Just use an extra charging cable, tear/cut shield off the usb end to expose the 4 connection points. Use the two outer points to connect your leads to. This way you can test the battery under load, and without opening up your phone.
Thank you for this. Two more questions for you. 1. My battery registers 2.8 (the battery is rated at 3.85). In my experience that still means not good. True? 2. I tested the battery charger leads in the battery bay while the phone was plugged in to the wall. It registered 0.01 to 0.03. The phone is still good? (at least the charging leads)
YOU are my kind of technician! Everything I search online about an iPhone not turning on returns stupid results like "Did you try turning it on?!" You get to the technical side! My iPhone got wet a few months back, and the battery died. I just measured it and confirmed the battery was dead, and the phone could still be alive.
Dude this guy has no fucking idea, he cant even test the batteries, tont take advice from this jerk...and you dont measure baterry like that you put it on the load and measure before and after resistance...
Be aware: If you measure on the contact points on the flexwirem you will only get a reading, if the battery protection circuit is still allowing current to flow. I came across a damaged phone (water spill) which I have cleaned and repaired. It did turn out that the battery protection circuit has cut off the battery due to excessive drain when the shortcut due to the spill happened. Thus the battery was in a deepleted state (2.5V cell voltage) but not yet damaged (
Listen brooooo… my phone came in water and my battery shows 2.56 volts…it’s a 3.85 volts Motorola battery. You think the battery is dead? How can I charge the battery?
Thanks for for the video. Is 3.46V enough to power an Iphone 6 motherboard ? (Since it should deliver around 3.82V) I'm trying to figure out if my motherboard is fried or if the battery do not deliver enough voltage.
I guess it's the motherboard. The battery was new. I also checked the voltage from the FPC connector while putting the lightning cable and it delivered the right tension which means, I guess, the battery still charge but the phone don't boot. Anyway many thanks for taking the time to answer my questions ! :-)
My iphone 6 battery measured 4.28V both plugged in & unplugged. The phone was dead black so I wonder whether the battery is the problem or something else. I couldn't find any info at all about over voltage battery. Your experience?
you should have the voltage that you read in your battery. if you have a lot more, it can fry the card or if you can too little it won't turn on at all. i don't know your situation, but it could be that the motherboard is dead. (you can try to repair it if you follow some schematic)
This video really doesn't tell anything correct and precise, you can't say that the battery is good because multimeter shows 3,86v! You published only part of information, which is not sufficient to conclude anything about the health of a battery! Of course the only right thing is that with 0v you can conclude that the battery is dead, if the connection is ok but again you didn't talk about that.
This is way too complicated for me. I'll never understand all this complex electronical stuff. And that diagram?!? I'm like, totally lost man. Props to you Dude! You da Boss! EDIT: PS Nice meter too!
Battery can have voltage, and still be useless. If it is discharged it will have large internal resistance. You hook up to the voltometer which takes almost zero current, no problem where. However, if you try to hook it up to the phone, it may still not work, because phone is much much bigger load than voltometer.
hey. I measured my phone battery and it reads 3.6V. When I connect the phone its in the DFU mode and reboots automatically after 5-10 minutes. When I restore the iphone it gives me a 4013 error. I did disconnect the camera flex cable and disconnected the display and tried but the phone reboots during the update and gives me the 4013 error. Some people say I need to reball the NAND chip which I not done yet. Do you think 3.6V is good enough? Does it sound like a battery issue to you?
I'm trying to get a Mitsubishi g 310 cell phone re-serviced; it's REALLY hard, it seems to get replacement parts. I've had to resort to taking my old phone to a service center. I don't even want to think how expensive 1 trip will be. A replacement battery, alone retails for $20. And the plug port, to plug in the wall adaptor? It's broken. A cheap $0.25 part killed my phone!
Oh but anyways i found my battery is not working because there was current 3.8 in the chariging port but not in the battery thanks for ur .it helped me
