I don't know what would be of this game without its fantastic world-building team, honestly. The story/lore guys are very good too, but it's the landscapes what they always nail, even if the graphics and engine have been showing its age since forever. Near Harad just feels like a place you want to go out and explore.
This is the first Lotro expansion ever to not come with a level increase (to my knowledge), and no new big "selling point" like new class, system, race etc. All this might be good. Let Lotro simmer at lvl 150 and expand horizontally for a change. World building, story and quests will most likely be good. Hopefully instances too. This is much more in the non Tolkien canon areas, compared to earlier expansions, with plenty of more freedom lore wise. Let's see what SSG does with it. Let's enjoy deserts and scorpions and such, before we head back to scour the Shire.😁
War of Three Peaks & Before the Shadow were "Mini-Expansions" and discussed before hand that they would not involve a Level Cap Increase. Legacy of Morgoth is a return to "Expansions" but without key things like a Level Cap Increase, New Class, New Race, etc. alongside it. They in part wanted to go away from the "Mini-Expansion" term as it made it sound "smaller" for content.
We've had 2 expansions like this before, though they were advertised as mini expansions, so they were a little cheaper (and the last one came with a VIP discount). This is the model SSG had adopted for both its games for quite a few years now. They alternate between bigger and smaller expansions for both games (DDO got its big expansion this year).
I just started playing this game and i'm having the best time. Great story telling, cool quests, and the world is amazing. There's a lot that i still need to discover
Just started 2 weeks ago on a Legendary server, found a great kinship and will not look back. Absolutely love this game and even tough this particular expansion is a LONG ways off for the Legendary servers...I can't wait. Thank you Devs, been looking for a game to call home for a long, long time.
I am glad this game is still going on as it is a comfort place for my LOTR loving heart. My only wish is to have a gameplay and overall world graphics update for Lotro one day. If any game deserves a remake, it is Lotro.
I am really looking forward to the the weather amd if it has any mechanics. I think a weather with buffs and debuffs could be amazing, but even that aside I think it's gonna be an amazing experience with some desert for the first time! Definitely take a little break from Mordor to experience the content!
They really do need side activities though. Not just quests. Itll probably never happen though. I think they barely updated fishing after all these years so....

Back when Corsairs of Umbar wasn't yet announced I really hoped we'd go to Rhûn next. Now I've got to say, while I still really want to see Rhûn and wth is going on there, Umbar and its story was so much fun that I'm really looking forward to continuing the story. The landscapes in the casual strolls looked great. Since apparently the instances will be available at launch this time, I hope they'll be integrated into the stories as neatly as they were back with Minas Morgul. I'm not too much into instances, but finishing a story arc with one was fun and missing a bit with Umbar.
@@VoiceoftheRings That makes sense yea. When people refer to 4k support I think they're usually referring to the UI as it simply doesn't scale up to 2k or 4k resolutions. It's good for screenshots when you hide the UI though.
I'm a lotro founder and left when they closed Elendilmir. I've been back a few times since but although I love the lore, the story, the scenery... This teaser isn't enough to start the thirst again.
64-bit Servers are being handled by Angmar & Mordor right now and they are using them to get the 64-bit Servers in better shape. Eventually they'll start rolling out 64-bit Servers to the Main Servers. No ETA on when. UI Work is happening but there is no ETA on when UI Updates will begin rolling out. "LOTRO Remastered" is still Ongoing however it's an SSG LOTRO Team only project and has become "Long Term". Whenever something is "ready to go" they'll add it to the game rather than wait to get multiple things for a "Large" Update.
Best MMORPG ever you can play the whole game for free. Even buy the expansion free just by playing the game and doing Deeds. Amazing story to get hooked on and no better in game Community
Love this game. But regarding this expansion: Only 4 new zones, no new races or classes, no new mechanics or character abilities (of which I'm aware, anyway), same lvl cap, same number of LI slots - This looks like a quest pack being sold at expansion prices.
They've always done updates to their engine but it's not a New Engine. Visually LOTRO has always been using an ever shifting Art Style and what is seen in Legacy of Morgoth is the "Latest Visuals" one can see for LOTRO's Art Style.
I love this game, and i sometimes do come back for nostalgia. Only thing i find it hard to stand is the tab target. If they could ever remoce this with more roaming mobs instead of standing ones it would be a real game changer! ❤

