My family has a 2019 Armada Platinum and our neighbor has a 2022 QX80 Sensory.. pretty much the same vehicle except the Infiniti's more plush. Only issue with me is that the neighbor's QX was nearly three times as much money as we paid!
Both cars are originally based on the Nissan Patrol Y62 series. Infinity first introduced it to the U.S market as the 2011 QX56 then when they switched badges renamed it the QX80. For the north American market, the Patrol is pretty much ed renamed to Armada in 2016 , other than that the car is pretty much the same as the global market patrol. One key difference is that the U.S market armada comes with a v8 where the Patrol uses both the v6 and v8.
Man thanks for the info! I’m not mad at that. It is a large suv with more traditional leanings. No turbo v6 or tt4 cyl w/tech galore, but it will last living more trouble free imo.
I own a 2017 QX80 AWD and I love it. The trim levels on Infiniti are better and the body is sleeker and sexier. Compared to other luxury SUV’s in its class it’s more affordable.
Not a mistake. 2 things can be true. It’s a Flex and Elegant!!! 😂 I just bought a used 2020 QX80 last week over the Armada, Navigator, and Yukon Denali.
From what I understand. The infinity has real wood trim. That infinity has heated and cooled seats. Also I believe the infinity has the hydraulic suspension which makes it ride smoother.
I could see all of those things. I know Nissan is just rebadging and at the same time the wood “fill in the blank” looks similar and I know many Armadas have heated seats. Cooled are an option on the Infinitis I think. Older Armadas are much less similar. Both good options.
Yes and I don’t get that . The QX80 has slightly more power but that could just do like the rest of their engines and make max power available with premium in the tank.
To me they're the same vehicle. They're both Nissan's, despite the nomenclature on the exterior. I prefer the Armada. The V8 engine is awesome. The Infiniti's front end looks like a Beluga whale head to me 🤣. I'll be in the market for an Armada soon. Edit: This is mentioned above, the Armada is the rebadged Patrol from the global market, it's a shame we can't get the Cummins V8 in this beast!
Every brand does the same thing. Gm has the Escalade, taho, suburban and Yukon. They also have the GMC Acadia, Buick Enclave and Chevy Traverse. All brands share looks and parts across brands.
Very true. I do think domestic manufacturers are much more conspicuous with their implementations and Nissan veiled this one a bit better than most. Honestly no manufacturer could survive without sharing platforms/parts and it helps (or should) create better quality when there is less to focus on. For ex. The VW 1.8t should be the most bullet proof engine ever made. It’s been around 500 years on 5 diff continents.
Are the side mirrors the same? Asking because I own a Infiniti and want to know if I can get away with ordering an armada mirror to save a few bucks lol
Man I really don’t know. They look very similar, but it’s hard to say. A lot of times manufactures will hide that fact when they have brands and sub brands.
At least you admit your mistakes, keep on making the good videos! I happened to come across this as I was doing research for an SUV that can haul boat and family with. I’m seriously considering the Infiniti lol
Thanks for the comparison as I’m in the market for a replacement full size SUV. My daughter “totaled” our 2004 Nissan Armada that we’ve lovingly owned for 12+ years and I was planning to keep it for at least 5 more years; but she forced my hand to look for another vehicle earlier than expected 😕 Still deciding between another Armada, QX80, Yukon Denali, or Escalade 🤔
I’m glad it was helpful! Man wow that is a tough spot and decision to make. I thank all those large suvs are good options. GM started the category and is a strong contender. Good luck!
Outside of those extremes do you think there’s enough crossover to cross shop? To me it seems there is even though they convey much different messages going down the road.
Point blank Nissan owns Infiniti so yes they’re similar! No different than a Tahoe and a Escalade same car ones just more luxury. Literally. They’ve favored designs since they both came out in 2004. When the armada was still the “armada pathfinder” and the Infiniti was “qx56” they’re both build to last parts are just clearly going to be more pricey on the Infiniti
I just bought a 2012 QX56 and I found out that they may look alike but 😢 that’s it. I took it to Nissan to get it looked at and they said take it to an Infiniti dealership. The armada is made in the US while the QX56 is made in Japan. Way different engines and in 2012 the armada only produces 317 horses compared to the 400 that the QX56 has.
I just test drove a 2017 Platinum Armada today and lemme tell you, it's nice on the highway, but that engine is LOUD!! Not only that, the freaking doors sounded cheap and hollow- as if they needed dynomat or something and the radio tuner made a weird noise as I turned the dial trying to find a radio station (for a song to test that Bose system). I didn't have time to get over to the other dealership to drive the QX80 today and I was hoping to hear something about the sound of the engine vs the Armada. But I could definitely hear the difference in the doors when they were closed. The Infiniti definitely sounded better. IDK if it was that particular Armada or what but I'm hoping for a better experience from Infiniti.
I thinks Infiniti’s sound deadening and door weight has always been better. I’ve rode in decent Armada that didn’t feel or sound cheap. That Armada may have been a bad apple. Good luck in your search! You should post a vid when you lock down what u lookin’ for.
It's the same truck different grill lol they both look good in their respective years and the other models both look dated LOL interior on both looks dated and boring
I can see that. I tend to like less curvy and techy vehicles as they age more gracefully while maximizing use of space to me. Twin turbo 4s and turbo v6s loaded w/tech are sexy as long at the warranty supports your wallet.
To make it short, no matter how much chrome, real wood, tv screens etc, you put inside of an Armada at the end of the day is still a Nissan, a QX80 well it's an Infinity
Plastic control solenoid Valve on flimsy connector with rubber washer charcoal box is a bomb the way it's position next to gas tank gas ran all Over the ground at the gas pump. Fuel pump seal wears out letting gas escape from tank literally driving a bomb if your electronics take a dump you will never No😳
The interior is really bad on both. My 2009 G37 has the same infotainment screen, door handles, turn indicators and buttons. The plastic wood trim looks absolutely terrible. I want an Armada for it's size and 4x4 system but it leaves so much to be desired.
The interior was dope at one time and gel over too long as you said. They did update it for 2023 and it looks good. You might give it three years or so for some heavy depreciation to come off of it.
Nissan is cool to me. I wish they didnt use cvt’s and think if you can jump up to an Infiniti it’s worth it. The new Armada upper trims are dope and I wouldn’t any type of way over the Infiniti. You won’t get the street cred, but who cares.
Nissan armada is better,Infiniti QX56 Qx80 Are Shit Faulty electronics aftermarket cheap garbage engine is the only thing thats good,I have no speedometer no gas gadge no display I have to guess my compressor off heat on in winter all electronics plastic garbage cosmetic disaster radiator Shit put a full aluminum one in, tailgate sensor screw that🤣Buy a Nissan armada if you plan on keeping the truck 5 year's
Yikes I’m sorry to here that! Man you have been through it 😬. Yeah I not a bit fan of a ton of electronics. It’s pretty inescapable these days, but sounds like your onto something with choosing the Armada.

