The cool thing about a collection like this, rather than a "Top-10" is that the listener can hear samples of the wide variety of music the NES could produce, the good and bad. Plus, one can begin to recognize a "signature sound" by certain developers. For example, Capcom titles have a specific music fingerprint, as does Sunsoft and Konami.
Despite the NES' limitations, it had some banger soundtracks!
Woah, was not expecting to hear the Monopoly theme! I played soooo much NES Monopoly as a teenager.

DuckTales 2 also had a great soundtrack. Too bad no one heard it because the game came out so late (NES was already on its way out)

Stuff like Lone Ranger, and Jack Nickolas golf which I never actually played, but the music is great. Even the Mega Man 4 Dr. Cossack song -- too many people focus entirely on Mega Man 2 in playlists, it gets really tiring.
***** I'm glad you liked it then! I get it with MM2 too. I mean, its got great music, but IMO it's not even the best of the NES series. I really think the 3rd one was much better in just about all regards, especially the music!

Star Tropics had one of the best sound tracks of the NES era.
Lone Ranger is such an underrated game, and has kick ass music
All of the songs were used for this came from NES games, and I will use it for future episodes of the “MTN Gang”.
I've always wondered why NES music usually sounds better than Master System music, especially the percussions. On the SMS they mostly sound like someone scratching a piece cardboard...

This is subjective. The SMS' PSG is awesome for me to listen to. In Japan they also had FM synthesis. The NES also produces great sounds. To make either sound great requires a good composer to write awesome songs appropriate for the hardware.
Snake man stage is kick ass music! Same as turtles III bridge theme. That one always pumped me up playing it as a kid kicking foot soldiers off the cliffs! Also I remember my adrenaline still going while watching super c ending after defeating the final boss. lol
I agree on Snake Man (I've heard killer covers on that btw), personally I like the sewer stage on TMNT3 though. More of a groove

Adventures of Bayou Billy Ending theme? As if that game is possible to beat. Hardest NES game ever
Its possible with a whole lot of time dedicated to it, but the Japanese version is way better. Much easier, if you want to play it and have fun without obsessively memorizing the game! It also had several endings, some of them really fun, that were cut out of the us version
NintendoComplete Why don't you make a Game Boy Hour Of Power? Include Classic, Color and Advance versions just like an emulator please buddy.
Tim Wailordlover Sounds like fun, why not? Not sure when I'll get around to it, but a Game Boy one could be good. I'll probably limit it to just GB and GBC, the GBA sounds way too different to really lump it in properly
OK, do GB and GBC like GBC.A.D, my emulator mate. Then after that, do a Game Boy Advance hour of power. I'll be happy!
Tim Wailordlover I'm sure it'll happen, the GBA has some awesome music (Iridion 3D and II... amazing). I think a SNES vid has to happen first though, after the 8bit GBs!

You should have put the updated Startropics song in there as there was a bug found in the coding. It is 100% then the original. Also, there is a bug on the final song in Star tropics as well.

Nice! Some great stuff on here. I love all those Lone Ranger songs. Never got too far in that game as a kid. I'll have to try playing through it sometime again as an adult and see how it goes.

+Michael Crandall Thanks! They are, but I've never gotten a strike on anything before. The videos do sometimes get flagged though, but if that happens, I just pull out the stuff that was flagged, replace it with something else, re-render, and re-upload . Only when it all finally looks clear from those flags do I publish it to the public.

Great bit of music, but I have to call you on a screwup- the Mega Man 4 sample, at 7:09 is NOT Wily Castle 1- that's Cossack Castle, stages 1 and 2.

Did anybody enjoy Double Dragon 3? 1 & 2 were great, I even enjoyed Bayou Billy, but Double Dragon 3 was just too hard

"Not a "Best of" nor a "Top 10" list", huh? You know, they aren't great either. I mean, some tracks are okay like Tiny Toon theme - 49:01. Sounds pretty clean, doesn't it? Some tracks - I admit - are really great. Like this one - 49:45. Truly a good one. But some of them are just terrible. Like this one - 33:53. Great? That TNNNNNNN'P'TNNNNNNN? Seriously?.. Please don't scam people with the wrong title. You could call them "memorable" at least... It would be true. I couldn't forget that hell mess of different sounds for about an hour.

So you put the TMNT overworld theme in... and showed clips of the Boss Battle... but didn't actually USE the Boss Battle themes (which is one of the more intense boss battle themes in NES gaming history)? Really? lol.
I love the battle theme just as much :) I wanted to edit the video for each of the games' songs to give a general idea of the game, so most of them don't really match where they're from in the game. They're just meant to be something to look at while listening to the music.
