sharing your journey. I like watching Meg in the kitchen but I also like watching Ben and the boys doing their guy things, and Buggy being a whirlwind. Happy week end and blessings.
Good afternoon love when Meg is teaching her happy family unit how to use all the best part of the food and making her happy son into a future master chef contestant take care Peter Cape town
Sometimes it is just nice to sit and enjoy the family atmosphere. Rainy days are nice time to catch up on reading, crafting, or watching your favorite RUclips.
We are 720 sqft. We store under beds too. ❤️🙏🥰 Buggie is so cute! Eating her way through life! Eating chicken as fast as it gets picked off! Great to know she will not go hungry. Great to see boys helping! Love your family!
Your list plus Sow the Land, Fit Farmer, Roots and Refuge Farm, Lumnah Acres . . . top shelf ones then there are like 20 more I watch because TV went to H, E, double hockey sticks. 😆
Meg, you are absolutely amazing! If I had to do as much cooking and preserving as you do, I’d at least invest in a BIG STACK of paper plates for one meal a day, just to cut down on the never ending cleanup, at least during harvest. Your family is blessed to have you! ❤
Wow...love all the food canning...Buggy reminds me of a little 🐦 bird, swapping each perch to see which foods best. It makes my heart sing seeing everyone helping to prepare for the really cold winter. Enjoy your well deserved weekend guys. Maybe a new project for next year is a root cellar??? At least you'll be able to store more canning. Love, hugs and blessings to you all xjx
I love watching Meg in the kitchen. So inspiring! I cook for three adults and need to make extra for those days when I don’t have the time or energy to make meals. I have a small kitchen so when I make large batches of food I make sure that I can clean it up before it gives me anxiety. Bless your beautiful family! 🥰
I have boxes full of jars everywhere myself. Canning is such a wonderful hobby that does so much more then feed my hunger. Putting up food when it is at the ripest and knowing that I have good food that is healthy feeds my heart
Buggy has "Hair by Crazy Meg" LOL What a precious little angel. You guys are my favorite family to follow. Megs chicken and rice and gravy is making me hungry LOL. Have an awesome weekend.
Just rewatched ya'lls Thanksgiving in a trailer video from 3 years ago. I could watch that over and over. Ya'll talking about being thankful for all the kids not even knowing that one more would be coming after that.❤
Thanks for a very nice day inside with the Hollars! Wonderful applesauce and great to pick the meat off your chicken carcasses for canning too. It's cute to see Lillianna sample everything. She is your quality control. You guys are such a pleasure to watch! I like the under the table storage of the canned goods!
About time to do something with that old house use the wood if you're not going to make her a soap shop then make her a big room to store your canned goods put some shelves in it I know I am hung up on that old house give the boys something to do demolishing it LOL stay blessed. I love your family.
What a good son helping you tell him thank you from me...I just absolutely love watching you and your kids..Thats what we all do to nooks and cranys.. wait till all your orchards come in...haaaaa
Love the reference to "hidden pictures" :) your family and all the activities remind me of my childhood. Picking the chicken, snapping the beans or shelling peas.... applesauce making and jelly... All of those things were "ordinary" in my home growing up... fast forward to my grandkids generation... and yeah... kind of forgotten! Generations of Fast food and busy crazy life have messed up our society! Thanks for bringing it all back! Best of everything to you all!
Reclaimed chicken is wonderful 😉 Meg you are great at taking care of your family. We love your relationship with your daughter. As a mom of 2 beautiful daughters myself, let me tell you what a blessing it is to have them be there for me and appreciate all that hard work I willingly did for them. Now I get to encourage them as young mothers. God knew you needed that sweet handful of a girl to help you survive all those boys🥰💕 It gets better, hang in there, your doing wonderful ❤🙏
Buggie is so adorable and funny😂 Meg's right, she probably sat ON their game! Toddlers aren't game friendly. She's is totally fine, just tired😉 Love your cooking Meg. I live in a tiny apartment. I'm not as good at finding space like you have. Mine always looks like ground zero of a bomb
I'm in southern Maine,so luckily this storm won't be too bad for us.We'll be getting 1-2 inches of rain from this, nothing the ground can't handle.Stay safe and stay sane!
🤣🤣🤣We didn’t do much! Nice one. I’m with Meg, I like to operate in an organized clean kitchen. I try and clean up one mess before starting another one. Nice seeing family work together. Well done. 😊💕🙏🏻🇨🇦
I laughed at Buggy helping herself to chicken. We got rain then sleet then snow- basically a winter storm. That means icy roads and winter. Your vlogs are great. Thanks
This is the best! I love everyone InThe kitchen and your meal times are so touching to me. Baby girl just snacking all day so wonderful! Just love you all.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Originally from the Pacific Northwest of the US, I've lived in Germany for many years. I was only able to see a lot of the US by moving away from it (and having a daughter who did long-haul trucking for a company that allowed family members to accompany their drivers - again, many years ago). My dream "way back when, in my younger years" had been doing music - and doing what you guys are doing now. Unable to handle raising my own meat, I first went vegetarian, then vegan (which I still am today), but still did extensive organic gardening. Circumstances and a physical illness gave me a different direction to take, yet my heart has always been that of a homesteader. I appreciate and deeply admire the fact that you raise your own animals and chose to follow your hearts, raise your family as you do. Although I haven't been there from the very start of your vlogging, I've been catching up as I can over time. I just want to say THANK YOU for being you, and sharing your endeavors with those of us who carry that dream in our hearts.
the little one is so cute to watch its like she is saying one for you one for me, one for you one for me lol I love watching little ones learn how to help around the house outside its all so cute to watch my grandmother and my mom and all her sisters use to put their stuff under the beds any corner that was not being used was a good spot to put your stuff
You brought back some wonderful memories when you were making applesauce. My mom did it all.. she's fixin to be 94 in December. She is awesome!!! So are ya'll..ty..xoxo 🥰👍🤟✌🖐🤪
We pray that you don’t come out of the storm with damage. We live in a place called Renmark in South Australia and we are expecting flooding, the other week we had 8.0 mm in a matter of hours. The River is getting higher and wider. Stay safe all. 💞🇦🇺
Wow you both have a amazing and adorable children mom you sure seem to enjoy cooking and dad is a great helper I really enjoy watching your wonderful videos thank you all for sharing your beautiful family videos stay safe and blessed outthere Rosa from Texas
I don't think you all know how much you bless us. i get a big smile when I know I get to share a little bit of your life. May God bless you and grow your site.
Out the window, Meg! Straight out the window, jet hose in the morning and bring back in to wash properly when breakfast is over. That’s what windows are for in busy kitchens. Or maybe it’s just me… 😬
I found a tall cupboard for my laundry room and a cute short bookcase for my dining room - several shelves delegated to canning. I have 2 walk-in pantries delegated to equipment and canned good plus hubby built me a floor to almost ceiling shelf in the hallway. My aunt kept hers in boxes under all of the beds in the bedrooms. Whereever you can store your jars temperately, works. Nice work on another busy day.
Ahhh life with toddlers! As a mom of five and grandma of 7, I thoroughly enjoyed this episode full of Bugginess. It was adorable. And nice to see the “other side” of her and how well the whole family takes it in stride.
Meg, My husband and I have had this on going conversation about clear thinking and your environment. I work from home, I split my office with my sewing room, with all of the bits and pieces computers, sewing & serger machines machines etc it’s important for me to be successful at my job or on a project I need a clean space to work or set up a project. My husband’s office OY a disaster of piles, papers, and his collection of.. “honey these are going to be worth a lot some day” trucks and music souvenirs. My husband takes a chemo pill twice a day, that’s left him…. (Am I allowed to say Dense) unfocused for the most part. You have to spell out a b & c not just say.. i need this done. He can’t set an order to complete tasks. It could be as simple as clearing dishes from the table and putting them in the sink, pre rinsing and into the dish washer. Boy last night, it was an eye opener. So that said Your right Cook/clean Clean/Cook Separate Laundry Do Laundry Separate and put it away. I think it’s a cognitive clear space that’s needed , maybe that’s what I’m rambling on about.. to whom ever out there may be reading this. The Boys are growing like weeds, and baby girl buggy is too adorable for words. She’s a twin of one of her brothers right up to the mop of blonde on their heads. Peace, Love & Faith
I get such a kick watching Sister snacking on everything that was on the table. Then sliding her bowl back n forth. Good thing she has little hands. Yes, it is a joy that you share with us the stuff you do, it is like family to us all. Thank you.
Build that deck and make her an outdoor kitchen for that canning. 😁
It’s on the list 😂
@@TobyCatVA That sounds so lovely
Yes!
That's on my list too.
I still have my mom's trivet that says "Our house is clean enough to be healthy and dirty enough to be happy". Love is made in the middle.
I love that!
I'm using this from now on!!!!! It's gold
That needs to be on a sign!
So cute with Buggy eating the chicken just as soon as you put it on the pan.
I also thought that was adorable.
Buggy puttin that chicken away y'all! She is absolutely adorable and those young men are something to be just as proud of! Thank you for sharing beautiful people🤗
I was wondering how much of that chicken actually made it into the bowls....

