Ngl, this was probably one of the more difficult videos I've made. Been meaning to get this out sooner, but I've been sitting on it since I was worried about putting this out tbh. Well, hopefully, you enjoy it.

I feel like Inigo/Laslow is such a good character because of how he's write in Fates also and his daughter Soliel. in Fates, he's a more serious in there than in Awakening, going through a lot of mental pain because he's already been in a war and lost almost everything from it, and his supports with Odin do show that. He's also giving advice to people that he recently met and he usually tries his best at it, good or bad. And with Soliel, he even states that the amount of times he worries about her on the battlefield is as much as his father did during battle, he finally realizes how much his parents really did care for him, and it''s a moment where he realizes where everything comes together, (This is based of his and Soliel's B and A Supports,) If ya want a TL;DR, he's a really well written character because of the 2 games he's been in where he improves and because of his daughter and making him realize things he hasn't before.
"Why Do I like Inigo" What I would've expected: hour long video of gushing What we got: Lovely and heartfelt comments on the most important aspects of his character Inigo is my favourite male character from Awakening, and by extension Laslow is my favourite fates character. Sain archetypes just really get me, and I honestly have no idea why. I'm not a particularly confident or charming person, hell I identify as asexual so I definitely don't relate to those aspects of the characters. I think I like them because I'm an optimist, and I love seeing the good in the world, and that is very much the outlook that these characters tend to take. It's, admittedly, a naïve and foolish approach to life, because more often than not things are shit, but it doesn't hurt to try and believe things can be good. One of my ideals that I wish I could uphold more often is "If you have an opportunity to make someones day better, take it". Hold the door for someone, compliment their outfit, pick up something they dropped for them. A simple act of kindness goes so far, but it's so difficult to carry them out in this bitch of a world with everything everyone has going on in their lives. Characters like Inigo follow this same philosophy, if you can make someone smile, or make their day better, then you've done something good. I think that's the biggest reason I love them. A specific example I can bring up is Laslows supports with female Corrin (which I did because I married Laslow in Conquest). He tries to get her to slow down and appreciate the little things, because they'll never know which day could be their last. It's a simple idea, but it's one that I love to think about when I feel overwhelmed and need to think about the little picture. Sit down, do something that makes you happy in that moment, and have a cup of tea. That's why I love Inigo.
Dude, it surprised me just how good they managed to handle him in Fates too. Like, yknow, Fates is known to have bad writing and stuff, but his supports were honestly really enjoyable. Like, Soleil's support specially I think is the best when it comes to him, because he understands that Soleil is in a kind of position as he was when he was her age, trying to protect her friends and family even when it could mean not making it out alive, and then how Soleil tells him he would never understand, but the whole point is that if there is anyone who can understand her it's him. Also in Peri's support how he reacts to Peri talking about the death of her mother when she was just a child and he just hugs her because he knows that pain all too well. Or even in Mozu's support when she talks about having lost her village and everyone important to her. And Nyx's support where she tells him that she is a monster for horrible things she did in the past, and he asks her if letting lots of people die and do nothing would also make him be a monster, because he feels like it was his fault for not being strong enough. Like, in the end, he is still the same guy and hiding the exact same pain from before, and us already knowing this and seeing all this moments in his supports really got me emotional.
I liked Laslow because I really liked how Sain was done for the charmer archetype. Though I never saw anyone else that did the flirt really well. I REALLY didn't like Gatrie or Saul. I think that I like Sylvain and Inigo so much is because they both have a deeper motive for their actions, they don't just flirt just because they enjoy it like Gatrie. I also really like their designs.
Inigo and Sylvain are definitely the charmer archetype done right. Back when 3H came out, I had to advocate for Sylvain not being "just another skirt chaser" a lot because people hadn't taken the time to see his supports past C level. On the other hand, Inigo's defiance of the trope is more apparent due to his shyness, and how he backs off the first time people ask him to. I think I have to say Inigo has more depth to him, but I'm not sure if that's fair since he has *two* games to develop his character, each with almost an entirely different set of characters and interactions.
As a fellow Inigo lover, you really hit it home with his character and how good/relatable he is 🥺 I love this boy for so many reasons, his character and constantly trying to just... get people smiling is so good. His supports with his father really got me, and I think it’s a part of why I like him so much too- while I was initially just captivated by his good looks and all, his motives and ideals are so pure when you get down to it that makes me just want to give him a hug, tell him I care about him. I’m also glad to know Liam O’Brien had something to do with someone else falling for him too! His performance in awakening is incredible, the best Inigo voice. Sorry not sorry Mick Wingert.
He's a handsome, happy lad. He's always been one of my favorite characters and I love his personality and whole story. Plus there's no way that man is completely straight and I love that
I may be thirsty for him a lot of the time but god, the supports man. It really touched me, I also saw a bit of myself in him, I could relate. Everyday I do my best to look forwards instead of dragging myself down into the pit, so I also find some comfort in his character because of that too. Something Im pretty sure I leave out while talking about why I like him a lot since it is a tad personal.

