Yes, brilliant that Mokuba got some deeper characterisation and a show of maturity. Mokuba is only an ancillary tertiary supporting character--even background, some might say less generously--but it's testament to the writing & characters of YGO that even he gets onscreen moments to develop and change and grow.
In many ways, he's like Vegeta. He's very skillfulled, even a genius, but he's also incredibly arrogant and way too obsessed with being the best. Much like Vegeta, that denial has only held him back.
I've gotta give the boy credit for finally growing a pair and calling his brother out for being such a hateful dick and being the voice of reason! Made him see what that Episode 1 mind crush couldn't.
Technically he has been mind crushed twice. In season zero he was mind crushed so harsh he was put into a temporary coma where in his mind he could think threw his actions and realize his mistakes. (Yami did this on purpose so Kaiba could have a chance at becoming a better person.) That being said, apparently getting his mind crushed twice wasn’t enough, because it took Mokuba telling him off to get threw his thick skull.
It's not even really hate on Seto's part by the end of the series. He's just got so used to grumbling about Yugi & friends, and lacks so much social skill, that he's painted himself into a corner and can't work out how to backtrack and befriend them.
@@UfoLoche He always had respect for Yugi at least, because he had to. Yugi beat him when he was at his best and the standing World Champion. So I can see him giving Yugi a leg up for both that reason and because he knows that a game made by the King of Games is going to make BANK! So I wouldn't doubt that he made a pretty penny off of either Yugi's game via distribution or as a partner in some way.

I love how Mokuba just grows a spine in this scene. It really got Seto to consider if Yugi/Atem were actually right about him.
