Amazing tech. But if you don't know how to use it, like for someone who is renting a machine and doesn't have a grade plan, it's worthless, I guess.

+f150bc Check out the Komatsu intelligent machines. Their interface is so much easier than this and the screen is touch screen... besides that you're not staring between your knees to see your screen.
why is cat not making it easy ...like Komatsu..

These things dumb down an operator. A good operator can maintain grade by eye.

An operator thats been in a seat for years can. out grade and faster then someone using grade control. They got on grade for a lot of years before this was invented just by setting stakes using level.
Setting stakes and using a level is a waste of time and money. You clearly don't get it.
Keep up or get left behind. It ain’t just about keeping grade anymore!!
Eric Johnston if you think that learning how to use the GPS system efficiently is dumbing down you are uninformed and the costs of getting a Surveyer in to stake everything makes the GPS system superior in the long run.