Ah, I’m glad to see another conesuire of this beautiful beautiful boy singing his praises. In all seriousness though, there hasn’t been another character that has done it for me as much as Inigo/Laslow has in this series. He already hit the right boxes for me, like with his voice, how he starts off in my favorite unprompted class and promotes to my favorite promoted one, and his stat build in Fates and skill build as a hero being an archetype I like. You know, all sorts of superficial stuff. But it’s really the sheer support quality that sold him for me. I can’t say I relate to him like maybe some others do, but how invested I got into him was pretty staggering, particularly in his Fates incarnation. From the get-go he just a wholesome, lovable, inspiring dude who tries to make people smile and be happy, using his flirting to break in before doing all he can to make them happy, all being supplemented by some great writing. I already thought and still do think Fates’ support quality is better than most people give it credit for most of the time, but this was really something else. He would’ve been my favorite of the Fates’ cast with just that appearance alone just because of the quality, which is not as easy as you’d think in Fates with characters like Xander, Nyx, Niles, and more having great rosters of supports and characterization in them. Not to say his Awakening incarnation doesn’t have great material, but it by itself wouldn’t have sold me. Yet that’s the thing, the material between both games comes together really well. Out of all the characters that been the subject of some character analysis by me, he’s been the most substantial and rewarding because a lot of supports just have something in there that ties all back in to the broader picture in both games, or that you can pin down and know what informed it. And in something I wouldn’t say for many characters in this series, there is a legitimately well pulled off arc going on between games with him being more childish and uncontrollably flirty to becoming much more mature, falling back on experience to comfort others and give substantial advice, and having many more serious supports in Fates when it was a handful in Awakening. So even though I think he’s weaker there, it paves the way to make what I thought was already great into something amazing. Besides, there are there’s just some great wham moments in there like that moment in his B support with his father in Awakening, him connecting with Peri, his loss of composure over their situation with Odin, and so on. Probably my favorite is how he denies the chance to philander when given the chance with Soleil, as in the thing that supposed to define him on the surface and his reoccurring trope, just to spend time with his daughter because that’s how much he cares about her. So yeah, that’s why every time I get to Ch. 12 Conquest, or wherever else he is first recruitable in Awakening, I always get super stoked and happy. It why I dumped everything I could on a Laslow in FEH, and why I will continue to sing his praises. This man right here is really something else, and he continues to make me smile without fail.