I’m not sure that she can. 😅
I love to watch Meg cook w/ the family
She is what all young women should aspire to be. She is the definition of wife and mother and the roll looks so good on her. Lovely family that shares some of their lives with us ❤️
It takes all kinds of people to make the world. Meg sure is a lovely person. Yet not all women are suited or gifted in the same way.
I’m pretty sure Buggy won’t have much of an appetite for supper 😂🤣 🍗
I love that you guys are so down to earth. Your kids running barefoot reminds me of myself. I was a member of the Blackfoot tribe. Lol. It's nice to see a family pray and eat together. Kudos to you both. God bless

It would be interesting to see Ben making knives and metal working stuff in the barn, if you are short of topics to entertain us with 😊😊

My oh My, Buggy is getting to look more and more like Meg every time I see her.
I want to see her make biscuits. I could watch that every day.

Love how little bits, was going around the table and samplings all the things. Lol
Sissy is eating more chicken than she is putting in the bowl, lol. Oh to be 2 again! Thank you for sharing your life with us.
We have a 480 sq. Ft. House and yes. Every nook and cranny has stuff stashed! Makes you creative.
I love the kitchen and food prep stuff. It's cuz of Meg that I knew to use the dough hook when I started making bread.
Meg I love to see you cook, you and your beautiful family.👍👍👍
I don't think you all know how much you bless us. i get a big smile when I know I get to share a little bit of your life. May God bless you and grow your site.
I could watch y’all all day everyday !
My brother in law had the idea to attach the drill to the apple saucer crank handle! It’s amazing how much more quickly the job gets done!
Too cute the little one keeps eating!!! Love it
I enjoy the laugh I get from watching Buggy, always eating!!!
So that said
Your right
Cook/clean Clean/Cook Separate Laundry Do Laundry Separate and put it away.
Thank you.