Trailer doesn't tell us HOW MANY instances we get, nor what sizes we can play them. Are some of those 350 quests delving quests? Are the 350 quests all level cap quests or is it an alternative leveling track to skip King's Gondor on the road to 150? The trailer doesn't have much in the way of details. Just "Fall.... *"
I have never played this game (blame World of Warcraft) I have just installed it and looking forward to step inside Middle-Earth for the first time. It does feel like starting a journey towards Mount Doom though with all of its content over the years.
AT some point we will run out of new regions to explore so it would be awesome to explore the middle earth at different timeframes so we could live the 2nd and 3rd ages entirely and witness the forging of the rings, the fall of eregion numenor and moria, the witch king wars and the fall of arnor and follow the journey of bilbo baggins to the lonely mountain, and finally the war of the ring.
Graphics will never be "upgraded" to the modern year. They are using an Art Style which they are always working on and Legacy of Morgoth will show off the latest Visual Art Style for such.
I have a question, if I pay for a subscription, do I still get completely overwhelmed by junk items and ''gifts'' everytime I log in to play? Nothing breaks immersion faster. Well, maybe a regendered Gimly...
@@greteh92 that is misinformation. you only need to buy the latest xpac. Previous are free on subs or even f2p I think. Dont remember where the latest free expac end. Game would not survive if u need to buy every xpac separately.

UI Work is in progress and has no ETA for when UI Updates when begin rolling out as of October 4th, 2024. Quality of Life is a different topic and this depends on what someone is talking about. Back in April 2022 we had a large amount of Quality of Life Updates and since we've had X amount of Quality of Life since then. Various other Projects are already "Ongoing" and just a matter of when they'll be rolled out although there is a limited amount of what will occur in 2024.
I've been playing lotro on my steamdeck for the past weeks since my laptop went bust and it's ok. Got some troubles mapping my mmo mouse buttons but the rest is fine.
A new update is always good, but it's even better to see progress on UI and crafting updates, moving servers to 64-bit. These are major issues in 2024 not to mention the graphics.
UI Work is happening but there is no ETA for UI Updates to begin rolling out as of October 2024. Crafting Updates have occurred and more is planned for 2025 & beyond. Moving Servers to 64-bit is the goal however they want to get their 64-bit Servers working good before they begin that process. No ETA on 64-bit Servers for the 10 Main LOTRO Servers as of October 2024.
Probably November but right now it's set to "Fall 2024" so this means anytime in October (not likely), November (most likely), and December (not likely).

Black Numenoreans for the lore were akin to their Dunedain counterparts: they saw a large decrease in their population ever since the Last Alliance's victory over Sauron in the waning days of the Second Age. Long before the War of the Ring they pretty much were absorbed into other cultures, such as in Umbar, and are no longer a "proper race" onto themselves by the War of the Ring. There is no New Race going to be apart of the Legacy of Morgoth Expansion. This Expansion is just a continutation of the Level 150 Content Cycle. No New Race, Class, Level Cap, etc. going to be apart of such.

The word "Utumno" is in the LOTRs and spoken by Gandalf to Durin's Bane however it's not likely they'll ever have it available. It's supposed to be in a the "Far North" and was destroyed before even the First Age of Middle-earth.

They also talked about for years how they wanted to have a New Legendary Item System and finally had a new one. That's one thing to double check on for any topic: Were they TALKING about wanting to do something or were they discussing how they are working on it? Many topics fall into the "Want" versus "Are".

I couldn't provide any details but it likely wouldn't be cheap to hire 1 or more Spanish Speakers to do Translations, etc. and keep them fully staffed. Also they'd "have" to be on staff, they aren't going to use Community Support for such. LOTRO especially in October 2024 has more than 10,000 Quests and likely millions of words that would need translated. That's not including Future Content and any "Official Announcements" that would require a Translation being available.

@@roberbonastre3380 Keep in mind that this LOTR MMORPG (LOTRO) originates from a 1998 License. X amount of things occurred that didn't have a LOTR MMO launch closer to 1998. It was in 2005 when Turbine took over and 2007 when the game launched. They've supported French & German from the start is the key difference compared to bringing a New Language onboard.
I came to the game again with a big pleasure. Walked through all old location, Mordor e.t.c. And there I feel LOTRO "soul". Here - I see only average copy of conan exile. Sadly but it's not LOTRO zones for me. 80-10-10 doesn't work anymore. You have player base, fans who will spend money here but give us engine update, UI, graphic - at least something of that.

