Almost as if players who are closer than the other party members gravitate their characters together. The exact reason you don't have a couple in your group, they will insert their relationship into the story and/or prevent the other player-character from acting like they naturally would.

As someone who started dnd with social anxiety i kind of understand caleb. Which is odd considering thats also my name. Not necessarily the main character syndrome. I was actually more quiet in my campaign than i probably should've been. But i understand the anxiety. I myself have autism and so i was very awkward and worried about how i seemed to those around me. So i understand being tense but if you know youre gonna be doing this for a show relaxing is the best thing to do. Enjoy time with your friends. I just hope he doesn't continue to let his stress effect him. I know how it feels but its worse feeling like youre ruining the fun for everyone else. As for the main character syndrome thats something that i often see with other people who just started. Its easy to forget you need to leave room for others when youre used to doing things solo especially with how unique dnd itself is. So i can excuse it for the most part. Im hoping he'll be more self aware as the series goes on though. His character is funny when he tries to get into things. I just wish he wasnt constantly stressing and looking like hes freaking out. You can see his anxiety in his eyes.

i@terradon852 I wouldn't say that. Caleb just needs a wake up call, plenty of first timers, especially after their character dies for the first time, learns to fit into the flow of things.

Important tips from me as an experienced player and DM: 1) When describing your character, focus on the visual aspect only, excluding details about their past, family, connections, or objectives. This is because neither your party members nor the audience should know what you are looking for or what your past is; the revelations will be more powerful for everyone to discover when the right time comes. Exploring each character's backstory becomes more enjoyable as the sessions progress, adding depth to the campaign and making it more rewarding. Avoid rushing character stories by spoon-feeding them right away it's very important. 2) I understand that at the table, we need to "do the mission" and not stall the start, but the party members meeting it only occurse once in a campaign, it's important to not rush important roleplay sscenes, That's essentially METAGAMING... Consider the scenario: you find yourselves sequestered in a weird museum, with a lot of people you don't know and suddenly someone instructs you to embark on a quest. Wouldn't you be more reluctant to obey, questioning the situation? That's the essence of DND - roleplaying situations as you would in real life. It's not a video game where you talk to NPCs and complete quests; it's about immersing yourself in the story and adding drama to compelling situations." Bonus tip: 3) I'm seeing a lot of talk about Caleb in the comments, but remember that this is their first session. Some people might be a bit 'shy' when starting to roleplay and others more active, it's not their fault, and as the sessions progress, everyone who needs to dial it up their conversation their might do so. In the other end perhaps Caleb will also tone it down a bit to balance things out. So, I will not focus on any individual. Just try to relax, open yourself to act, and if you notice that you are taking the spotlight, maybe try asking your party members for an idea or a comment regarding X or Y. Like Matt did at 43:05 (10/10 Matt, good job) That would help them introduce themselves to the conversation, or as a DM if you see a specific player taking all the spotlight, intervene and ask the quiet player what their are doing or if they want to say something, this is even more important when having 2 DMs, you cannot let this things pass because you want everyone to share the spotlight and to have their moment, because this was the first session, that's good for now. Besides this things i liked the sesion a lot, gonna keep whatching it and supporting it, take this tips with love and respect, i speak from a place of love for this game, DND literally saved my life, literally cured my depression, i enjoyed every character, loved Seven specially and the 2 GM mechanic souns amazing to explore, i've never saw that before, that was cool. I would like you all to have your best time in this great make-belief game so keep it up and i'm already excited for ep 2 and beyond ❤❤
About the 2nd tip, I both agree and disagree. Yes, you should play your character to a point, but saying no to the call of adventure grinds the story to a halt. In that case the DM(s) have to spend a lot of time convincing the characters or just exclude them since they don't want to go. There are so many stories about that happening and even ending games. Some degree of suspension of disbelief is a must in order to keep things going, especially in a game people are watching. You can justify it by saying these characters were chosen by some power (which is true in this case) and thus are more likely to agree.
Well said! I’m new to DnD so it’s interesting to see an experienced player’s take on how this session went. A lot of the feedback you said makes sense too. I’m sure the party dynamic will balance out, and people will take a more prominent role which will give Caleb room to take a step back at the same time.
This was nice. People are clearly still finding their footing, the dynamic of the table is quite literally just starting being built, but so far, this was fun as hell.
This was the best dude, Caleb needs to cool it though, he’s already showing signs of being the problem player. Every group has one, I’m getting a lot of Tiberius Stormwind vibes right now, that’s far from a compliment.
