    It takes a lot of courage to be honest enough to admit you relapsed. As a recovering gambling addict myself, you are not alone in this. Keep strong. We can do this! Take care 😊

    Relapse is part of the journey....like you said some people only need 1 some people it takes 100's. Try to focus on all the positive things you have done. Keep up the good work and keep moving forward. You got this/ we got this. All of us on here will help eachother beat this together. Thank you for making these videos they are helping so much! I know they are helping me!

    This was randomly on my recommended but I stayed and watched the whole video. I have addiction issues too just not with gambling. Relapse is 100% a part of recovery and I've been there more times than I can count. One thing I try to remember is to treat myself like I would someone else. I would NEVER dream of saying to someone else 'Oh you relapsed? Well you should just give up' but I say that to myself. So many times the voice in my head has told me that relapsing puts you back to square 1 and erases any progress you've made. Now looking back I realise that was such a lie. Every time I've relapsed had taught me something to get me where I am today and avoid other relapses. Now I'm more aware of my different triggers and can better avoid situations that I now are high risk for me relapsing. I know this is a long comment but I also know how cruel we can be to ourselves during/after relapse. You are still improving, your hard work from before still counts, you're not a bad person your brain is just healing and that isn't a linear process. I just want you to have faith that you can do this - I know you can! It's a 5 step forward, 2 steps back kinda situation and that's shitty, it is, but you're still THREE steps further forward than where you started. You will get back to where you were and even surpass that point. So many people will benefit from the content you're making. Sending lots of love your way ♥️

    Hi Jacqueline, I was worried about you, I felt your silence wasn't a good sign. I am from Brazil, 47 years old and being addicted to a lot of different things since I was a teenager. I have never been able to cure it, just go back and forth and trying to supress it sometimes gets backfired and it come back even worst. What I am trying to do now is to accept it as part of my nature and turn this energy and emotions to a more healthy addictions like: work, sports, etc, setting difficult goals and chasing it for a long period of time. Not only occupied my time with other things but also spend my energy with different things. Its sounds a terrible advice but gambling is a beast.

    Here's what worked for me, I stopped counting days and thinking too much about quitting gambling. After I had a bad day where I lost $5k in one night, I decided this is it. I was broken down by the fact that I lost months worth of rent, food, groceries. This really attached feelings of misery to the idea of gambling. I then started being busy with goals that I set for myself. Assuming you have a 9-5 day job, set goals for your life that you want to achieve outside of work. For example I took up gym and martial arts, so every day after I come home i go to the gym or to train. Im also going to take up recording a song album, im going to add on taking language classes, etc. So just fill up your day with activities you think you'll enjoy and start doing that. Soon you'll be so busy that you'll even forget gambling exists. That's what happened to me. Im so busy throughout the day that I forgot about my losses, my gambling life, etc. Just my 2 cents in case it helps anyone. We're proud of you Jackie, keep up the great work and keep striving!

    • @thementalhustle
      @thementalhustle  Год назад +2

      Hey and thanks ❤️🙏 absolutely keeping busy helps, ive touched down on that in one of my previous videos. Setting up routines that are daily and easy to maintain, not over ambitious are vital in my case... But I will say this, each day im gambling free, its a celebration. And each day i can count, it registers as a reward and really helps me maintain the inward motivation ❤️❤️❤️

    Hey there, so glad to see you’re ok! You know the drill relapse is part of the process, what’s important is you learn from it 😃 something that might be helpful is take the pressure off and look at positive side rather than the negative. For example, rather than say I’m not going to gamble anymore say I choose not to gamble today. Also, connecting to your spiritual side might help too. Look up the late Dr Wayne Dyer, I find him amazing. You’re strong and you can do it, you have our full support 🙏

    Being open about your situation is helping not hindering. Professor Sandra Adell has commented on her own gambling addiction - her insight will probably be of interest to you. Also recommend presentations on RUclips by Dr. Anna Lembke. Thank you for letting me know your story.

      My pleasure! If you would like more suggestions please ask. Here's a quote from the American Psychiatric Association:
      Some people can stop gambling on their own. But many people need help to address their gambling problems. Only one in ten people with gambling disorder seek treatment.