Camels is something they have discussed & want to wait until they are "properly" within a Region(s) that are suitable for such creatures. This would be proper deserts so further into Harad & other locations within Middle-earth which might have those.
So this is a game that has supposedly been updated over time (it's an online game that is being regularly patched after all) but cannot be run DECENTLY at a minimum no matter what your PC specs are. The UI has never been revised in 17 years and playing at higher than 2k resolution is impossible. Also, no one likes to be told about buying 1000's of different crap from the CASH SHOP within every single game interface, including the character panels and all loading screens - It's tacky, cheap and unappealing ( quite similar to mobile games). I sincerely hope for another LOTR online game as I deeply love the IP, too bad the company running the current LOTRO are a greedy bunch with little care or knowledge for actual code optimization, and no, I don't buy the cost-benefit bullshit (they still release all these bloatware expansions regularly). There will however always be people who purposely choose to see matters through rose tinted glasses and talk as if everything is great. I get as little as 30 fps at times and the game stutters and lags like there's no tomorrow on my rig which is quite high end (5ghz 16-core cpu, 32gb ram and rtx 3090ti), it's actually quite horrible no matter how you choose to put it.
I completely agree with you, on a powerful computer I can't even set the settings above "High", this leads to 40-60 frames. With 32 RAM, a modern graphics card and processor.
Upgrade all servers to 64 bit, not just the new servers for VIP only. That is the best upgrade or addition LOTRO can possibly get. Do that before releasing this new Xpac which is really Mordor reskinned, now under the sun.
The goal is to have all Servers be 64-bit but they've not publicly given a timeline for such. Most likely going to be a 2025 & possibly beyond that Project to see fully finished.
Thank goodness there's no level increase this time!!! I had managed to level 18 characters to level 120 when they increased the level to 130. I managed to level up 6 characters to 130 when they increased the level to 140. I just managed to level 1 character to 140 when they raised it to 150. It's exhausting and takes the fun out of the game (for me)! I only RP so I don't level up all my 40 characters to max level to do raids/dungeons, but some of them must be able to get ore/wood/leather etc for professions. I love Lotro and I have played it since it was released and I will continue to play it for as long as I can (but please, no more level increases for a while!). 🥰

UI Work is in progress and has no ETA for when UI Updates when begin rolling out as of October 4th, 2024.
Quality of Life is a different topic and this depends on what someone is talking about. Back in April 2022 we had a large amount of Quality of Life Updates and since we've had X amount of Quality of Life since then.
Various other Projects are already "Ongoing" and just a matter of when they'll be rolled out although there is a limited amount of what will occur in 2024.
Is steam deck support possible or too hard ? Game looks amazing i do actually love the graphics
I've been playing lotro on my steamdeck for the past weeks since my laptop went bust and it's ok. Got some troubles mapping my mmo mouse buttons but the rest is fine.
I think I still have a char lv 60 or 70... aah lets just start all over again

A new update is always good, but it's even better to see progress on UI and crafting updates, moving servers to 64-bit. These are major issues in 2024 not to mention the graphics.

Moving Servers to 64-bit is the goal however they want to get their 64-bit Servers working good before they begin that process. No ETA on 64-bit Servers for the 10 Main LOTRO Servers as of October 2024.

It really deserves a bit of graphic update to me to fully appreciate It. Don't get me wrong, it's still so very enjoyable as It is, still some more graphic improvement would do just good! I'm perfectly aware it's a gigantic task to fulfill

I thought I was going to see many black Numenoreans in Umbar according to lore. At least with this new expansion you could bring new race Dunedain?
Black Numenoreans for the lore were akin to their Dunedain counterparts: they saw a large decrease in their population ever since the Last Alliance's victory over Sauron in the waning days of the Second Age. Long before the War of the Ring they pretty much were absorbed into other cultures, such as in Umbar, and are no longer a "proper race" onto themselves by the War of the Ring.
There is no New Race going to be apart of the Legacy of Morgoth Expansion. This Expansion is just a continutation of the Level 150 Content Cycle. No New Race, Class, Level Cap, etc. going to be apart of such.

I was in the Bete and played it. Between 2016 and 2022 I didnt play it. Since 2022 I am back, and I ever come back, because it's a very great game and I love my characters ❤

When can we explore Utumno?
I don't think they have the rights to that. I think they can only use LotR and the appendices. That's why Ost-In-Edhil is called Mirobel for instance.
The word "Utumno" is in the LOTRs and spoken by Gandalf to Durin's Bane however it's not likely they'll ever have it available. It's supposed to be in a the "Far North" and was destroyed before even the First Age of Middle-earth.
@@harvain731 I mean he calls it Udun, but yes - he refers to it. So technically possible I guess. Though I think forodwaith (possibly?) as a region is quite unlikely. I'd rather they go to Nurnen or a "king's Arnor"/Scourging of the shire.

Today I learned this game still exists... I had it from day one, but those early days were pretty rough and bland. Also, me being the leader of a well established guild in Dark Age of Camelot didn't help with me sticking with it. Oh well...

