I went from the life of the party for all my adult life. At 57 I retired and have been in solitude since. I am very comfortable without others. Just my dog and I ❤
Hey Travis. Great video. I’m 57, ER doctor, married, and this video really resonated with me. I have a good marriage of 22 yrs, but I absolutely love my alone time, or alone time with my dog. Alone time is what energizes me. I too have no problem sitting at a restaurant by myself when my wife is working. And I actually love going to movies by myself. I couldn’t care less what other people think about it. As the years pass, I just have less tolerance for people in general. When I am alone, I have space. I can breathe. I can decompress. Thanks for this video.
Deep down I think I was always happiest being alone, but when I was younger getting with someone was what you did. After 40 years of marriage, my wife divorced me (long story) and have now been on my own for 3 years. No kids, no real friends. But, I have never been happier. There is something about self reliance, building confidence, learning how to look after one's self alone which has been something of a pleasant surprise. Freedom to do as I wish...when, where, how...and have only my self to answer to. I love my life now and living in the present. Thanks for your thoughts my friend.
I thought it was just me who craves alone time, and have for years. Because I could not satisfy this primal need, I started feeling trapped - for the longest time.

Now I'm old. When I was younger from time to time I would feel lonely. And oddly those times didn't coincide with actually being alone. But as I got older I felt no longer invested in friendship. I don't have anything against it it's just a general lack of interest. I don't get lonely. Other people are annoying. Why are they always talking about nothing? And at the same time they have no listening skills. Give up on saying anything beyond two sentences they'll interrupt because it's a verbal competition. Loud mouths win. On the other hand there's my cats. They're the best. They're all fluffy and cute n stuff.

I lost my job this past April; so i decided to go spend time in Florida visiting my siblings and all their children. I went alone, no wife, no kids (they are grown but live with us). Something very scary happened: all my siblings were busy going about their lives, so I was basically alone for the vast majority of my trip.. here’s the scary part; I enjoyed that week more than any other week in my life (and we’ve traveled to many places as a family). But I enjoyed just being alone so much that it scared me to death. I find myself longing for more alone time, and not a day or two
Strangely it seems society projects this idea that if you are alone. Enjoy being alone. A loner. Then you’re stigmatized as being odd or not normal. I love my solitude. I find true peace in it.
I have given up on people. I don't have the energy to filter through people to decide who I can trust. Most people want too much and give back nothing. Most people can not be trusted. I love being alone for a while, but i enjoy my husbands company because it's comfortable. It's not a lot of work and because i just generally like him.
Good point on the topic. Some personalities require (must have) silence, solitude, isolation who are strong introverts etc; of which brings much needed peace.
I married when I was 40. Before that I was alone a lot...travelled alone and livrd alone...you are right. I often miss driving through my sub continent of Southern Africa...by bike or by truck...all alone....meeting new people...finding new things...out there but also in one self
That sounds like a beautiful life! But there’s a lot to be said for sharing it with a partner. And you can always take a weekend for that treasured alone time. Thanks from watching and responding! I appreciate you.

