This was helpful, thank you! I have a Hizumitas and a QC on the way.

I found that I really liked the helix pedalboard modeling into a clean tube amp. I do build and make fuzz for a living. Some take fuzz well but usually the internal fuzz modeling is a little rough. Hit me up if you want to check out some fuzz for more comparisons!

Do you have a favorite fuzz within helix? Do you like their fuzzes?

If my HX Stomp can take a Woolly Mammoth at full volume, it certainly doesn't have an issue, lol. The bright channel of my SV20 handles fuzz worse with the stock bright cap value in. Weird argument from Andertons to make, seems a bit pointless. I really liked how the Katana reacted in the low end, surprisingly much.

In general, all handled the highest gain settings quite well, my favorites on both settings were QC & Helix

Definitely the QC and Helix get the closest in terms of voicing to the actual amp. But all of them have pretty unique distortion character.

I have a capture of this fuzz and it’s not even close to what you have recorded here. I guess I need to buy the pedal!

It could just be the settings that the capture was captured with that differ, there's actually a lot of unique sounds in this thing.

I would be careful with putting a fuzz pedal into a amp with the Bright switch on, on the the amp. You can try with and without and hear the differance

The Bright Switch was on when I ran it into my Friedman's Twin style clean channel.

      @@TheGooseChaseMusicOk.
I have been messing with fuzzes into fender amps, and found out that a few of these dont like the Bright switch on. And i did need to lower the gain in the amp on some, to get the fuzz to sound good. Some amps sounded like it just did not like the fuzzes, turning the Bright switch off did help a lot.

@@ImSeeD might be specific to the Fender. Despite the Friedman Runt clean being based off a Twin, it's also somewhat darker than a Twin, so that makes sense why it would work on my Friedman and not a proper Fender.

the big muff gets called a fuzz, but it's a distortion pedal.

Hold on a sec…was that first riff a JoJo reference?

appreciate you doing this comparison. one bit of feedback is that it have been a lot more useful if you had edited the clips directly back to back so we could hear all of them vs the tube in a span of 15 seconds - i think the differences would be a lot more easy to compare. anyway well done regardless.

Sending this video to Gibson for use of the word “Authentic,” watch out Goose! 😂