@@vedadtr3509 They've discussed how they'd "Like to work on the UI" they've only actually been working on LOTRO's User Interface far more recently and with 2024 have the most discussion on such.
They also talked about for years how they wanted to have a New Legendary Item System and finally had a new one.
That's one thing to double check on for any topic: Were they TALKING about wanting to do something or were they discussing how they are working on it? Many topics fall into the "Want" versus "Are".

Other "Official Languages" probably is not going to be happening. They only Support English, French, and German right now (October 2024).
@@harvain731 Lol I can't understand how the game has a translation into German and in the year 2024 it still doesn't have a translation in Spanish when it is the second most spoken language in the world, it's surreal.
@@roberbonastre3380 Mostly it boils down to that English, French, and German was supported by Turbine and Standing Stone Games likely kept those people, or got new people, to still support such.
I couldn't provide any details but it likely wouldn't be cheap to hire 1 or more Spanish Speakers to do Translations, etc. and keep them fully staffed. Also they'd "have" to be on staff, they aren't going to use Community Support for such.
LOTRO especially in October 2024 has more than 10,000 Quests and likely millions of words that would need translated.
That's not including Future Content and any "Official Announcements" that would require a Translation being available.
@@harvain731 If I understand that, perhaps now it would be a great cost for them, although I understand that it is not "that expensive" to translate a game, plus many people in the world do not play it because it is not in Spanish, if they translated it I think it would benefit them, In any case, I don't understand how from the beginning turbine did not include the translation plans for the game in Spanish but instead, it does in German hahahaha
@@roberbonastre3380 Keep in mind that this LOTR MMORPG (LOTRO) originates from a 1998 License. X amount of things occurred that didn't have a LOTR MMO launch closer to 1998.
It was in 2005 when Turbine took over and 2007 when the game launched.
They've supported French & German from the start is the key difference compared to bringing a New Language onboard.

I came to the game again with a big pleasure. Walked through all old location, Mordor e.t.c. And there I feel LOTRO "soul". Here - I see only average copy of conan exile. Sadly but it's not LOTRO zones for me.
80-10-10 doesn't work anymore. You have player base, fans who will spend money here but give us engine update, UI, graphic - at least something of that.

Game Engine does get worked on but there will be no New Engine or anything like that.
Graphics better known as Visual Updates are happening and Legacy of Morgoth will be the "Latest Visuals" available in LOTRO.

Camels is something they have discussed & want to wait until they are "properly" within a Region(s) that are suitable for such creatures. This would be proper deserts so further into Harad & other locations within Middle-earth which might have those.
So this is a game that has supposedly been updated over time (it's an online game that is being regularly patched after all) but cannot be run DECENTLY at a minimum no matter what your PC specs are. The UI has never been revised in 17 years and playing at higher than 2k resolution is impossible. Also, no one likes to be told about buying 1000's of different crap from the CASH SHOP within every single game interface, including the character panels and all loading screens - It's tacky, cheap and unappealing ( quite similar to mobile games). I sincerely hope for another LOTR online game as I deeply love the IP, too bad the company running the current LOTRO are a greedy bunch with little care or knowledge for actual code optimization, and no, I don't buy the cost-benefit bullshit (they still release all these bloatware expansions regularly). There will however always be people who purposely choose to see matters through rose tinted glasses and talk as if everything is great. I get as little as 30 fps at times and the game stutters and lags like there's no tomorrow on my rig which is quite high end (5ghz 16-core cpu, 32gb ram and rtx 3090ti), it's actually quite horrible no matter how you choose to put it.

I completely agree with you, on a powerful computer I can't even set the settings above "High", this leads to 40-60 frames. With 32 RAM, a modern graphics card and processor.
Upgrade all servers to 64 bit, not just the new servers for VIP only. That is the best upgrade or addition LOTRO can possibly get. Do that before releasing this new Xpac which is really Mordor reskinned, now under the sun.
The goal is to have all Servers be 64-bit but they've not publicly given a timeline for such. Most likely going to be a 2025 & possibly beyond that Project to see fully finished.

Thank goodness there's no level increase this time!!! I had managed to level 18 characters to level 120 when they increased the level to 130. I managed to level up 6 characters to 130 when they increased the level to 140. I just managed to level 1 character to 140 when they raised it to 150. It's exhausting and takes the fun out of the game (for me)! I only RP so I don't level up all my 40 characters to max level to do raids/dungeons, but some of them must be able to get ore/wood/leather etc for professions.
I love Lotro and I have played it since it was released and I will continue to play it for as long as I can (but please, no more level increases for a while!). 🥰
