I don’t recommend cutting your wire all by yourself, you could go back to your dentist and have it fix. If you can’t go immediately to your dentist, you can temporarily put some wax on to prevent it from cutting your gums while waiting for you schedule.
I used wax, my sister found it a hastle but I didn't mind it that much, I also got my dentist to readjust them because her clinic is nearby. Sometimes I just put in a cotton and change it every few hours until my teeth are done moving and readjusting on their own.
I had a pokey wire the last time I got my braces tightened but didn't realise it when I was still at the dentist's. I figured I could used a nail cutter like the previous times but it only ended up putting dents on my nail cutter. RIP to my nail cutter.
When I got mine one of the rings poked into my tongue and it made a mark on it and it hurt really bad so we called The orthodontist and they said it was normal and at my next appointment they said it wasn't and fixed it lol

As someone whose parents work in dentistry, don't use orthowax use gishy goo it's way better and sticks on longer

mine would just bend the wire...
Simple solution is to give a bendback which also helps in anchorage according to mbt..but orthodontists are too lazy to do that

To solve this is simple. I personally just put a small amount of chewing gum to the protuding wire rather than buying some ortho wax .