I don't play Awakening or Fates but now I feel more compelled to get them to gain deeper insight on Inigo/Laslow as a character like you have. It's a great video and maybe you can do more like this
Loved this video. Personally, I don't think anyone needs to justify why a FE character is their favorite. I feel like a favorite FE character is such a big part of your identity as a FE fan or sometimes even your identity as a person. Something that means so much to you on a relatable, personal level and does so much good for you like that doesn't need to be justified.
I actually love him so much because of similar reasons, I started playing heroes and I didn't really pay attention to him until I saw him in his PA!alt and I started to pay more attention to him, then I checked out his supports and I just fell in love with him ps: thanks for the tip on genealogy, I have it downloaded but can't get past the first level but mostly cause I get desperate because by the time I get to the bridge I have no idea what to do
I like Inigo with Virion as his dad tbh. It makes sense imo, because it seems like he gets his flirtatiousness from his dad, lol. And, yeah, ig henry can explain his tendency to put on a facade better, but you could also see it as Inigo trying to be this noble, gallant figure. And I like how in his Fates supports, he helps Selena through stuff and manages to redeem freakin Peri. Tbh I like the fates kids more overall, but If i had to pick the awakening kids i like the most, it'd be the fates trio, Cynthia, and female Morgan.
inigo is a character that genuinely means the world and more to me, and it makes me so happy to see someone else appreciating him the way i think he deserves as a character. beautifully said!
I can relate to Inigo a lot. I have really bad self esteem issues, and for most of the day I'm just thinking about it. There are times I don't want to leave my room, because I'm embarrassed to have anyone, even my family, see me. But I have to go out and pretend I'm fine. So I laugh everything off (I even laugh at my own thoughts, but that's because I've done this for too long). So Inigo felt like me. He's someone who hid his problems the way I do. I think a lot of Awakening's characters are written like that. They have normal problems that anyone could relate to, and it's nice. Especially for me, as I'm the kind of person who needs to know that I'm not alone. That's probably why I like this game so much. It's just very real.
It's really nice to hear you talk about the best boy and discovering that he means so much to you. A really nice video, I'm happy that this happy guy achieved his goal: to raise up the morale and be inspirational to you. To me he's best boy too but for some other specific reason but globally it's the same. Like he's so much more than a womanizer, a really well written character and personally, I like the fact that he tries his best to make everyone happy and that's something I truly respect above all else. I Love Inigo/Lazlow for the same reason as you and I can relate to his "smile the pain away" way to go because i do it too alot. He really is a wonderful character!
Gods you have me convinced, originally he was only in my top 10 characters from Awakening but now he's made his way to top 5, I never realized he had so much emotional depth
Inigo ain't my favorite but I'm definitely a fan of him. I felt his support with Olivia was very touching. Even after his parents died, the image of him continuing to dance for his mother despite never having learned the full routine and in spite of what pain he may have been feeling was very impactful. And for him to get another chance to talk to Olivia and learn the rest of the dance she taught him felt very satisfying. I like his character as well. He ain't strongest, the bravest or the most suave but he does his best in spite of that. You could say he's putting on airs and being someone he's not but that's not the full story. He's trying to be the best that he can be and and by embodying the traits he wishes he had, he's working towards acquiring them and becoming the kind of person he wants to be. I respect that and to a small extent, I want to and chose to live similarly.
Its comforting to know there are people like you out there, even fictional characters, because it proves the creator has been through a similar experience or knows a person who has been like that.
I've spoken to so many people who never used Inigo because "he's just a shallow flirt and annoyed me" and... it makes me so sad every time. Because everything you pointed out in this video is true. And when you see his supports with Olivia (iirc), he also reveals that he only started being a flirt in order to overcome his shyness. "Fake it 'til you make it". (Which is even more amusing if you know that Olivia herself learned this from Maribelle, and HE learned it from OLIVIA. It's like a never-ending cycle with that family now, and Mari started it all...) But yeah, definitely, please use Inigo, friends. Or at least read his supports on the wiki. The reasons you gave on why you like Inigo/Laslow are pretty much the same reasons on why I like him too. For some reason, I love characters who subvert expectations, especially ones like Inigo whose real nature is not obvious at the first glance. Probably the reason I like them might be because of the fact that, at one point in our life we do that too. We hide our true feelings for people around us. It can be because of various reasons, we might not trust them, we might think that we don't need to do it, or it can be even because we care for them, so we wouldn't show our true feelings around them because it might make them sad, etc. To end this on a positive note, My first genealogy experience was exactly like yours(minus the permadeath part because I played Shadow dragon and New mystery first) and it also taught me why I shouldn't rely on a single unit(sigurd) to do all the combat. Chapter 3 seriously screwed me, so much so that I stopped playing Genealogy and came back after completing gba games. Even then I had to start over because there was no way I sigurd could survive combat against all of the units in chapter 3.
so i started playing awakening when i was 12/13, and my first through playthroughs i never used olivia, so i never got inigo. i only found out about his existence through the internet. thought he was cute and funny, so i went back to see what was up. then his b support with his father happened. then his b support with lucina. long story short, pre-teen me ended up latching onto him so hard that i basically stole his entire personality lol inigo best boi
Can’t say that I don’t have the same admiration for Inigos character even though a lot of the father supports in awakening are the same the reason I like Inigo is because I had paired Olivia with Robin my first ever playthrough of awakening and they really struck the first impression
While not many people will agree with me, I believe one of the best fathers for Inigo is Lon'qu because how they hide their trauma and pain in their own ways. Inigo tries to protect his family and friends by being optimistic while Lon'qu tries to keep people at bay to not hurt them. I just love how Olivia helped both Inigo and Lon'qu and how the family is full of shy people. Ps: The father support fits Lon'qu best due to the fact that Inigo often causes trouble and Lon'qu is the more responsible one.
I like how contrast he like to flirt woman likes Sain(From FE7)but in reality he is very shy person lol. His suppoer with Owain(Odin) and Severa(Serena) are so precious in Awakening and Fates. He is one of the Male character that I loved in this series. In FE Awakening Inigo will be my top ten character I loved, but the character that I love is Owain(His Chunibyuu personality is so much fun and backstory why he is Chunibyuu make me want to hug him). If Owain isn't exist Inigo will be my number 1 Male Second Generation character that I love.