@@kettlefleet829 In the start of Critical Role, there was a player named Tiberius Stormwind who exhibited various instances of metagaming and had a conflicting ego against the DM and other players. @@MrRevashI have a few corrections. The character was Tiberius, the player was Orion Acaba. The chemistry between the players and DMs is great. But Celeb, buddy, as someone who has been was too enthusiastic coming into a new game after probably a very long time since playing - which is all i think it is, i dont think you are pulling a Tibberius or a "that guy" - but take a step back look at your character and see if you are working with the group or directly causing players to not have their "moment". I don't think this isn't a very fixable thing, a little communication between the group about this wouldn't be a bad thing. I want to see this succeed because its amusing and unique among actual plays... but remember you have 6 other players at your table with unique stories, skills and ablities working together is only going to build on this. Particularly playing a Cleric you are about buffs and debuffs for your party as much as healing or combat. I hope this was just working out kinks of a new game and Celeb turns that main character energy around because the character concept is great.
As a cleric main, you really can do any role in the party by picking the right domain, clerics don't need to be pigeonholed into being a healer. I do agree about the accidental main character syndrome.

@@misterepic0456 yes but also I barely noticed it in the first place. the others are learning to roleplay an his character is supposed to be a bit of a fuck. an i kind of like it.
Absolutely love the wacky premise, the unique elements of each character and how everyone plays them! It's really cool that this is a campaign starting at Lethal Level One and the DMs countered that shit by making the first enemies they fight just super basic thugs and by also giving every character a unique, once per game feature that lets them do something pretty powerful in not just combat, but roleplaying. I can also see why two DMs run this game, it'll make for more planning efficiency without compromising on the overarching plot. Also, excellent choice to cut out the prep work and breaks, I'm all for three hour episodes, but shaving off some time by skipping map assembly and initiative rolls is pretty good. Just a fucking shame that I gotta wait a week for Episode 2, when a show is this good, it's like addictive drugs. I need another fix!
Vested Skillcheck DM here - thank you so much for the kind words. Episode two gets right around into the nonsense. No spoilers butt trust me, it's pretty great.
GNOME IS COMPETING FOR THE BEST SERIAL KILLER LMAO I also love how they reacted to him killing for the first time and ofc I LOVED THE "Hey Heart chill u earned it" convo
There is always a main character, sometimes it's the guy with the best rolls, sometimes it's the guy who roleplays the best. It's rarely who starts a group of seven, but I guess you have two DMS.
i love how everybody made somewhat serious characters and then there's charlie and matt who just made a gummy bear hippo with a pun for a name and a boeing attorney from new york
I really hope Caleb does not turn out to be Skill Check's version of Orion Acaba from Critical Role Campaign 1. I do not believe he could be as bad as Orion but it is not good within the first 25min he was that exaggerated and took the spotlight while he was introducing everyone. Hopefully from all the comments about him they talk to him.
1:04:00 "I cast Minor Illusion and there's jingling keys moving towards the engine room" That was the most DM move I've seen a player make 1:45:51 Now we can add "Is a heart an object?" to the list of weird questions players can make in D&D (the DM let that happen, so at least here the answer was "yes")
This looks like a very fun time. I reckon this will be a hit in the long run based on this great first episode where people are still fitting into their shoes, yet despite that still amazingly fun.
It’s so awesome to see the DM team of Ryan and Drew rather than the classic singular DM with a triple-panel board and Monster Manual. Their banter adds so much to the theatre of the mind and I’m reading how the already charismatic adventurer group instinctively feeds and even cues off them. Judge/Jury/Executioner is positively brilliant for Hell’s premier counsel and Stewie as “Steward” is so refined yet also wily 😂Foray is wicked interesting, too. Straz center live sesh??
This reminds me of roleplaying in any game: RDR, Arma 3, GTA. Some great memories. Except this is so much more, because it’s anything. I just wish I had a group of friends who would want to do something like this.
Can't wait for the next episode but I already have a gripe. Caleb is being that guy at the table. For example when Charlie wanted to become a big monster and scare everyone away, that's funny as shit, then Caleb chimes in to take away the thunder from Charlie. Please don't be this guy.
That moment was rlly annoying because the idea of Charlie terrifying everyone was hilarious but then when Caleb chimed in to change the idea to make him seem like part of the parade it really took away from it imo
Damn I wish we saw Matt's attorney get pissed off about being teleported away right before getting his record. Would've been funny if the one thing he got that he left behind was the other lawyer. Everyone was just like... Yeah I guess we are here now.
