      @@zee9er one of the downsides of the Woodfire. I does not generally produce a smoke ring. But a smoke ring is just a cosmetic thing, has nothing to do with smoke penetration.

    A big Thumbs-Up for the Smokin Pecan Pettets tonight. One pellet hopper full went 3 hours, and I had to dump out the few still burning pellets into a dish of water before putting the Grill Cover on for the night. Oh by the way, the Beef Tenderloin was excellent (2.5 hours at 225 using the Temp-Spike Ambient instead of the XL's dial temperature setting which is off by 20 degrees). Raybo

      I have to test that ninja probe vs my others for sure! That is getting fast tracked! How did you like the flavor of the pecan pellets?

    • @raynewste-lx9xg
      @raynewste-lx9xg 8 месяцев назад

      I initially set the XL Temperature at 225 for 3 hours. After 30 minutes, my ThermoSpike showed the actual Ambient Temperature was steady at 245 - so I adjusted the Temp Dial down to 205 and the Ambient then stabilized at 225 actual degrees. The Pecan pellets had a smooth flavor without that heavy smoke concentration of the Ninja pellets that came with my XL. Raybo

    First of all I wanted to thank you for your excellent videos! One question, you used the smoker mode all the time right?
    And one more question. Can you tell me what condiments you used and the measurements? I'm going to cook a brisket of almost 17lb.
    Thank you so much!

      If this is your first brisket I recommend trying out a pre mixed brisket rub. I liked the one I got from Buccees actually. If not you go with a 50/50 mix of coarse salt and coarse pepper. You go for a nice light coating.

    I watched the 3 different chicken cooks and I did it. I think by far the grilled with smoke was the best. #2 was air fry and 3rd was just smoked. I used pecan shells. They are amazing. Have you tried them???

    DGT - Great Video!! Question: How many times did you refill and restart the Pellet Hopper, and what was the total duration of your cook? I am doing a 2lb Beef Tenderloin in my XL later today using your recommended Smokin Pecan pellets. Raybo

      As far as refilling the hopper I checked it every hour and topped it off. I restarted the pellets each time I topped it off. I did that for the first 6 hours while it was open to the smoke.

      I can not argue with a wood burning smoker. I am sure it produces superior results. For the person who does not have that kind of room, or patience this is a solid option though.

      Yes, I believe I mentioned I did a few refills. The pecan pellets also quite a long time so I was getting close to 3 hours per hopper. Your mileage may vary depending on what pellets you use.