Until now, I had always dismissed Inigo as a Hopeless romantic archetype and nothing else, like many other one dimensional Awakening characters. I didn't realise that he has a reason for acting the way he does, and it's a completely valid reason as well!

inigo is a character that genuinely means the world and more to me, and it makes me so happy to see someone else appreciating him the way i think he deserves as a character. beautifully said!
I can relate to Inigo a lot.
I have really bad self esteem issues, and for most of the day I'm just thinking about it. There are times I don't want to leave my room, because I'm embarrassed to have anyone, even my family, see me. But I have to go out and pretend I'm fine. So I laugh everything off (I even laugh at my own thoughts, but that's because I've done this for too long). So Inigo felt like me. He's someone who hid his problems the way I do.
I think a lot of Awakening's characters are written like that. They have normal problems that anyone could relate to, and it's nice. Especially for me, as I'm the kind of person who needs to know that I'm not alone. That's probably why I like this game so much. It's just very real.
It's really nice to hear you talk about the best boy and discovering that he means so much to you. A really nice video, I'm happy that this happy guy achieved his goal: to raise up the morale and be inspirational to you.
To me he's best boy too but for some other specific reason but globally it's the same. Like he's so much more than a womanizer, a really well written character and personally, I like the fact that he tries his best to make everyone happy and that's something I truly respect above all else. He's kinda like my other best boy Takuto Maruki. I'm sure that you'll like him if you play P5R one day.

