- PREDICT your height based off your PARENTS’ height with this equation 🤯 ⬇️⬇️⬇️ Have you heard of this equation before? We learned something similar in medical school but as you can imagine it is not 100% accurate all the time I for one am SHORTER than predicted whereas my husband is WAY TALLER than his prediction I can only hope my son takes after his father 😄 For girls 👧🏻 Average your mom’s height with (your dad’s height minus 5 inches) For boys 👦🏻 Average your dad’s height with (your mom’s height plus 5 inches) I am supposed to be 5’1.5” and I think that would have been awesome 😂 My husband was supposed to be 5’7” or 5’8” but instead he’s 6’1”! 😃 How does your predicted height compare to your ACTUAL height?! For my daughter it was spot on. For my sons it estimated incorrectly because they are both around 1+/- inch from my husbands height 6’2”. I am 5’3”
If this is true then im 3-4 inches shorter than my genetics predicted

Just as a comment - the expression of genetic height is on a distribution with the mean being the mid parental height and the standard deviation being about an inch and a half. So about 95% of kids should be within 3 inches (up or down) of their mid parental height.
this is just reassuring me that I’m way shorter than I’m supposed to be loll
My mother: 5'9
My father: 5'10
Me: 6'3
My siblings all fall in the normal range, but I'm quite a bit taller. An ex-girlfriend's family was all over the place, she was actually close to the predicted height given both of her short parents, but her sister was average height (and therefore a lot taller than her), and all three of her brothers were 6', towering over their parents.

According to this video, I'm roughly 1-1.5 inches taller than I'm supposed to be, and my brother has outperformed his genetic destiny by a whopping 3 inches. Parents are 5'5" and 5'10"

Kind of dumb, genetics is far from the only factor in height.
Genetics contribute to about 80-85% of variation in height
