      @adamdrakestudio well everybody's mind works differently, maybe this was news to me? You don't know that. You didn't have to read this comment that was your own choice just like it was my own free choice to write it. And since when is it ever bad to show gratitude to someone for being helpful? I have had an Eyelead SCK-1 for 8 years and used on my Nikons without any issue. It is very similar to the cleaner used by Leica cleaning centres so if it is good enough for them then who am I to question.. Whatever you clean your sensor with, be it wet or dry don't worry the protective glass is quite durable and of course enjoy your dust free images.

    I second that statement about the shelf life of the cleaning solution! Oh man, I had some troubles recently when I had to clean an Alexa35 sensor glass with a bad fluid that would not clean for the life of me. I ended using up 8 swaps and had only two left. It was horrible because I did it the late evening before the shoot and had no other cleaning fluid. I had to sort to 93% denatured bioethanol from the local late-night mart. Not the best, but the sensor glass got clean without any residue.

    • @evawat2019

    Recommend an air bulb with a filtered air intake, such as the VisibleDust Zeeion or the Falcon-S outdoor air blower. Otherwise you are blowing dusty air back onto the sensor. Also, as someone previously mentioned here, tilt the camera down when blowing the sensor off so dust and fibers don't fall back in. Helpful to clean the lens mount first, and to look into corner swabs prior to cleaning the actual sensor so that nothing from outside the sensor recontaminates the sensor itself. Took me a while to get used to how much pressure is good pressure, so the slight bend comment was helpful. The hardest part is reminding people to actually check the sensor and keep the port cover on. This one time an Arri camera back with a leaf on the.... yikes...

  • @monztermovies

    It’s wise to hold your camera with the sensor facing down allowing gravity to take the particles away from the inside of the camera body when blowing it out.

    Now we need one for lenses. But also some recomended brands for it. I've bought some kits that seemed a bit flimsy. Even with Zeiss wipes it leaves dust and sometimes just smears the grease. The microfiber cloth works ok until it's washed or until it gathers enough grease... Haven't really found a good solution.

  • @JorenVaes
    @JorenVaes Год назад

    I think the statement 'you don't start to see that debris until you stop down' is only valid for dust inside the optics or on internal ND filters etc. If you have actual dust on the sensor, it should be so close to the sensor that you will see it regardless of the iris opening.
    In the case of cine cameras, I believe you often have an additional piece of glass between the front of the sensor assembly and the actual outside world (clearly visible at 2:12) where, if you do have dust there, it is sufficiently far away to not show up wide-open.

    I also use sensor swaps, but before I wet-clean a sensor, I lightly vacuum it with a special setup I have created. This way, I ensure that I don't scratch the camera's sensor during the process. I also vacuum the inside of the camera carefully, again with the special hose/device I have made. This is because if there is dust on the sensor, there is likely dust inside the camera housing, and it's just a matter of time before there is dust on the sensor again.

    Personally I’d avoid what looks like the ‘Pancro Lens Cleaner’ (I believe on the table next to the Kimtech (green) lens tissues).
    Pancro is Isopropyl Alcohol (from their MSDS), and this can damage coatings on the front element of lenses.
    I understand that it’s often easy to use this mid production, but where possible (or I’d recommend): air, soft brush, & lastly, distilled water with cotton swabs (in small circular motions from the centre outwards), has been my go to. It’s not necessarily a quick process, but as said in this video, the less you touch the glass (with anything! And that includes a cleaning processes), the better.
    Thanks for a cool video on lens cleaning 🙌

    I wouldn't recommend anyone to clean the sensor in this way. The first step is air, the second step is the brush end of a clean lenspen, followed by air again, and repeat it. After that, use a brand new microfiber cloth with a very small amount of lens cleaning fluid. The mistake is made in the video because these tools make no sense at all. If it happens to pick up any dirt, this 'sensor cleaning tool' will smoothly roll it across the glass surface, and then you'll have to watch the consequences. So, stick to a completely ordinary, unopened microfiber cloth and wipe the sensor with a sweeping motion over as large a surface as possible. Don't press down on it, as shown in the video; just gently swipe it away. I can't describe it precisely, but rather imagine that if there's a grain of sand on the glass, you shouldn't press on it; however, you can gently swipe it away.

    • @taylorhickman84

      Microfiber cloth is not much different than a swab other than costing more and not reaching in the corners.

    • @babmate
      @babmate Год назад

      @@taylorhickman84 it's just physics, the surface formed by this "sensorcleaner tool" is very small. you can make it much bigger with a microfiber cloth. for the corners, combine a peace of plastic sheet and a microfiber cloth... be creative.
