    It’s crazy how fast VR game design is evolving. A game first released 3 years ago is going to be designed significantly differently than one first released today.

      Very true. It just sucks that the version released 3 years ago was designed better than the one we got today.

      That was me in 2016 Jack! You can go back to the early days of PSVR and I was saying things like "I don't want to stand in the middle of my living room and wave my arms! I'm still a video gamer and just want to sit on my couch with a controller! " Lol I've definitely changed my stance on that :D

      @@WithoutParole hoping PSVR2 will change my stance on that :) games like Trover, Moss, and Astro bot are my favs. But been trying new stuff recently with Red Matter, Statik, IEYTD2 - I’m in VR kick recently!

    Great review Bryan. It's a shame we're still having these issues almost 6 years into the PSVR's life. If I end up playing this it'll be on quest, since I've had it sitting on there for a while.

    Finally bought this game on sale and wish I had gotten it earlier. To me it's more of an 8 out of 10 - for sure a 9 if it had free movement! A patch has fixed most of its other problems like the loading screens in random places - it now loads a whole level in at one time and I didn't have any probs with the gravity puzzle part so I expect that's been fixed too. The puzzles and story are all very good and it has a long playtime with bonus and secret levels with a hidden ending. If you are looking for a good VR puzzle game it's more than worth it for its current sale price.

    If I had access to an unlimited supply of any games' physical version I'd pick Sirento and I'd send a copy to every developer that can't be bothered to put in full locomotion with a note saying "so about that teleport only thing"

    I think this looks like a fun one, but with your caveats in mind, I'll keep my expectations in check. Also, if it's at the same $20 price point, I might have to wait a bit, especially given my backlog.

    Is it bad we're at a stage when games are released and my first thought is "I'm glad it's not too janky and it's actually playable at launch" 🤣

  • @acem7749
    @acem7749 Год назад

    Maybe patches fixed some issues but after beating this farther in the future after the review I would have to say even in the PS VR2 world I enjoyed this more than most other games in VR It says a lot. I'd say this game aged well at least for me I enjoyed the puzzles I could wrap my brain around it admittedly a few times I said God damn this hurting my brain but I got through it figured it out through patience and trial and error. Teleportation really doesn't matter to me in a game like this since it is just moving to a spot where you would then use a rough version of room scaling to move and manipulate parts of the puzzle It's not a first-person shooter so I could care less at that point.

    Hi! I'm stuck in "The Huntress" level because I can't grab the key from the well. It seems to be a bug. Does anyone know a solution? THX!

    • @WithoutParole
      @WithoutParole  Год назад +1

      It worked for me eventually but I had to experiment with where I was looking because grabbing the key initiates a scene change (so when you look back up you're somewhere else). It was a problem on the Quest version too, sucks that they haven't fixed it yet...

    played this game on quest, got mixed feelings about it. i had the same experience with the puzzles later on, i was just trying out different stuff, but for the most part i thought puzzles were good. agree about silent protagonist, on top of that Lorna should be interrogating him on how he got there. it does take away a bit some of the emotional impact of the story.
    still liked the game though, LOVE the soundtrack.

    There's a very disappointing lack of updates to vr games to improve movement (e.g., SO many games should have been updated to support the aim controller and 3d rudder but hardly any were). In this case it's not even a lack of progress but rather an actual step back from the original version...

  • @davidregan8152

    Thanks Bryan
    I might just wait for a sale on this one, I mean teleportation is so so outdated, it goes against the magic of virtual reality, In real life we move we do not teleport, I wish developers would have consultations with players of vr games, developers are ruining their own games, by including the very things we players don’t want.

  • @k31n3rd4
    @k31n3rd4 2 года назад

    So they not only stripped full locomotion but added loading screens that the quest version doesn’t have? And this kills otherwise great effects?
    Why?
    Reminds me of Iron Man, that moment where you jump off the plane and suit up while falling just to have a loading screen, it takes away so much from the moment.
    Well this makes no sense, I better keep my money then. Doubt they will patch it.

    Lol, the teleporting is instant no for me, all I needed to know. Like what is even the logic behind that? Is it something about like it makes you feel less sick or something? It’s so infuriating; completely ruins any game for me.

    • @JazzyJayTheTarotMageGamecat
      @JazzyJayTheTarotMageGamecat 2 года назад

      Yea, it's used because it greatly reduces chances of becoming motion sick, for those who are sensitive to that. I have weak VR legs since I don't play often and depending on the game, I'll start with whatever "comfort" options are available and then continue playing the game in bursts until eventually I can remove those settings. It's just reallyyyyy weird the original version of this game gave the option to choose between full locomotion & teleporting, but on PSVR they're forcing the teleport movement... Even though I'm someone who utilizes teleporting in some games, I never stick to it exclusively and I feel like the devs should know better to leave it as an option to choose

  • @Freeter2k
    @Freeter2k 2 года назад

    Celebrity inclusions do little to entice me to buy a game, and teleport-only is a downright insult this late in the VR lifecycle. 2023 needs to haul ass so we can finally be rid of these half-baked ports.
