    I’m a single mom, living on an acre with a lot of trees to maintain. This is my first chainsaw and I was a little nervous, despite this saw being quite straightforward and intuitive to put together. Thank you so much for your easy, fun video. You explained and demonstrated just like my Dad used to. Reminded me of him and I appreciate you taking the time to share this... thank you!

      Hi Teri, I'm a single mom too. I see you wrote this around 11 months ago. My question is: how do you feel about it now? I just purchased a home with 0.80 acre and need to do a lot of tree cleaning. I bought the Sunjoe, but haven't assembled it yet. Your thoughts are appreciated!

      @@winkingchick I have owned this chainsaw since Nov of 2017. I bought it on a black Friday deal week for $49 (a steal now) I am a single woman who has no kids but I do a lot of the tree pruning/yardwork myself. This chainsaw has been great and my sister and her husband even used it to chop down her huge old oak tree that was rotten in the center. It cut down some pretty huge logs. Its still going strong 4 years later. The only thing with chainsaws is that the chains do go dull after some time of using them. Just make sure you buy a good chainsaw chain sharpener kit from Amazon or buy chainsaw chains to have on hand if you need to swap them out quickly.

    Great informative video. This tool is a must when you have trees. We have many various palms where some have large thorns and others have very thick prongs and a few trees including a giant Mango and Amazon Beauty Leaf. We moved up to a cordless 40 volt electric and never looked back. A little heavy for the ladies but with limited use they handle it just fine. The chain saw also detaches. I can vouch for the 10 inch 40-volt Electric Cordless 2-in-one adjustable pole chainsaw made by Earthwise.

    • @poundridgepete
      @poundridgepete  4 года назад +1

      Agreed Michael! Thanks for the informative comment! Cordless lithium IS the best way to go! Earthwise was a great choice and it shows you did your research! I went with an electric because at the time I was comparing it to a basic manual saw which is not much cheaper. Since I only use the pole saw a couple of times a year I wanted one on the cheaper side - But to those who want the most convenient and are willing to spend a bit more GO Cordless lithium battery as you wisely suggested!

    This is my first electric chainsaw. I was stunned to see how this machine holds the chain with just two anchor points, one of which just barely raises above the chainsaw plate! On top of that, the entire chain saw assembly is protected with a clumsy thin plastic cover held by a single nut! Hopefully, it will not be as dangerous as I fear when I start using it. Coming to this video, thanks for sharing it. At least now I can rest assured that people use it and are still alive!

    You sir, just sold me a chainsaw. Like you, I have a regular chain saw, but I have two ultra prolific trees and I cannot, rather will not, shell out $2k / year to keep the trees maintained. I have the sun joe chipper for the up to 1.5" branches - works like a little champ, it is most adequate, and now with this little pole saw, I'll do the trees.

      No its a very dumb Idea. The motor is only 8amp so they say and in reality it is lucky if its truly 4amps. The thrust angle of a conventional cutting chain is made for much higher rpm cutting.

    The 100 cord is the maximum , not a minimum. # 16 or #14 wire is not "heavy duty". Go to #12 for 200' of wire or you'll burn out the motor. (The higher the number, the smaller the wire) For 8 amps you can use 100' of #14 but #12 is recommended. For 200' you have to use #12. Also, the 8 amps is probably only the running amps. The starting amps are higher and may require a larger size (smaller number) wire. You need to do a bit of studying and/or consulting. Basically for 200' you need # 12 or larger wire (smaller #)

      I used to sell both electric and gas powered chainsaws.
      From time to time we'd have a customer come in with an electric chainsaw that was burnt out and even the plastic casing was warped from the heat.
      In every case the customer had exceeded the 100 ft. maximum extension cord length using regular 14 gauge wire.

    Thanks for this demo. Two "silly" questions if you don't mind -- about storage, as I do not plan to use very frequently (maybe even years between use). 1) how do you drain the oil out since I would not want it go go bad? 2) Related question: if I keep the oil in it, can I store the chainsaw completely upright -- or will it leak? Thanks so much!

    • @peterchema8251
      @peterchema8251 Год назад

      You do not have to drain the oil. It is just to lubricate the chain and will not go bad and will not leak.

      I used a 100' long 14 gauge extension cord with mine, and had plenty of power. If you step down to smaller 16 gauge, you might end up with enough of a voltage drop that it cuts much slower though.