As an introvert, solitude is part of my craving. I get it. I feel guilty sometimes in not spending enough time with my kids. All of my past sexual partners, including the mother of my kids drove me nuts wanting me in their space 24/7.
I agree 100%. I'm married with two kids but every Sunday morning, I spend 2-3 hours alone just walking around the neighborhood or just have breakfast by myself. And whenever we go on a vacation, I always wake up early and walk around the hotel by myself before everyone else wake up.
True. All it takes is a very short period of time around people and I want to be alone again. Having a dog around isn't really being alone. They pay a ridiculous amount of attention to you.
@@TravisDoingLife My neighbor's dog comes by all the time. He definitely wants something when he shows up. Attention. I have a good amount to give, for a while. Then it would be nice to be alone. I can't send him away though because I care about how he feels. Same issue as with humans, heh, heh. If you don't already meditate I'm pretty sure you would benefit from the practice.
Your are never alone you have your friends and family always there for you. Just cause you don’t wake up to woman laying next you doesn’t mean your alone. I'm more afraid of being with other humans even though I'm very friendly and personable. However, I'm now tired of being alone but it has to be someone I totally connect with. That's hard to find, but otherwise I'm not giving up my alone time. I'm 60. Likely will never happen lol. And that's ok. I'm wonderful and happy alone.
@@TravisDoingLifeThank you for the encouragement Travis. I'm a young 60. There is being alone away from other humans but still having a dog friend and your earbuds in, and then there is alone with nothing but the screaming silence of nature where you can hear your own heart beating and breaths taken which to me is truly alone ;)
My only wife ran off with a friend 30 years ago.. I pumped and dumped manySince but never remarried thank goodness.. NEVER even came close to it... Best times of my life... I go where I want, when I want, do what I want, etc..... Its great...
I live in the mountains of Montana and really enjoy it. And because I love looking at nature the trees the animals and everything none human. I am never alone. If I want to hike for many miles any time of the day or go out hiking around at night with a flashlight. Or do nothing at all I have nobody bothering me adking me to go to some place I do not want to go. Go visit people I could care less of seeing but acting like I am having a good time. It is not for everyone which is good because then if it was I would have neighbors all around me. And could not be alone even living in the mountains. 😊
@TravisDoingLife I have been to many places on this planet. Many different states and countries. But living in the mountains of Montana for me is the best. Not physically easy if the weather goes bad sometimes in the winter. But still would be rather trapped on a mountain with a nice wood stove going watching the deer and other animals that come and sit by my home out the window. Then shovel out a driveway in a city anytime with the lovely snowplow trucks giving that extra snow at the end of it. And watch and hearing all the cars. And definitely not a life to be with a wife complaining about every little thing driving me nuts and wishing she would shut up and go away and leave me alone.😱😊
So true, getting older n older, I just feel that I need my me time on my own away from any crowds. I'm not married and will not get married. I just knew from the very beginning that I'm good at sharing with anybody. Maybe it's time that I set out my journey in alone time now.
@TravisDoingLife Yes, couldn't agree more. Being alone is ok, but feeling lonely is terrible. Yes I have several friends even though they live far away.
I notice that people who have access to others appreciate being alone. A question: What if you have no one? No family, no friends? Would you still feel the same way?
@@SighDown I was just thinking about this and maybe going on camera to talk about it. It’s a really thought provoking question. I think a circle of close friends is pretty important.
Im 59 and after a 23yr span of 2 marriages and manyrelationships that were the same, dogs are best! If i found a woman that could monogamously be happy with herself and enjoy life together im 7:00 in but i believe that is just a dream at this point.
I almost was ready to move in with a girl over the summer and was bummed when it ended. Looking back i really dodged a bullet. I'm a diy speaker builder and have all my stereo equipment and speakers and I would have had to get rid of them because there was no room. Also I love to eat healthy and workout and she said why do you have to look perfect your not single and she eats like shit has no healthy food in her fridge. I would be so miserable giving up my own place after the honeymoon was over
This is coo! My dad is a stereo guy. My mom puts up with it 😆 Here’s video that was made about his collection: ruclips.net/video/7RcMTbNO2Ls/видео.html
@TravisDoingLife thanks man. I think she would have dealt with it eventually when we got a bigger place. But she was going through a divorce and there was a lot of red flags that I ignored at first
I’ve always needed to be alone-even when I was married and with a young family. Now I live alone and it feels completely natural. Of course I wish my landlords would permit cats, but other than an animal companion, it’s totally fine.
@TravisDoingLife I have friends from my sobriety group, and I have other friends spread out across the U.S.. There is no true love or emotion in my heart, so marriage won't be happening.
I guess we all have different versions of what alone is. There cool! And yeah, I definitely make silly videos sometimes. But they’re always from the heart. Always working on improving!
One thing i know is that I'm alone but sure don't feel alone i felt alone when i had girlfriend and her kid and then my freinds always giving my time to others no one was ever happy made me miserable.
That’s such a good point… being surrounded by the wrong people can be more alienating than being by yourself. Thanks the insight and for watching, I hope to see you back here!

