  • Replacing the headlight bulbs on the Skoda Fabia Mk2.
I replaced the Osram Nightbreakers with Bosch Plus 90 and compare them.

Thanks for the saying that the connecting wires are at the top. Spent over an hour trying to fit the bulb on the left.

Great vid. I have to remark though that for me the wire needed to me facing downwards. It took me litteraly an hour, broken skin and a scratched bulb to realise this. It should go in with ease. No force needed.

Super helpful video - watched several of these and yours was the most helpful. Thank you.

Thanks for the video it helped a lot, very difficult if you have big hand like I do.
I ended up using an open ended spanner wedged onto the plastic bulb holder on the flat side and between the wires, this allowed me to apply inward force and also turn the bulb when putting it back in. Probably not a recommended method but it was the only way I could get the holder back in.

In the prpper workshop manual it says on no account to touch the two torx screws on the holder. Several times I've had to loosen them a bit, then twist the bulb and holder into place. and then re-tighten the screws. It doesn't help that there's so little room. I suppose at least it's better than some VAG models where you have to remove the bumper to change a bulb.

Great, this works for my Fabia Mk2 whereas top hit on RUclips for Mk2 seems to be for a completely different retaining arrangement.

I think they changed it some time in 2010.

Thanks for the vid. Complete car diy novice here but I changed the bulb. Luckily it was not the one next to the battery. Took a while to get it out though. It was really stuck in there.

This is the perfect video for me, but it took a ridiculous amount of force to twist it anti-clockwise out and the holder absolutely refuses to twist back in again with the wires at either top or bottom. Driving me up the wall.

I do remember one of them being a mission to get back into place! Not something I hope to do very often!

I just ordered these bulbs - how have you found them since you made the video?

They have been pretty good. I would say not a massive difference from the Osram Nightbreakers. These are much cheaper too.

Just did it. After watching the vid i knew i had to turn clockwise. Came out lovely. I had to prize the bulb out with a flat bladed screwdriver! Trying to put it back in the headlight was a right pain. Doesn't help i am left handed, then found out the wiring has to be at the top! Tried that, went in lovely!!! All working now, phew!
