I graduated Infantry OSUT on June this year and not going to lie I thought I was going to get recycled after falling out some rucks cause I fucked up my ankle during the Obstacle Course. It got so bad that I needed to go to Physical Therapy. One tip is if you need to go to sick call or physical therapy try to go on days where you aren’t doing major training events. These include Grenade training, Forge/FTX, CBRN and anything that people can get recycled for.

My upper back, neck, trapezoid area gets messed up so hope it won't during bmt. Had shin splins during football camp in high school, and played through it. Let's just say I wasn't the fastest on the team thus didn't get close to being a starter. It hurt like hell every step.

I'm most worried about knee injuries from running and rucking as an older recruit. What would you advise if you think its inevitable? Make sure you speak to your medics before its a problem? Even though your going to end up on that watch list? I'd rather get recycled any day than not join.

Did you have to take time off when you had sprain ankle? I am asking because my son has bilateral stress knee fractures and now he is on crutches, and will have to start red phase again. Do they give you enough time to heal from the injury if it take one and a half month to two months? Do they keep you at BCT until you heal or they send you home and you return later? How does it work in the army? I am worried about this situation. Thanks.

Another recruit intentionally tripped my SIT. Knee injury. I hope he heels and doesn’t have to be recycled. So much for learning to be “comrades”……..

Absolutely recked my knee during FTX in basic while rucking in the woods by a hole in the ground the perfect width for my foot and deep enough to swallow my entire leg and not feel the bottom but ig my knee didn't take it the best but my adrenaline was pumping so I walked it off a few days later I realized I can't put all my body weight on tht one knee without it collapsing on me if its slightly bent

What would you say to someone that is in the process of healing from an ankle sprain (mild to moderate) from four weeks ago? I'm not enlisted still a civilian but this injury feels like it's taking so long to heal. I got the sprain on my ankle like on 6/5/21 and it's currently 7/9/21 and I'm *still* feeling slow on my mile time (significantly slower) and I barely ran at 21 minutes when I did my practice acft 2 mile run. So I'm like trying to get back to where I was but this injury is leaving me discouraged like I want to still be able to run again and it is like literally impossible to run fast right now. :(

Oh and I'm planning on enlisting this year!! I'm like hoping it heals by the end of the year in time for meps. I don't want it to end up being disqualifying for an ankle 😫
