- Finally, after 7 months of hard work, me and the fellow animators of CHARA finally completed this absolute master piece. Everyone devoted so much effort into this! Without all of you guys, this MAP would not come into reality!
I believe that we all know Prince Arctic to some degree. Most of us probably know him as 'The dragon who suffered the most gruesome death in Wings of Fire', or the 'Terrible dad in Wings of Fire'...etc. So I thought it would be nice to create a non-canon side for him to look upon his past faults, regrets, and torture which led to him becoming that malicious individual.

Hello everyone! Merry Christmas to those who celebrate it. For those who don't, here is a Wings Of Fire MAP to spice your day up!
Due to the description has already reached max word amount, I have to clarify certain things here in the comments:
- Due to complications during editing, the quality of this map didn't turn out as good as I imagined. My editor was extremely laggy, and I had trouble fixing some glitches while meeting the due date at the same time. So PLEASE don't comment down below just to point out those minor mistakes. Because I am aware of them, and I tried my best to minimize them as much as possible.
- QuenGren helped with Cougar Coast's part in part 9, I have given them full credit in the description!
- At the end of the thumbnail credits, starting from 10:03, there are 4 anonymous thumbnail entries, if you know any of the artists or if you are one of them, comment down below and I'll be sure to credit you in this comment. Apologize for being disorganized.

Is this the longest WoF map? I think this is the longest WoF map. It's longer than "This is War" and "Life is fun". Even without the thumbnail and parts at the end it's over 5 minutes.
I'd imagine that is why there were rendering problems!
But truly, if you cut this in half, it would be two of the top ten maps, but together, this is an over packed demonstration of the wide range of styles and talents that the WoF community has to offer, and I couldn't be more proud of what everyone has been able to make, and the editors that are able to put it all together.

I feel like Arctic needs more attention. He went through so much, feeling the pressure of his cruel mom weighing down on him, and his tribe not letting him love who he wants. And the fact where his cousin Snowfox is so terrible to him. That’s why this forced Arctic to believe the superiority of his tribe, making him look down on Darkstalker, thinking Whiteout is strange and literally enchanted her to go back to the ice kingdom. Arctic and Foeslayer fought a lot, then he was mentally getting attacked by his mother, then he went crazy and got mind controlled by his own son, making him rip himself. Arctic had a horrible life, if only his and Foeslayer’s family had settled down, I bet they would have had a happy life, especially Darkstalker and Whiteout, and that Darkstalker could happily marry Clearsight when they were older. Arctic was mentally abused, which spread that action on his son. So he really needed comfort.
Diamond being terrible cause Arctic’s death, Snowflake’s injury, Darkstalker becoming cruel, the nightwing and IceWing war, the animus bloodline being wiped from IceWing genetics, Arctic being abusive and Darkstalker being transformed
Arctic just needs a hug.

Arctic had it unfair, there's no doubt about it. He was born with a gift-turned-curse that his evil power-hungry mother/queen would keep him slaved for her own desires to exploit. He would be put in an arranged marriage with someone who simply satisfied his mother's tastes and not his own. He was going to live an empty life that would be decided for him, so one day he tried to run away with someone who would make him happy. But society didn't want that. The whole kingdom tried to force him back with the system. The only way to escape misery was by taking desperate measures. He used his power to help him run away at any cost, but the price was devastating. He committed a horrible action in a moment of panic and desperation that was never forgiven or explained. And just like that, a simple misunderstanding led to a war that would last for 2000 years before truly being settled. On top of that, the impact of his accident would never heal, and his soul would never be at peace.
Quite a tragic story... but what would have happened if Arctic didn't leave the IceWings? What if he was still happy? What if he lived a satisfying life and never ran away? In the distant future, Pyrrhia would not be as glorious as it is. There would be two possible outcomes. Either the IceWings would one day decide and succeed to overrun the other tribes and take over the rest of the continent with their many generations of animus gifts, or the Nightwings would do the same with their many generations of trained mindreading and futureseeing powers. Arctic's actions actually kept both tribes at bay. Because of him the IceWings no longer had any animus dragons, and because of his son the NightWings no longer had any dragons with OP powers. Neither tribe ever ended up having too much power to tip the balance. Artic may have done things he regretted for himself and the world he knew, but in the long run, he saved the seven tribes of Pyrrhia.
His misery was not in vain after all.

