Fun fact:
the voice work in the porch cutscene is so crisp (it's the original audio), because the guy working on the audio for this remaster had aquired an old promo disc for Turok 3, on which there was this audio sample in high quality. Unfortunately this was the only one.

I like how Josh kind of became obsessed with being Turok and NEVER stopped dressing like a Native American Rambo.
Joshua is Native American, so it makes sense. Turok is a mantle to uphold.
As a native american, this is how we typically dress.
Rambo is Native American, Part 2 told us his mother was Navajo.
There was a very short lived run of Turok comics by Cuck Wendig, in which Turok was of course black and with dreads, and he killed Nazi dinosaurs. No, seriously. This was one of like 5 reboots of Turok comics in the past 15 years.

Turok deserves a new next gen game, even if it's a remake of the first game. So many old games from the 80's and 90's are getting revived, so many of them from the N64/PS1/WindowsXP era and so many classic games are getting ported and remade like it's the end of the world (it may be).
These games were a staple of my childhood and even though I sucked at Turok and never moved past the first level, the multiplayer was fun and I will always love those old black carts for the N64. Now that the Switch's default cart color is black though...
I think it would be cool if they involved an actual Native American tribe in the writing process too. You don't actually get a lot of Indigenous characters in video games.
I'd actually want Nightdive to make a N64 style Turok 4 which finally will follow up on that cliffhanger.
Take it up with disney, maybe you can buy the IP from them after turok 2008

I love all these Nightdive remasters. So far Quake II has been my favorite, but i've always loved Turok 3, and can't wait to play this.

I hope this one is less painful than Turok 2.
The only issue with this game is how short it is. I am sure that, given some extra time, the levels could have been fleshed out more, maybe the part about the return and exploration of the Lost Lands would have been extended, and the story could have continued in a Turok 4 where we'd see Adon going against the Council of Voices and then see Joshua return, maybe with some unforseeable dangers because only one person can have the mantle of Turok at the time. How I wish a group of talented indie devs would take this game, expand its levels, and then attempt a fourth chapter that concludes the brewing conflict between the Fireseed siblings, Adon, the Council, and the returning Joshua (maybe with another villain as the real string-puller behind it all?).
Turok Evolution is so very immersive. I really want NightDive (or Aspyr, maybe) to remaster the first two Jedi Knight/Dark Forces games and Shadows of the Empire, but I would be happy to see Evolution some day too.

Turok Evolution is a bad game, but it still has moments of genuine greatness. Turok 2008 is misunderstood and actually a really solid game in its own right, and fighting dinosaurs has never been as fun in the series as it was in 2008.

Other guy is right though, 2008 is the poster child for mid 2000s generic game design. Protagonist is hard edged with a good heart. Colours are brown and dark green. FOV is 50. Characters all have names like Slade and Cowboy. The only memorable part of the game were the ridiculous knife kills, those were creative
@@hattedsandwich2415 The combat with the dinosaurs was fantastic, and made up most of the game's combat. Nobody really cares about the story in Turok games, so the characters having generic edgy names is irrelevant.
As for the FOV, Turok's FOV has always been small. Turok 1 had 65 FOV, and Turok 2 had even smaller with 47 FOV. And quite frankly, I have never been bothered by games with small FOV's, and find the people who want every game to have 120 FOV to be annoying and wish they would just disappear.

The first 2 games are also greato (they're sort of like a mostly multiplayer only team based Halo shenanigans before Halo). If anyone's interested in Tribes Vengeance, make sure you get the community un f***ed Tribes ReVengeance, as to not get SecuROM AIDS on your PC. Because the entirety of the Tribes series, minus Ascend, is being offered for free, and officially by their owners on their site, and vanilla Tribes 3 not only has SecuRom up it's bum still, but I think one of the disc images are corrupt. Gj, Hi-Rez, the old Tribes devs are speening in their graves right now. Or at least their office chairs.

This remaster looks good, and took more work in some areas than 1 and 2, because N64 exclusive, but I just beat Turok 3 for the first time 2 years ago, so I'll wait for a bit of a price drop. 30$ is a bit much (Lol 5-10$ Atari tax), even for a quality remaster. It is like a 3-6 hour long game (and with de-implemented multiplayer). You can get a whole ass System Shock remake (which I already bought), by the same devs, for 10$ more.

What sucks the most is that Kick willingly sold to Atari to get at more GT games, but I think he was putting too much faith in that gormless company
From what I've seen the work in this remaster is _very_ substantial. I feel that $30 is a fair price for what's on offer. Since they never said anything about finding the source code, I can only assume they've fully reverse-engineered the game... and they also developed mod tools that are included. This is a quality product that took years of work, and the best version we're ever going to see of Turok 3. If it weren't for other expenses I'd pay $30 in a heartbeat for this.

@@anchorlightforge Yeah I understand that it took a lot more work than T1 and T2 remasters in a lot of areas, but that 30$ price point is going to turn off a lot of newcomers, and even some series veterans. 25$ would have probably been the more ideal price point. Even just 5$ lower can make more of a difference than you think, something something consumer price point psychology.
But that's their choice if they want to make way fewer sales if it means selling each copy at a higher price. I'm more worried about mediocre sales shitcanning a Rage Wars remaster, or god forbid an eventual *actual new Turok game*. Especially now that they're with Atari. "Oh, what's that, Turok 3 didn't sell 1M copies within a year? SHITCAN THE SERIES. AGAIN."

There was actually a remaster of the whole game put into Homefront: The Revolution. I don't know if there's been any mod progress or anything that would make it standalone.
