You guys seem to be doing something different... something really amazing 👏👏
You first covered HP, then the books, and now such a top tier movie like 'Dead poets society'.
    Quality>>>>Trends💯💯
These movies go slow, but then hit you in a way that they stay with you forever.
If you like the vibe of this movie, then 'The perks of being a wallflower' and 'Good will hunting' are highly recommended.
Once again....Keep up the good work.

Bravo to a wonderful movie reaction! Okay, at marker 10:21 "...poetry, beauty romance, love, these are what we stay alive for" YES! It is very profound and true! When this movie came out it caught me off guard, I was not mentally prepared for this movie I was on one of my weekend dates at the time. I remember having heavy feelings, I felt empty, guilty, and inspired all at once if that makes sense. I love the way Robin Williams’ character John Keating made an impact on his students, it inspired me to begin thinking for myself for once as well and honestly there were people in my life that did not like the choice I made when I decided upon that. The tragedy of Neil that broke my heart. That ending made me cry, yes, you guys are right, I think the parents took the easy way out by blaming the school staff instead of looking at themselves not being held accountable for their actions as well, that is a hard reality for some to accept; I know I had come to realize that as well as those in my life. I am glad you enjoyed this movie, and I enjoyed your reaction! ☮ and 💕 👏👏

Wow your comment is so inspirational just like the movie! I’m so happy to hear that inspired you to start thinking for yourself too even though some people didn’t like it. You are honestly so right when you said it makes you feel empty, guilty, and inspired all at once. Just like you, we weren’t prepared for this movie. It took us on a whole different journey than we were expecting but the best one!🙌🏼 it has so many hidden messages! And yes, completely agree with you about the parents taking the easy way out and we’re trying to blaming everyone else but themselves. Thank you so much for watching with us, as always we love seeing your comments!!😊💕 - Daniela

Ethan had been in a couple of things but this was his breakthrough film. He thought Robin Williams didn't like him as he was so funny and teased Ethan a bit - but turned out after the movie Robin told his agent that Ethan was someone they should sign on as a client, which they did.

Harrison Ford was known for adventure films, but the actor wanted to expand his acting skills. He got Australian director Peter Weir to direct him in “Witness.”

Robin Williams was known for comedy. He wanted to be seen as a serious actor (he’d studied at The Juilliard School). And seeing the success with Peter Weir got him to direct him in “Dead Poet’s Society”.
Jim Carrey, also wanting to be known for more serious roles and following on the previously mentioned, got Peter Weir to direct him in “The Truman Show.”
All felt that this Australian director could bring out the serious actor in them.

This and The Shawshank Redemption are my favorite movie of all time, I watched as a teen, and 35 years later still are, watching this a teen, is great, and for fathers I think is too, to learn how when you push the bottoms too much, you could damage your kids, their confidence, Niel was a good student, the best in his group, he wasnt lazy, so to let the enjoy life, I think his father love him, but was blind, by what he wanted for his son, that he didnt think what his son really wanted, you could saw that he was a confident boy buy not with his father,

It was so easy my first couple times viewing this masterpiece when I was younger to be so angry at Neil’s dad for the pressure he inflicted and the disregard for Neil’s wishes. Eventually, I came to a realization once I learned the time period here. Neil’s dad went through the Great Depression. He most likely saw awful hardship, whether for himself or others. He was motivated not by malice, or cruelty, or plain stubbornness… but by fear of his son suffering similarly and doing what he thought was best to protect his son. Even if that meant protecting him from himself. Do I think it excuses the behavior? No. But I feel like I understand it a lot more now, and don’t get quite as angry at him as I used to.

Most of the scenes showing the school's exterior/campus were filmed at the St. Andrews School - a boarding high school in Middletown, Delaware. Theater and town shots were mainly in Middletown or New Castle DE. Interiors of Keating's classroom were filmed on a sound stage in Wilmington DE.

A teacher showed us this movie in school when we were about 15 years old and prefaced it with "this is the best movie ever made". Needless to say it made an impression on a teenager and I've loved it ever since.
Another great classic to watch would be the 1994 Little Women if you haven't seen it!

You said that Neil's father loved him but in the death scene he NEVER calls him by name. It is always 'my son, my son...', and I think that this is the basis of the problem (and so many other problems) because to too many parents) even in this day and age) their kids are just mini-me's

    • @TheHappyCryersReact
      @TheHappyCryersReact  3 месяца назад +3

I completely understand where you're coming from and agree to a certain point. However, as a father myself, a person would have to be a full-blown narcissist or psychopath to not love their own child. I know that there are parents who don't show their love in the right ways or even struggle to show it at all, but that does not mean that they don't love them right? Someone else commented that Neil's father came from The Great Depression with extreme poverty, so it is understandable that he would be extremely stubborn in wanting the absolute best for his son. That does NOT excuse or justify the actions of Neil's father and making Neil feel the way he did. It was 100% wrong and the consequence costed Neil's life. Such a poetic movie! We hope you enjoyed our reaction and thank you for your comment! - Chris

Think of all the behaviors in the context of 1950’s private boarding school. And they are 16-17 years old. It’s easy to think that something is unfair or wrong based on our 2024 society.

A little confused by your comment? I don’t think we said anything was unfair or wrong with the teenagers during our reaction? There was cringy parts but that’s actually accurate to being a teenager in real life. We’ve all done cringy things as teenagers. All good 👍🏼 - Chris
