The guinea with the two-part call is a hen, the males call is much less attractive, a single bleat. You are right about them being prone to leave if they have a chance, but if they are raised on your place they will stay. I learned they do best if you put guinea eggs under a broody game hen to hatch. Game hens make excellent mothers, very protective and they are just about as wild as guineas.
