Yes, apart from Ramayana and Mahabharata we need to explore other areas as well to broaden our mythology zone.

This genre should definitely get expanded as there are many stories we have heard from our childhood in a short summary like, Pralad, we were only told about him being burned by holika and few years later his father being killed by narsimbha.

So Indian mythological fiction books being a work of fiction take a lot of liberties and even, most of such books are pure fantasies just using characters or concepts from the Indian mythology. So, there isn’t much to learn in there.
They definitely get you intrigued to research and study more about the mythological characters or just stories.