My only wife ran off with a friend 30 years ago.. I pumped and dumped manySince but never remarried thank goodness.. NEVER even came close to it... Best times of my life... I go where I want, when I want, do what I want, etc..... Its great...
Ultimate freedom! 🙌🏼
Being alone not bad you will discover many things and will develop resilience and thicker skin generally also it brings peace to your life
Agreed! 🙌🏼
I am married but we give each other space to be ourselves.
So important! Gives me hope to hear this.
Can I come visit? 😆
I love Montana!
I love being alone, I've spent a lifetime of being the consummate leader of the pack and party. Done with it. Life continues either way.
Enjoy your you time, sounds like you’ve earned it 🙌🏼
So true, getting older n older, I just feel that I need my me time on my own away from any crowds. I'm not married and will not get married. I just knew from the very beginning that I'm good at sharing with anybody. Maybe it's time that I set out my journey in alone time now.
I understand completely. I do hope you have a few close people in your life. Being alone is beautiful, feeling lonely not so much
@TravisDoingLife Yes, couldn't agree more. Being alone is ok, but feeling lonely is terrible. Yes I have several friends even though they live far away.
@ always here if you want/need to chat
@@TravisDoingLife Thank you, Travis. It's very kind of you. And I enjoy watching your RUclips videos. 🙏🙏🙏
@ thanks so much! Many more to come
I notice that people who have access to others appreciate being alone. A question: What if you have no one? No family, no friends? Would you still feel the same way?
@@SighDown I was just thinking about this and maybe going on camera to talk about it. It’s a really thought provoking question. I think a circle of close friends is pretty important.
I have a partner and when we have the days away from each other it's heaven, quiet, peaceful and stress free.
That’s great to hear. Might be the secret to a happy relationship!
@@TravisDoingLife Sure is, plus there's no cohabitation which makes it a plus as well.
I can’t wait to get home and hang with my dogs. We hike in the desert almost everyday and never see another human and it’s glorious
That’s a beautiful life! Thanks for watching and sharing.
Great video Travis 🎉
Thank you for watching!
Im 59 and after a 23yr span of 2 marriages and manyrelationships that were the same, dogs are best! If i found a woman that could monogamously be happy with herself and enjoy life together im 7:00 in but i believe that is just a dream at this point.
I hope it happens for you! Thanks for watching, I hope to see you here again.
Every season has a lesson
Truth
While I’m listening I realized that I want to build and live in a mountain ❤
That’s a good life!
I am my own best company.
I feel this ❤️
I almost was ready to move in with a girl over the summer and was bummed when it ended.
My mom puts up with it 😆
Here’s video that was made about his collection:

@TravisDoingLife thanks man. I think she would have dealt with it eventually when we got a bigger place. But she was going through a divorce and there was a lot of red flags that I ignored at first
I’ve always needed to be alone-even when I was married and with a young family. Now I live alone and it feels completely natural. Of course I wish my landlords would permit cats, but other than an animal companion, it’s totally fine.
I’m so grateful for the little cat who lets me live with her 😆
@@TravisDoingLifeshe’s a very cute little friend! I hope your dog is cool with her! 😅

I subbed to your channel!
I have nothing to do with people if I truly don't have to.
Sometimes that’s good. I hope you have at least a small circle you can lean on when needed. Thanks for stopping by, I hope to see you here again.
@TravisDoingLife
I have friends from my sobriety group, and I have other friends spread out across the U.S..
There is no true love or emotion in my heart, so marriage won't be happening.
@ that’s great. Marriage is an outdated idea I think. Lots to talk about there.
I'm not the special one that's going to dodge divorce court. That boat has sailed, struck the iceberg, and went straight to the bottom.
@@sirg-had8821 I’m with you there my friend.
I love it
Thanks for taking the time to watch!
Let's see...peace of mind or a mind in pieces
I choose peace of mind these days!
Hey, how is the David Gogging inspiration going?
Thanks for checking in on this. Really good! My “second voice” is getting louder. 💪🏼

Always good advice!
Do you like being a alone? Huffa huffa huffa huffa huffa huffa huffa huffa🐶😂
@@mauricioramirez9744 I know right 😆😆
what you describe is not being alone, alone. This is a silly video
I guess we all have different versions of what alone is. There cool! And yeah, I definitely make silly videos sometimes. But they’re always from the heart. Always working on improving!
@@TravisDoingLifeI like the video
@@TravisDoingLife I thought your video was great. Beautiful scenery, and you spoke from the heart. It definitely resonated with me.
Great vid; great points.
Welcome to the world of RUclips negativity and critics 😉

One thing i know is that I'm alone but sure don't feel alone i felt alone when i had girlfriend and her kid and then my freinds always giving my time to others no one was ever happy made me miserable.
That’s such a good point… being surrounded by the wrong people can be more alienating than being by yourself. Thanks the insight and for watching, I hope to see you back here!