The IceWings do have animus' though. They've just been enormously unlucky for the thousands of years. You can't just wipe out the royal bloodline- they all have the gene. Just something I find interesting :3

I always loved Arctic as a character, his past regrets made him a dragon who made a lot of mistakes and hurt people even tho at first he only wanted freedom. This MAP seemed as an incredible idea at first and it didn't disappoint me! I'm so happy I could be a part of this and be among us all great animators

I came up with an AU inspired by this: Instead of Arctic dieing, right before he dies Darkstalker enchants him to relive his crimes for a thousand years (key word is Thousand) and to live as long as Forslayer lives (as a punishment of knowing she's alive but not knowing where she is or who she changed into) but Arctic makes it through the thousand years of watching himself go insane, he realizes what he's done and changes but he goes crazy in a different way. One day, he suddenly wakes up, he gets up and it's been a thousand years, he's confused but he's not dead nor alive. He can fly around and touch objects but he can't interact with other dragons and he can't be hurt or healed (he has a scar on his stomach and his tongue is still gone but he can talk). He flies around, looking at how much things have changed but when he gets to the Ice Kingdom, he notices a strange thing called "The Diamond Trail" be brought up, he follows 2 dragons into the cave and then he sees Foeslayer. Darkstalker, had added something on top of the first enchantment realizing that Arctic could live longer then he had orginally thought which was that if Arctic saw Foeslayer or Darkstalker, that he would lose the ability to talk around them but also only be able to interact with them (Punishment of trying to talk but it's like you have your mouth sewn shut) Foeslayer is the only one at this time who can see him and tries to interact with him but she has to fight as well. A thousand years later, Foeslayer is saved by Winter and Arctic follows them, the story goes pretty much the same here except that Arctic takes Foeslayer to the Old Night Kingdom, and shows her the damage that Darkstalker is doing (Darkstalker doesn't know they're there) *This is just a brief summary but I'll add more details and explanations for it all later and also the reason why Darkstalker keeps Arctic alive is to torment him, and give him a fate worse then death but it backfires.*

Like, holy crap this is good, I love it, but there's a lot of emotion behind it. I personally really liked Arctic, despite all the stuff he did. Yeah he was kind of a terrible parent and was super defensive about stuff and definitely had some anger problems, but he did at least try, and in Darkstalker's book it did say he loved Foeslayer, which is why he left with Whiteout. I definitely say he didn't deserve that fate, though it is what it is, and y'know what, I think I could really see a situation like this MAP showed happening in whatever afterlife the dragons go to

Wait... Does the ending mean that since Darkstalker is turned into Peacemaker he erased Arctic from his mind and so this means that his life was completely useless?
His life wasn't "completely useless" but yeah that probably is what that was
Foeslayer is still alive tho. She's going under the name Hope now. I don't think she had her memories erased.
Well, his efforts weren't exactly worthless but they did much more harm than good. The Icewings no longer have animus magic (which is a neutral thing on its own) but he inadvertently started a war and made Darkstalker so it wasn't useless but certainly not good (if there is anything else that I didnt include feel free to ask)
@@coffeewolf5789 yeah, but was getting rid of animus dragons in the Icewing Tribe that bad? And Darkstalker’s action prevented the Nightwings from becoming unstoppable, so in the long run, they both stopped two tribes who would’ve very well become problematic

I am going to CRY that was so good and immersive like on my lord! I seriously love how many parts transition so well into the next and the way it flows. (Also the part at 4:30 blew my MIND I gasped when watching it, it was incredible) it was such a great opportunity to participate in this, Ebony, your maps are always so thoughtful and exciting!
So at the end did Arctic end up erasing his memories, or did he end up erasing himself from the past, or the memories of his family and/or everyone who knew him?
Edit: Or erasing their past together, so they'd only stayed apart, or just their memories together.
Edit: I think he was actually erasing his memories, because from the start of the song he's laying down with a bunch of blue balls, then goes through his memories and 'erases' them, ending by laying down and the memories are the balls.
Also another thing I noticed, Foeslayer fading away could symbolize her ending up being taken away but I feel like it also can symbolize they can't spend the afterlife together, at least at that moment because she wasn't actually dead. It might've even been her being woken up for a Diamond Trial
I think he was sort of detaching himself from the past and coming to terms with death, but idk. I guess the point is that its up to your interpretation.
Or maybe it's about when darkstalker became peacemaker?
@@emmautterback3927 Maybe but this MAP was Arctic focused, not Darkstalker focused, so it's unlikely that this was him connecting to Darkstalker to erase his memories, or it'd probably have Clearsight and Fathom and all them, not Arctic and Foeslayer. But good idea!