I Love Inigo/Lazlow for the same reason as you and I can relate to his "smile the pain away" way to go because i do it too alot. He really is a wonderful character!
Gods you have me convinced, originally he was only in my top 10 characters from Awakening but now he's made his way to top 5, I never realized he had so much emotional depth

Inigo ain't my favorite but I'm definitely a fan of him. I felt his support with Olivia was very touching. Even after his parents died, the image of him continuing to dance for his mother despite never having learned the full routine and in spite of what pain he may have been feeling was very impactful. And for him to get another chance to talk to Olivia and learn the rest of the dance she taught him felt very satisfying.
I like his character as well. He ain't strongest, the bravest or the most suave but he does his best in spite of that. You could say he's putting on airs and being someone he's not but that's not the full story. He's trying to be the best that he can be and and by embodying the traits he wishes he had, he's working towards acquiring them and becoming the kind of person he wants to be. I respect that and to a small extent, I want to and chose to live similarly.
Its comforting to know there are people like you out there, even fictional characters, because it proves the creator has been through a similar experience or knows a person who has been like that.
Fiction is just inspiration from real life changed/exagerated, but the meaning is still there.
I've spoken to so many people who never used Inigo because "he's just a shallow flirt and annoyed me" and... it makes me so sad every time. Because everything you pointed out in this video is true.
And when you see his supports with Olivia (iirc), he also reveals that he only started being a flirt in order to overcome his shyness. "Fake it 'til you make it". (Which is even more amusing if you know that Olivia herself learned this from Maribelle, and HE learned it from OLIVIA. It's like a never-ending cycle with that family now, and Mari started it all...)
But yeah, definitely, please use Inigo, friends. Or at least read his supports on the wiki. He is just... so important, okay? And inspiring.

The reasons you gave on why you like Inigo/Laslow are pretty much the same reasons on why I like him too. For some reason, I love characters who subvert expectations, especially ones like Inigo whose real nature is not obvious at the first glance. Probably the reason I like them might be because of the fact that, at one point in our life we do that too. We hide our true feelings for people around us. It can be because of various reasons, we might not trust them, we might think that we don't need to do it, or it can be even because we care for them, so we wouldn't show our true feelings around them because it might make them sad, etc.
To end this on a positive note, My first genealogy experience was exactly like yours(minus the permadeath part because I played Shadow dragon and New mystery first) and it also taught me why I shouldn't rely on a single unit(sigurd) to do all the combat. Chapter 3 seriously screwed me, so much so that I stopped playing Genealogy and came back after completing gba games. Even then I had to start over because there was no way I sigurd could survive combat against all of the units in chapter 3.
so i started playing awakening when i was 12/13, and my first through playthroughs i never used olivia, so i never got inigo. i only found out about his existence through the internet. thought he was cute and funny, so i went back to see what was up. then his b support with his father happened. then his b support with lucina. long story short, pre-teen me ended up latching onto him so hard that i basically stole his entire personality lol inigo best boi

Can’t say that I don’t have the same admiration for Inigos character even though a lot of the father supports in awakening are the same the reason I like Inigo is because I had paired Olivia with Robin my first ever playthrough of awakening and they really struck the first impression

While not many people will agree with me, I believe one of the best fathers for Inigo is Lon'qu because how they hide their trauma and pain in their own ways. Inigo tries to protect his family and friends by being optimistic while Lon'qu tries to keep people at bay to not hurt them. I just love how Olivia helped both Inigo and Lon'qu and how the family is full of shy people.
Ps: The father support fits Lon'qu best due to the fact that Inigo often causes trouble and Lon'qu is the more responsible one.

I like how contrast he like to flirt woman likes Sain(From FE7)but in reality he is very shy person lol. His suppoer with Owain(Odin) and Severa(Serena) are so precious in Awakening and Fates. He is one of the Male character that I loved in this series.
In FE Awakening Inigo will be my top ten character I loved, but the character that I love is Owain(His Chunibyuu personality is so much fun and backstory why he is Chunibyuu make me want to hug him). If Owain isn't exist Inigo will be my number 1 Male Second Generation character that I love.

Until now, I had always dismissed Inigo as a Hopeless romantic archetype and nothing else, like many other one dimensional Awakening characters. I didn't realise that he has a reason for acting the way he does, and it's a completely valid reason as well!
