Heading to the library now to get: 1. The story telling animal 2. Wired for story 3. The story factor 4. On writing a memoir of the craft 5. Made to stick
When my mom recently passed away I threw myself into reading a TON. I've read over 200 books in the last year and I can definitely see it's impact on my writing. P.S. For copywriters besides reading good fiction and non fiction, reading good marketing copy regularly is a game changer. 💛
I'm sorry about your loss. It's good that you decided to read more. I'm improving my writing skills (only a hobby but I want to work on it) What genre do you like to read?
I love reading supernatural fiction. But at the moment, I'm reading QBQ - the question behind the question. It's a great book about personal accountability.
Another good one is How to Tell A Story, The Essential Guide to Memorable Storytelling from The Moth. I love the podcast and when I saw this book on the shelves I picked it up immediately.
Was at Malaprops bookstore and saw they also made a gorgeous gamified version of the book in a deck of cards. 100 themes with 350 prompts for sharing life stories. It's been a great way for me to get jump started in songwriting as well. Highly recommend!
Alex - what about sustainable copywriting? It's really difficult to spread awareness about negative stuff while also encouraging people to take action on issues. Maybe this could be a topic for your next video?
Thanks! Just discovered your channel and appreciate how loaded with value this is. Subscribed ✅ I’m losing major weight and started vlogging… but I need help making my ideas more concise. I’ll definitely be diving into some of these books. 😊
Girl! HOW did you forget Bird by Bird - by Anne LaMott??? Stephen Kings book 'On Writing' is amazing! It is near by laptop (along with Bird by BIrd) whenever I am working on my manuscript.
Hi! If someone has the second book, please help me. I want it so much, but I'm from Brazil and now I Don't have this cash. And I don't now where I can find this books... Help..
Teach me how to write to you lol, you are so intelligent beautiful I had to watch your most recent content having first seen your old videos. Thumbs up
Hey Alex, Thank you for sharing your inspiring informational video. It was all great. I have a suggestion to the video in this way. At around @6:30 when you said "... ideas that fly", the volume on my computer was higher and almost buzzed my hearing for a while. You got too emotional and said the word "fly" so weirdly. Hope you don't mind. If you hadn't told it a little louder that would be so great.
Like 99% of books on my shelves are ALL fiction, mainly in the YA genre. Because who doesn't love reading drama unfolding in front of you, as long you are not the one involved inside, right?
But this does not change the fact that in Antarctica there are 21 million penguins and in Malta there are 502,653 inhabitants. So if the penguins decide to invade Malta, each Maltese will have to fight 42 penguins.
No reason! That was a different video and I like to give out new recommendations, rather than the same ones over and over again. Save The Cat is a great book and I still recommend reading it :)

What genre do you like to read?
Daniel Thrussell has been killing it just because he does quirky stories. Really opened my eyes. I never think about storytelling when I write.

I started reading fiction but got so absorbed I had to yank myself out of it! Fiction is addictive lol
For a reason I guess :D
That means you could learn a lot from it! ;)
Thank you, Alex! This was great and so insightful. 😊
love this Alex

Must newbie read all the books or should read one and later and go pick another one after awhile?
No need to read all of them :) I would say pick the one that resonates the most with you and go from there!