Yeah the Platinum Armada is pretty compatible and if you get service at the dealer it’ll much cheaper than taking the QX to the Infiniti dealership.
3 times? The armada platinum is 75k So the qx 80 cost 200k plus?
@@jimmyp7082 i was gonna say the same, unless he compared the second market value of a 2018 armada, to a brand new drive away price of a qx80

True story
Infinity to Nissan it’s like Lexus to Toyota that’s all. 🙌🏾
I own a 2017 QX80 AWD and I love it. The trim levels on Infiniti are better and the body is sleeker and sexier. Compared to other luxury SUV’s in its class it’s more affordable.
Excellent…I was actually comparing these two for purchase!
Not a mistake.

Armada also had heated/cooled seats. but yeah if you’re gonna get the Qx80, go fully loaded just to get the hydraulic body motion control system.
@@JokerG16 I wonder if it's as good as it sounds
@@fireresq3226 same. i’m sure it helps with body roll tho. i have an Armada and it’s a great ride, but the body roll is evident sometimes
@@JokerG16 Yes! From what I hear that body motion control system is excellent.

Is it true that the QX80 requires Premium gas, but the Armada uses Regular?
Yes and I don’t get that . The QX80 has slightly more power but that could just do like the rest of their engines and make max power available with premium in the tank.

I feel the exact same way about the front end look, you are right about Beluga whale 😁. Thats a turn off to me.
I like the Armada, the Q80 looks like a happy hippo
I kinda see that too, but the Armada front end looks a funky too imo.
Why does the newer Infiniti QX80 look much taller than the older Gen? Is it because of the tires?
Probably…those 20” plus wheels give it some lift.

OK you made everything clear; I think I,m going with the qx80
Great choice!
Thanks a Mill for this Video!!!
If you compare the 2020 years I think there's going to be more of a difference. Then even after sinceboth sort of overhauled the interiors
