So far, in my career, I have found that clients do not really care which tools you use so long as the end result is met.
We give in to the "this is better than that, this app is better than that app", iOS vs Android, etc. when all of these tools offer (almost) the same thing and produce the same result.
I started my career with Wordpress only because the clients I interacted with already had WP installed and were using it and I will continue to do so "if" that is what the client wants. I learned Webflow because of the robustness and scalability and am currently building a site with it (and I love it).
What about Framer? Yes, I will be learning it as it may offer a type of result that a potential client is looking for.

Framer is simply the best no-code web publishing tool on the market at the moment (for my needs), and I've tried a number of them. I am currently moving all my Webflow clients to Framer. I know you are a Webflow fan, and I am; I have huge respect for the team and what they are building. They have changed my career in many ways, and I'm sure at some point, I'll need to use them for some kind of challenging project. When it comes to the raw power of visual building and the inbuilt features to create whatever you imagine Framer is far ahead of the game and will unlock the potential for the next million creatives.

What is your approach to your client about the Framer's hosting fees being way more expansive ?

Love these vids Ran. Seems like the consensus is that Framer's framework is different and more familiar to those who know prototyping in Figma. I can see why Webflow's investing so heavily in their figma to webflow tooling so they can compete on that front. For me, I see Framer as more of a designer tool and Webflow as a developer tool and the market share is going to start turning the tide to Framer due to most of the no-coders being designers at the end of the day.

Great, but it all comes down to scalibility, Webflow have tons of advance features, and this is what client needs, for me learning both is the best option rether that learning just one

    •  9 месяцев назад +1

What kind of scalability do you mean? I would guess, that for many clients framer is capable enough.

    • @CarlosGomesCabral
      @CarlosGomesCabral 9 месяцев назад

@ People forget (or perhaps don't yet know) that Framer allows for writing React modules to extend its capabilities or create more complex things.

@ By scability i means the amount of customization you can do on Webflow, You can use API's, integrations and Finsweet attributes is a whole another level, I would say small websites = can be created in Framer, larger websites = Webflow is the only option

Interesting video! What got me thinking the most is that Ran as a Webflow ambassador even consider the switch. Im curious to know how Webflow can compete to Framer when we are talking about plane sites with nice animation, transitions etc? Since Webflow as we all now is a damn beast to tame.. haha

What should I redesign my site with? WordPress, Webflow, Framer, etc??? I'm a designer, musician, author, blogger, and podcaster with an ecommerce shop to sell digital and physical products. Been using WordPress since 2005 but took a break from web design around 2014. I come back in the 2020s and now I hear about Webflow this and Framer that. I also hear about Bricks builder for WP. Seriously, I'm not sure where to go. Where to invest my time learning and building?

At this point there’s a finite number of components that can comprise a website. The rest is images and copy. There’s no reason to start build from blank pages and build up each component over and over. What we need is a simple library of components and interactions that can be dragged and dropped.

I can see a lot of good things about Framer, but still my biggest concern is it's scalability in terms of clients needs. Where the possibility is almost endless with webflow, unless it is based on their native e-commerce functionality😆.
But maybe I have missed something or they have evolvede more since last time i looked into it. But anyways it is always great to have two players like Framer and Webflow on the market. They can easily co-exist in this space and we will all benefit for having two businesses doing some of the same things but in different ways :)

I honestly think designers should stick to designing and developers should stuck with development. You don't see architect became engineers themselves because the separation of expertise is what push the technology forward. Both needs to have some idea and understanding on what's happening on the other side.
The bridge for both needs to be closer, I,e, I dislike the fact that auto-layout is just another name for flex-box and it confuses everyone in the end. Making the gap of translation even further.
What's happening with a lot of no-code is that, the technology lock in is much dependence on the company that produces them, and even tho it sorta grant super power to designers, I can almost guarantee the code will be spaghetti in the next few years and the mass clients will think that this is how bad the quality of design/development is, thus bringing the price for each service down and the respect for the job.
Much like WordPress, when page builders came in - of course it helps people, but then you'd see lots of "web designers" that brand themselves as Wordpress experts/devs and but lacks the proper understanding of web dev(HTML, CSS, basic JS), scalability, stability, security etc - it made the whole ecosystem stagnant for at least a decade just to suffice the no-code demand but things are limited by the technology and worse, consensus amongst the creators.
I may be wrong in the end, but I think webflow has that sweet balance between no-code and low-code, design and development and it actually forces designers to understand some basic concepts of web development.

As a Webflow developer I would actually say start with Framer, because it seems to be easier to learn, especially if you don't have any web development experience.
But try both of them out and see which tools fits you the best. It is not the tool, but the person using them that defines the end product. So I would say choose the one that you feel the most comfortable with.
