It’s a sexy song but it’s technically about “compulsion”, basically the chokehold their respective work has on the both of them. They talk about it in the SKZ song camp howling in harmony videos. So you’re pretty spot on with your reflection mirror and addiction theory.
For me, knowing how many hours Chan works in the studio, seeing red lights when he closes his eyes to me makes me think of the lights on a soundboard and laptop lights, the red recording light.

I'm especially proud of these two because I feel like they were able to prove themselves.
Hyunjin is known to be a fabulous dancer, bang Chan is fantastic in producing, writing and is obviously part of 3racha but their vocals are often overlooked.
So I'm glad they, were able to show a new, more mature side and their amazing vocals

It's about their obsession with their craft....the hold it has on them.
this isnt the first time the members have went into units. In the IN LIFE album, the respective units have songs: WOW (Danceracha), My Universe (Vocalracha ft Changbin) & WE GO (3racha). In the NOEASY album, the units are Red Lights (Bang Chan & Hyunjin), Surfin' (Changbin, Lee Know & Felix) and Gone Away (Han, Seungmin & I.N). The theme for Red Lights is something Stray Kids has never done and its something Hyunjin and Chan wanted to try. So, 12M views for a b-side is very good so dont worry😅 If u watch SKZ Song Camp: Howl in Harmony, you will see the whole process of how these unit songs and music videos were made. the MVs were all planned by the members which is pretty cool. I cant wait for the next unit songs in the next album and see which members get to work together.
I'm surprised you haven't done Miroh yet, because it's an absolute party banger, and the song with which they have won their very first award.
Also, I recommend checking Battleground, once they will have released an M/V or dance video. It's fresh from the last album, aired on february 2023, and they gone METAL, what's not to like about Stray Kids gone Metal!! Definitely check it out.
This song always makes me think about that kind of obsessive relationship that has you in a “chokehold”. You can’t sleep or do anything without getting pulled back into that other person. And it’s not necessarily healthy but the vibe of this song is pretty visceral.

Hi Pete! glad u enjoyed red lights! let me introduce u closer to the meaning and backstory of the song. The original title 강박 can be translate as “compulsion” which is more accurate to the actual meaning of the song. Stray Kids had their own little serie on yt called “Howl in harmony” where they were creating songs in 3 units:
1 unit: Han, Seungmin, I.N. ~ emotional ballad
2 unit: Lee Know, Changbin, Felix ~ summer vibe rnb song
3 unit: Bang Chan, Hyunjin ~ sexy song
They all were explaining their thoughts and what they want to achieve/show through those songs in a couple episodes. That’s why that was much easier for us to understand what is eg. Red Lights about. The song is about your own compulsions, fighting with yourself and not being able to stop (doing something), but at the same time u enjoying it. It can be about anything. For Chan that was about being a workaholic and not being able to control himself from it. But yes, their intention was to make it looks and sounds really sexy. I'm laughing rn but honestly...yeah you got it spot on... they all have a heavy hold on what they do and like no one get sleep... I mean their up all times at night..chan has insomnia and yee... so its a really good song. And the other sub units of songs are good too... but they were told to split off and they got to choose between sexy, hyunjin and channie- ballad(gone away-sad), hannie, seungmin and jeongin. And then the summer(surfin. Its all really good... I love them all I swear. They deserve the world

In skz song camp howl in harmony episode 3, Chan and Hyunjin talk about what they want the song to be about and you hit it on the nail. It’s about 2 sides of themselves and that’s why the dancing is reflected and their wearing black and white. That’s also why they’re looking at
themselves in the mirror at the end.

I loved this album from stray kids sooo much because its the only album from anyone where i can't pick a favourite song.
The song is great and it really has the 'sexual tension' vibe they were going for. Like you said, the guitar riffs go great with the other intrumentals and i hope they make another song like this