The end of the map was so deep, all of it was deep but especially the end.
aaa no I missed the premiere ;-;
my part (5:40) is half a year old at this point but IT TURNED OUT SO GOOD!! The animators clearly put so much hard work and time into their parts, the thumbnail entries were all beautiful, and the concept is so freaking amazing!! Even the little things like how the outro is made up of the little “memories” really make this MAP absolutely stunning, and everyone who had a part in it should be so proud. 💕💗
My future seeing abilities tell me this will be amazing

(also tysm for letting me be a part of this project, never thought that it would ever happen) I think I just can't express how astonished I am by all the work everyone put into this project!!
It's a little sad that it all came to an end, but still it's one of the most beautiful MAPs ever existed! Outstanding job!!
This had me close to crying, ngl. I love how Arctic is characterized here, and even though he was a factor in Darkstalker going mad, I can’t help but feel horrible for him in this MAP... Arctic was essentially left to rot away in the Night Kingdom, and forgotten as the years went by. That being said, everyone did such an amazing job capturing the emotion in each part. 💙

Being a fan of Undertale, Glitchtale, and wings of fire I adore this
Oh my god- this MAP was amazing!! The song fits Arctic so well! I was very hyped up once I saw it go onto premier mode, and it was so fun to watch so now I just felt like I had to say that this is literally SUCH a creative concept! It definitely seems like an interesting headcanon/fanfiction of what went on in Arctic’s mind(?) after he died. I feel like just re-animating canon events, though it’s very great and all, just gets old, and that’s why it’s so cool to see more unique MAPs, where you get to see what’s going on in certain characters’ minds. Like this one, or in Peacemaker’s Echo, for instance. It’s just so creative! (This is way longer than I thought this comment would be oops) And also the fact that there’s almost FIFTY talented artists?!? Woah! Ebony’s art is amazing as always, Biohazardia’s was gorgeous, Lunala’s Mask’s art really stood out to me too (it sort of reminds me a bit of my own art style) since the emotions were all just captured so well! Fantastic job, everyone!
I wish very much that Darkstalker looked through his father's memory, what he endured, what he suffered, what made Arctic what he was. Maybe he would have a better relationship with him. If he had known better about his dad.

This is a absolutely wonderful map, and it is a wonder that you have been able to make two iconic MAPs (to the bone and this). Arctic has always been one of my favorite character, due to his personality and tragic backstory, and this map showed everything I wanted. It met up to wonderful standards, whatever you say about the editing, it’s awesome.

I have seen many wof maps and this just takes my breath away I don't see any mistakes notable by the bare eye unless the are taking about a single miss placed frame from time to time but that is normal even professionals do I have been looking with frame scans and I've never seen such I beautiful thing
This is really really good, honestly, the audio and animation, and how long the video actually is... it was completely worth the wait. Words can't describe how amazed I am with this, even the credits are good, most people don't like credits, I don't like the credits, but here I am watching them. This was really good! It diserves a spot in my downloads. Amazing.

Everyone put in so much effort into their parts n it's such a joy to be now able to watch them all back to back to create such great narrative.
You did great job Ebony with scripting of the MAP, and the whole idea of "afterlife" with the flashbacks. Those scenes really punched one right in the feels along with the masterfully done art scenes @ start n the end, and one can't neglect to mention Storm and his help with editing the beautiful outro.

This all put together is AMAZING! The animation is so good! Everyone has a different, and awesome, art style, but that is the thing which makes it magnificent! THIS IS JUST AMAZING!
Ok, arctics death was bad.. but he’s maybe second most gruesome. People always forget about tortoises death, I wish I could.. that image scarred me for life when her death came up

Ok I know multiple comments can get annoying but-
I’m rewatching this again, and crying ridiculously hard- I really want to hive poor Arctic and also Darkstalker a hug. Both of them did awful things they regret, and neither ever meant to cause the harm they did. Does anyone else seriously want to just give Arctic a hug right now?
Darkstalker and Arctic did bad things but they weren’t evil like many people consider them to be

Arctic had such a sad death, his tongue being chopped out and his stomach opened! I have not read Darkstalker yet, but I know plenty about his death! And he lost Foeslayer, the one he loved, I just wanna cry rn
im pretty confident this is the best wings of fire map ever-
I have not read the winglets yet but I think there was a tad love for Darkstalker and Whiteout in Arctic because he refused to kill his own kids. Or he didn’t do it because it would have broken Foeslayer’s heart. Just a guess
I swear, every single time I watch this, it feels like a movie.

Ik I said it enough times on discord but I forgot to comment on this masterpiece. Everyone did so good i just can't stop watching it! Tui should have really gone into Arctic's backstory more instead of making him look like the worst dad in legends. (I never read runaways but I will soon,this kinda spoiled it for me a bit but not much.) This map really turned out amazing and im really glad to be a part of it.