what is the aim of this video? when the battery is discharged, the multimeter marks 0V and when it 3.8V that means its charged...then so ??? what is fact that i know that my battery is dead (then i have to replace it) or if it is simply just discharged ?
in can be both it could be dead or that I need to be charged, but if the battery has been with zero charge for long period of time it is a dead battery, that is why when you buy new batteries they are about %70
When I check the voltage on my iPhone 6 Plus battery it shows zero volts and when I give it poost it gos back to 3.8 volt but when I connect it to the phone it goes back to zero volts. Do I need to replace it ?
That means that your battery is gone (it's just showing a static voltage which gives no power) volts is the reading amps is the power. Your battery hasn't the amps left in it basically.
At 0:17 you say "intherior" (rhymes with inferior) when what I think you meant to say was: "in theory". My question is: Do you review your videos before posting them to RUclips? Any advice will be well received since I am starting my own RUclips channel and I want to get it right, right from the beginning. Thanks.
so sorry may I ask, how do I know my phone battery has DEAD CELL? because I bought oe Zerolemon battery and i actually keep it in my room for 9 months in seal brand new.. I am worry and I don't know if my this new battery has for dead cells?
Dude, appreciate the overview but you spent about 30-40% of the video to talk tangents instead of getting to the point. In my opinion, begin with a quick quick overview maybe 10 seconds long like "I'm going to show you how to measure voltage from your phones battery using a multimeter".... and then right away show the tutorial. Afterwards, you could use "examples" and other tangents (like when you referred to the suction cups, etc). That way you give people the option of sitting through the video or liking and moving on instead of forcing people to sit through 4 minutes and 45 seconds before you get to the tutorial for a video that is 7 minutes long.
that is why i watch videos i dont watch them in 1x it makes no sense, go to the gear and select 2x and you can watch the video in half of the time in a computer you can do it for free if you have a cellphone you have to pay YT RED BTW my videos are more classes than just a quick HOW TO
(2:33) - I'm sorry but 3.82 is not the same as 3.8. It is different. 3.82 is the same as 3.80. That's what I learned at school anyway. So if 3.8 + 3.80, how can 3.80 = 3.82? It can't. There is a point zero two (0.2) difference. My point here is that when you are teaching on RUclips, you have to allow for those who know very little. You have to be very careful with the language you use. *_I_* would have said: "3.8 is good enough. It is simply 3.82, which is accurate to two decimal places, rounded to one decimal place. In this case we round downwards since the second decimal place is less than five" Considering the length of your video, you could have easily found room to fit in this little piece of precision. Passing on knowledge is more art than science. You should remember that.
You teach him! Wtf? Your point is no point! 0.2v is so important. I guess as soon as voltage drops from 3.82v to 3.80v the iphone is dead. Hmmm....good to know! Please don't start posting videos on youtube.
Here the point is to check if the battery is loaded or not. But even that is done badly. In generally battery will measure almost 3.8 no matter what the charge is. One should measure battery when attached to a device.
This video does not tell you nothing. He don’t understand how voltage and current works. You got to put a battery on load to see if it is good or bad and need to Measure voltage and current. Does not have a clue. You can have a good voltage and think it’s fine but if the current is no good then it’s not fine. They talk about voltage but it’s not voltage that drives stuff it’s current. Like I said does not have a clue at all. Maybe he should learn ohms law and voltage vs current because he knows nothing.
Stfu. This is the first thing you do when checking a battery. Measure the voltage and then the curent. If the voltage shows 0 the battery is dead. If it is less than 3v the battery don't hold the charge and is better replacing it. What the fok is wrong with you all....curent....curent....curent....FIRST YOU MEASURE THE VOLTAGE. If you know better show us and stop attacking someone who actualy does something.
Just use an extra charging cable, tear/cut shield off the usb end to expose the 4 connection points. Use the two outer points to connect your leads to. This way you can test the battery under load, and without opening up your phone.

