Good to see Kannada books on your list. If you're interested in reading more of Kannada literature, you can start with these three books. 1. Karvalo - Poornachandra Tejaswi. 2. No presents please(short stories) - Jayanta Kaikini 3. TejoThungabhadra - Vasudhendhra
The Aunt Who Wouldn't Die original book name is Goynar Baksho. There is a movie named Goynar Baksho in bengali directed by Aparna Sen. You can watch it also with subtitle.

"Ha Ha Hu Hu" by Vishwanatha Satyanarayana (Telugu book English translation) Sekhar: Ek jeevani by Agyeya (Sekhar- A life. English translation) Deewar me ek khidki rehti thi by Vinod Kumar Shukla (A Window Lived in the Wall - English translation by Satti Khanna) First one is historical fiction+magical realism, second is psychoanalytic+stream of conciousness, third is also somewhat magical realism. Both 2nd and 3rd are one of their kinds in Hindi literature, so original would be better, but you can try their English translation as well. Apart from Manav Kaul you can also read books by Divya Prakash Dubey (extremely simple hindi used).
You should include 'Pather Panchali' by Bibhutibhushan Bondopaddhay 'Devdas' & ' Shrikant ' by Sharat Chandra Chattopadhyay ' Durgesh Nandini ' by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay ❤
Yes more of these recommendations videos once a while please You somehow pickup really good authors and books and you look very interested and excited while talking about them ❤
I would recommend a Marathi Book called "Man Me Hai Vishwaas" by Vishwas Nangre Pati. I've read that book a long time back, I remember I was came home only for two days and my childhood friend recommended it to me, and I had started reading it, and the book was so engaging that I had finished it in just one day😅. It's a biographical book and I feel it's available in English.
In Marathi, two books I would highly recommend are 'Mrutyunjay' by Shivaji Sawant and 'Hindu: Jagnyachi Samruddga Adgal' by Bhalchandra Nemade. First one has got Murtidevi Puraskar of Jnanpith and second has got Jnanpith itself. There is English translation of Mrutyunjay and I'm sure there must be one of Hindu also. Mrutyunjay is basically a life story of Karna from Mahabharat. Hindu sets in a village in Maharashtra in 1930s to 1960s and as things progress in Maharashtra and India, the story grows covering all dimensions of social and political life. I couldn't find proper translation for adgal but it roughly means unwanted things that you don't throw away but keep with you.
Wow what a great recommendation! I will try and find the books and hopefully read them at some point in life. But thank you, I always appreciate recommendations that are underrated ✨
How can you forget dharmveer bharti his two novels, gunahon ka devata and suraj ka saatvan ghoda are one of the best novel of hindi and his play andha yug is the best hindi play of all time. Please read him