I’m very excited for this. I have never watched a DnD show before, I’ve just mostly played it, so this will be my first experience. So far the plot seems goofy and the characters’ dynamic fit the tone pretty well. Hoping Seven and Stewie get more time to shine in later episodes since they didn’t get a chance to do much this first episode.
Oooh, you should check out Viva La Dirt League's campaigns. I've been absolutely hooked & they do sketch comedy with dif scenes. And Robert Hartley's a brilliant DM.
Caleb disrupts the DM and the other people too much, most of the time it feels extremely unnecessary. Besides that everyone else had great chemistry, and the story was super fun!
So stoked to finally watch this. Caleb and Charlie are my draws, but from what I've seen everyone has made awesome characters and are going to slay, can't wait for my new addiction 💜
Based Owlbear Rodeo. I've been using it for some Pathfinder 2e games and it's a nice light VTT for gaming as long as you have another place for character sheets.

@@Idontgiveaduck lol fair enough, I was just sharing advice in case you didn't know, there are a lot of new players in the hobby. Also, yeah, it's really fun to go tempest cleric and bully strahd lmal
So I love a lot of what Caleb's character is, but boy oh boy did he make this hard to watch at some points. That being said, it's not the worst MCS I've seen and honestly if he just stops interrupting people any calms down a bit on the aggressiveness he'll be great fun to watch.
ig he is more aggressive than the other ones
@@majorkrizpy9939 I'm just starting. Does he get any better?
@@misterepic0456 yes but also I barely noticed it in the first place. the others are learning to roleplay an his character is supposed to be a bit of a fuck. an i kind of like it.
@@majorkrizpy9939 this is exactly how I feel
This is super good and I know it’ll just get better once everyone gets in the groove with their characters.
What im doing is watching an episode of this once per week and an episode of mystery quest once per week
I would like this comment but it’s at 69 likes and I don’t wanna ruin it
1:19:38 After the BG3 voice actor DnD session, I feel like every DnD campaign should have a mandatory character named Bing Bong
Community did it first 😎
So glad this crew is playing dnd, so many chuckles to come.
So glad charlie shouted this out on his own channel!! Yay!
GNOME IS COMPETING FOR THE BEST SERIAL KILLER LMAO I also love how they reacted to him killing for the first time and ofc I LOVED THE "Hey Heart chill u earned it" convo
I thought charlie was gonna go for testicular torsion as his final attack
32:41 I feel like he has all of that built in to his character
Really excited to see where this goes! I have a feeling everyone's gonna get really into this by the end of it haha.
favorite was definitely seven so many good witty remarks
I love Chelsea so much, she is literally acting as her job entails, hahahaha.
There is always a main character, sometimes it's the guy with the best rolls, sometimes it's the guy who roleplays the best. It's rarely who starts a group of seven, but I guess you have two DMS.
Best way to get traction for actual play these days is making shorts and reels of good moments
i love how everybody made somewhat serious characters and then there's charlie and matt who just made a gummy bear hippo with a pun for a name and a boeing attorney from new york
That was so fun, what an insane cast and dynamics !
1:04:00 "I cast Minor Illusion and there's jingling keys moving towards the engine room" That was the most DM move I've seen a player make
1:45:51 Now we can add "Is a heart an object?" to the list of weird questions players can make in D&D (the DM let that happen, so at least here the answer was "yes")
Jingling keys utterly destroyed me that was so funny
This looks like a very fun time. I reckon this will be a hit in the long run based on this great first episode where people are still fitting into their shoes, yet despite that still amazingly fun.
So glad this is finally coming to fruition.
hey cinder funny seeing you here
Danny and Chase’s characters are genuinely really good
This is the greatest D&D of all time
I wouldn't go that far x) But it's fun for sure
For all people who understand this reference😂 unlike the guy above me
@sethender443 hmm, ur right, I don't. :) mb
@@TemojikatoAll of Charlie’s videos simply have the description say “this is the greatest ______ of all time” ^^
@@Evanz111 ah lol, never look there ;p thanks
It’s so awesome to see the DM team of Ryan and Drew rather than the classic singular DM with a triple-panel board and Monster Manual. Their banter adds so much to the theatre of the mind and I’m reading how the already charismatic adventurer group instinctively feeds and even cues off them. Judge/Jury/Executioner is positively brilliant for Hell’s premier counsel and Stewie as “Steward” is so refined yet also wily 😂Foray is wicked interesting, too. Straz center live sesh??