Do you have any videos on how to check a water damaged iphone's logic board with the multimeter for faulty parts?
not yet ;-)
Thanks for for the video. Is 3.46V enough to power an Iphone 6 motherboard ? (Since it should deliver around 3.82V)
I'm trying to figure out if my motherboard is fried or if the battery do not deliver enough voltage.
charge the battery in other phone 100% then plug it in, in the bad phone and take your conclusions.
search for water damage or some other issue
I guess it's the motherboard. The battery was new. I also checked the voltage from the FPC connector while putting the lightning cable and it delivered the right tension which means, I guess, the battery still charge but the phone don't boot.

How, you just put the wires at the connection point and the meter will gives you the reading
What is the point of checking the battery when not UNDER LOAD?
too see if it is dead or not.
meaning if it has charge
Battery can have voltage, and still be useless. If it is discharged it will have large internal resistance. You hook up to the voltometer which takes almost zero current, no problem where. However, if you try to hook it up to the phone, it may still not work, because phone is much much bigger load than voltometer.
Exactly. Got to always measure under load.
Hi guys, how do you check the battery under load??
Search for a battery load tester.
If battery is bad it will not draw a y amperage?
Thanks man! Your video helped me so much!
I am glad
hello I have checked my battery is full 4.6v but phone just power on for few second . what could it be? please
What of the link to buying the phone opener
amzn.to/33fryrG
hi is this the same process to and ipad battery connector whay voltage should i get
+kyle mcmahon it should
To conduct the test must the phone be charged or can be determined even if battery is flat?
if the battery is dead it wont charge anything.
see if the battery is not swollen
hey. I measured my phone battery and it reads 3.6V. When I connect the phone its in the DFU mode and reboots automatically after 5-10 minutes. When I restore the iphone it gives me a 4013 error.

3.6 should be enough, you can buy like this amzn.to/2qUcz1v so you use the voltage you need without worrying about the battery
Is there a way to test the plug in charging port on the phone to see if it's working?
put that port in a working phone and test it
how many volts does the original battery holds?
watch the whole video I explain that
Is over 600 cicles bad, I was thinking to sell my old one
what's is bad or pathetic is that you are so freaking lazy. The guy takes his time to teach us, oh it's pointless.
My ipad battery have 2.65v instead of 3.86v. Ipad does not turn on. Is the batt. dead? or not turning on because of some other reason?
if you don't have the right voltage it wont turn on.
try to charge it or get a new one and test it and let me know
GabakUSA Free computer training my new battery just came today and it worked fine.

Why is this the only video I can find when I try to check cell phone batt. with multimeter
because nobody else care about this
good day, what if my multimeter doesn't have that v symbol, where else should i set it, have a blessed day, thanks
if you dont have that simbol it might means that your multimeter cant measure that.
get one they are very cheap ;-)
i think i left a link in the URL
+GabakUSA Free computer training allright thanks
How could it be that a multimeter does not measure Voltage? Perhaps he has an ammmeter? Any multimeter has option to meaaure voltage.
Fantastic video, thanks 🙏
Glad you enjoyed it!
Good video. Greetings from México.
I am glad that you liked it, more videos are coming out.
Can I recharge the dead battery or battery that has less voltage than the maximum
you can try but it if was dead for long time surely it won't survive
So basically if the battery doesnt work it should not put 3.81v?
you can try to charge it
otherwise buy a new one if you are questioning if the battery is good or not
they are very economical
amzn.to/4fVbLC0
yeah this helpful...thanks
no problem
Thanks, the video help me, best of wishes.
I am glad
How to check iphone 4 sir?
thank you
Genesis Briones it should be similar
Oh but anyways i found my battery is not working because there was current 3.8 in the chariging port but not in the battery thanks for ur .it helped me
????
lol why is there a battery connector shield sandwiched in that 5c screen? How did that even happen??
I checked my battery and it's at 3.2 V on the phone it says it's at 1% and won't charge is that a bad batter?
3.2v is to low, battery is dead get a replacement
can you make more videos. related to cellphone repair Inglis or Spanish
+Luis De Paz i have a lot videos about cellphone repair in my other channel GABAKTECH
it is in spanish
You have no idea if you really want to test a battery it has to be under load.
Great repairer wow man!
thank you very much i didnt know that
you are welcome
my battery 3.8v and is showing 3v correct or wrong
a close up would have been useful to show where to touch the probes to
I did
try to use a big screen
Fantastic! Thanks for sharing your knowledge! 🎸🎶🏄🪂

How to identify mi max2 battery is working or not
what is the voltage ?
Base - minus?! And little copper contacts + plus?!
so sorry may I ask, how do I know my phone battery has DEAD CELL? because I bought oe Zerolemon battery and i actually keep it in my room for 9 months in seal brand new.. I am worry and I don't know if my this new battery has for dead cells?
if one of the cell has die , replace the whole battery ;-)
What will happen if we replace iPhones battery with 4v 2ah battery
mine says 4.25V. is that bad or good?
what did I say in the video about voltage? did you watch it all?
interesting.thx.
+servicii tel thanks
thanks mate I got iphone 4 or 4s battery it says 3.7 on it and test with my multimedia and comes up with 3.8 is that ok
you are welcome ;-)
if you have 0.1 volt more, it is not biggie
I new to this so that mean it's not good just brought my multimedia today carnt work it out how can I send you a picture
go to my site gabakusa.com and publish it in the forum so i can see it
message you on Facebook