😮
Almost scrolled past this beautiful piece of a gem
8:50 from this point it’s COMEDY 😂
This reminds me of roleplaying in any game: RDR, Arma 3, GTA. Some great memories.
Except this is so much more, because it’s anything. I just wish I had a group of friends who would want to do something like this.
There are westmarch servers where people play through discord. I currently play in a naruto one, multiple Dm's and players and one big world.
Can't wait for the next episode but I already have a gripe. Caleb is being that guy at the table. For example when Charlie wanted to become a big monster and scare everyone away, that's funny as shit, then Caleb chimes in to take away the thunder from Charlie. Please don't be this guy.
Which one's Caleb? Just started watching. But for whatever reason I'm guessing it's the guy at the top-right. xD
@@drearmouse9510you are correct. He got frustrated for no reason over things.
You are right, BUT they are new to the game AND a very tight group of friends. He'll grow out of it and they'll learn to handle it properly.
That moment was rlly annoying because the idea of Charlie terrifying everyone was hilarious but then when Caleb chimed in to change the idea to make him seem like part of the parade it really took away from it imo
@@Temojikato I hope so. Caleb's always been like this so not too confident. He's had his movements before in past streams
The npcs are going to be leaving this bar with a thousand yard stare
Most of them did not leave☹️
Everyone's so entertaining but I'm liking Chase and Aaron's characters so far!
This was funny and masterfully crafted
Damn I wish we saw Matt's attorney get pissed off about being teleported away right before getting his record. Would've been funny if the one thing he got that he left behind was the other lawyer.
Everyone was just like... Yeah I guess we are here now.
“I probably taste amazing”
-Charlie
Matt definitely gives off judge jury and executioner vibes😂
I’m very excited for this. I have never watched a DnD show before, I’ve just mostly played it, so this will be my first experience. So far the plot seems goofy and the characters’ dynamic fit the tone pretty well.
Hoping Seven and Stewie get more time to shine in later episodes since they didn’t get a chance to do much this first episode.
Same, I hope all the characters get more time to explore there characters.
Oooh, you should check out Viva La Dirt League's campaigns. I've been absolutely hooked & they do sketch comedy with dif scenes. And Robert Hartley's a brilliant DM.
@@drearmouse9510seconded. VLDL's dnd series is insanely good, Rob is on a whole other level
I very highly recommend anything Critical Role if you're looking for DND campaigns.
Caleb disrupts the DM and the other people too much, most of the time it feels extremely unnecessary. Besides that everyone else had great chemistry, and the story was super fun!
Great first episode, stoked to follow along
i'll show some love for caleb, his outfit is fire
This was amazing, only feedback would be to please add some ambient music. Like futuristic bar sounds, combat music etc.
I really enjoyed Seven and Valar! Fun characters
Valar did barley anything
@@m-kh3ild734 his back story seemed cool. I’m hopeful that he will have more opportunities to “do something” in future episodes
Amazing first session!, love the characters!
Rewatching from the beginning again, only watched one episode of commander I'm here for the goofy DnD baby.
i REALLY love the party chemistry
Its so funny that not only did he forget the name of the show but he also said the slogan of a different dnd show lmao
The guy eight he hat causes me great anxiety
So stoked to finally watch this. Caleb and Charlie are my draws, but from what I've seen everyone has made awesome characters and are going to slay, can't wait for my new addiction 💜
Hemp and Shark are genuinely some of the most entertaining characters I’ve seen.
i’ve never once in my life played or watched DD but im so curious how everything plays out, this seems so fun
1:00:54 Bro, when he says he isn't telling anybody else shit I laughed so hard.
Based Owlbear Rodeo. I've been using it for some Pathfinder 2e games and it's a nice light VTT for gaming as long as you have another place for character sheets.
Charlie using Spelljammer stats is a seriously deep cut
I still think Cow Chop's Class of 198X is by far the funniest DND show to exist, still have yet to find one to top those two seasons.
That was a DND show? I'll have to check it out
Seven and hugh are just such cool concepts as characters that I really wish they had more time to shine and everything didnt have to be about mr main character.
I want this to succeed, this looks like a ton of fun.
All I see are comments about how Caleb is being that guy 😂😂 I hope he saw these before other episodes
18:39 Wasn’t expecting that
But uh
You know
Slay
Dude in the pirate had was so annoying… he’s gotta chill out…
dear Caleb,
chill out. we love you but.. chill out.
